BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

  2. Hurricane Sandy is a big storm which is affecting most of America. It had already made a mammoth impact on the U.S. East Coast, bringing punishing winds, heavy rainfall and storm surges. Governors across the region declared states of emergency, so many people were evacuating from this areas, including New York, which is the last city that the hurricane reached, causing thousands of deaths.
This hurricane could be the most weather phenomenon which has happened. It is probably to be the strongest storm has ever touched down. A storm is stronger when the pressure decreases, and this hurricane has reached a minimum pressure of 943 millibars. Also it could cause catastrophic floodings, breaking the record of 3.5 meters of level water.
I think this atmospheric phenomenon it's an indication of the climate change is begining to happen around the world.

  3. I think is very important to know all the things that goverment are doing to help the people and how is the storm affecting them. But, do we really know what a hurricane is? I have been looking over the Internet for a long time and this was my final conclusion:
A cold airstream and a hot one are situaded exactly at the same vertical position, the hot under the cold. The hot airstream (due to its lower density) will rapidly come up, on the contrary, the cold one will let down very quickly too. When they were join together, they will rotate violently one into the other, producing a very strong wind and a very low pressure, and this causes the heavily rain.
Why is this? Every autoumn, when the atmosphere gets cold (in the north hemisphere) and the air present in it (more or less amount) goes to the Ecuador, it encounters the very hot air of the Ecuador and then, in the Atlantic Ocean, it comes... And I agree with Pablo ('A storm is stronger when the pressure decreases') and says that a pressure of 943 is a really really low pressure, so it is very dangerous, as the articles says.
I must desagree with two statements, is not very important, but we can call Sandy a better way:
1- Sandy is not a hurricane anymore. I explain, when the hurricane 'lands', for various reasons, it comes very less violent. Now, it could be call a strong storm.
2- Sandy is not a tropical storm. http://www.learnnc.org/lp/media/uploads/2009/12/cyclone_map_large.gif , in this picture, we can appreciate the localization of the tropical storms. And, http://www.adafruit.com/adablog/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/hurricane_sandy_time_map_500.jpg , as we can see in this one, the hurricane was so up to the call like that.
I don't think this is because the climate change... This is perfectly normal, it could happen every year. It just that this year, for reasons that I do not know (maybe climate change), it's the stronger that we have experienced.

This hurricane has been incredible! Sandy came to the east coast of New York last week, but first it shattered areas of Haiti, Cuba or Jamaica. The heavy rainfalls and strong winds have destroyed trees, houses, supermarkets and because of giant waves and high tides, the areas near to the sea have been flooded. In addition, public transportation system have been closed for some days. However, the worst news have been the thousands of people who have lost their homes and nearly one hundred who have died (only in U.S.)
Thanks to television and social networks we have seen the strength of this hurricane. And my question is: if this hurricane had happened in a poor country, what would have been the damage?

  5. Everybody has been talking about Sandy since last week. This hurricane has already caused many floods, and strong rain and winds which have caused a big chaos in US cities destroying the pavements, infrastructures -like bridges- and thousands of houses. Sandy became so strong that even people died despite all the evacuation actions the government had carried out for weeks. I really sympathize with those people who now find their homes in ruins and have lost everything they had. I can’t imagine what I would do in that situation. However, it has always been talking about the USA and we shouldn’t forget that Sandy also passed through the Caribbean and that it caused a lot of damage there too.

  7. The news about the effects of the Hurricane Sandy in New York is at the moment the most interesting issue around the world. The heavy rainfall and high tides have caused the mandatory evacuation in all northeast coast. Moreover, the officials have declared a "state of emergency", so that these have ordered the closure of some establishments, financial markets and they have cancelleded the train service. However, Airline companies have increased the number flights for those who would like to leave the area. Surprisingly, is so severe the situation is so serious that the NYSE market, the UN office and 12 casinos have closed.

  8. In my opinion, a hurricane is the worst weather phenomenon. It's a tropical storm with strong winds circulating around a low pressure area. Sandy developed from a tropical wave in the Caribbean Sea on October 22nd and was upgraded to Tropical Storm Sandy six hours later. On 24rd October, Sandy became a hurricane. Like Katrina, Sandy destroyed many homes and caused many deaths. In America tornadoes and other weather phenomenons are very common, and people tend to be ready for it every year. However, Hurricane Sandy flooded streets, tunnels and subway lines and cut power in New York City. Witness a hurricane has to be amazing and really frightening! I saw on the news the faces of people and they seemed very scared and sad. I hope I never witness a hurricane, because it is very dangerous.

  10. A hurricane is a big disaster. It destroys and raze everything and always produces many damages and some irreparable, such as the death of people or animals. For example, Hurricane Sandy affected Colombia and Venezuela powerfully, its outer cloud bands affected Haiti and the Dominican Republic, with a hurricane affecting Cuba, the Bahamas, Bermuda and Jamaica, and already weakened the United States and Canada. The greatest impact was received by the United States, where it affected 24 of the 50 states, both by the intensity of the winds, swells, rain and snow and the large size of the hurricane (1800 km maximum) when touching land on the eastern coasts of country.

Sandy claimed the lives of about 70 people in the Caribbean, 147 in the United States and 2 in Canada.4 Subsequent data that took into account the number of deaths due to Hurricane Sandy (direct and indirect), increase this figure to 253.
