BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Read about the TV series , its original character and the novel by George Orwell 1984.

Just imagine that George Orwell wrote this novel in 1948, just after the Second World War.

  1. I think the TV program has nothing in common with George Orwell’s novel. When Big Brother was broadcast for the first time in Spain, I was too young and I can’t remember it, but my elderly sister told me that she thought it could have been an interesting experiment because she had heard about the book and the character, but she got very disappointed. It is actually very difficult to stage such a situation like the one George Orwell describes in his book on a TV program, but nowadays Big Brother has became an easy way to get famous by not doing anything In fact people who join the program are often those who can catch the audience by means of their stupid acting. But the worst is they get so much audience! I can't understand what can be so interesting about watching a couple of people in a house having arguments or doing any other stupid things and moreover, decide who has to leave the house and who is going to stay. I can't imagine that George Orwell wanted to say that with his novel.
I haven’t read 1984 yet, but I read Animal Farm, also by George Orwell, last year and I liked it a lot because of their easy and straight critique to the totalitarian politic system. I really admire his fearlessness to talk about his opinion which is, in most cases, also reality. I'm looking forward to read this book, but I guess I'll have to wait until summer...

  2. In many countries there is a TV program called Big Brother but this reality is different to George Orwell´s novel. The only thing they have in common that both the novel and the reality program there is someone superior who controls everything. In the novel is the absolutist government and in the reality is the program direction through cameras. For many years it exists in many countries around the world.

For example, in Spain Big Brother program is bradcasted all the years and I don´t understand how it such audience. Three days ago I watch on TV an advertisement of Big Broter 14, it is incredible!! Fourteen editions of it!! People participate in these programs to become famous and get money without work or study.

I haven´t read this book but several people have recommended it to me. I hope read it soon.

  3. Big Brother is a TV show that is based in the novel by George Orwell 1984. In this TV show a group of people starts to live –they don’t know who they are going to live- in a big house. They are watched by a lot of cameras around the house and they have to live with the other people and try that the audience don’t expulse them. At first this TV show was an experiment for analysis how people reacted when they were forced to live with strangers, but the truth is that this TV show was converted in a form to get famous and get money easily. In many countries like Spain Big Brother is broadcasted since 2000 and it has got many audience because, apparently, people has fun watching it. Now, what would George Orwell think if he saw the TV show?

  5. Nowadays the TV programme Big Brother based on George Orwell's novel is only trash. When I was a kid I used to watch it but I've realized that It's a big idiocy. But it has really large audience, Why?

It's simple, It is very known people like to know everything they could about everybody, as well as their arguments, their love stories, their behaviour in general. And this is what current Big Brother show us.

I think once you've watched one edition you've already watched all, It's always the same. I don't know what George Orwell would have thought If he has been alive to witness this...

  7. Most of the population has seen Big Brother, either by curiosity or because it has appeared on our TVs while we were doing zapping. Big Brother may be considered one of the biggest television phenomenon, since, despite having been a lot of editions that have been always equal, the audience gets bigger and bigger everyday.

This reality show consists on a group of people living together in a house for about three months, passing trials and weekly eliminations. The house is usually very modern and full of cameras and microphones that are recording all day and that then they broadcast the images on television. Today, there is even a special TV channel that broadcasts Big Brother 24 hours a day.

Not everyone can enter in Big Brother. Contestants must spend several castings and psychological tests to see which contestants can give more play inside the house; and with “paly” I mean fights with other participants, romances... All contestants affirm that they participate in Big Brother because of the economic price, which is usually very high, as 100000 euros.

Currently in Spain, the TV channel Telecinco is broadcasting Big Brother VIP edition, whose participants aren’t normal citizens, but people known because they have appeared on television before. From my point of view, this program can sometimes be a sign of what happens in real life; however, I think that celebrities shouldn’t participate because they already have enough money to be fighting for more.

  8. 1984 is a novel where the principal character decides to rebel against the totalitarian government that controls each of the movements of the citizens and even punishes those who criticize that thought.

It is hard to believe that the "Big Brother" program is based on George Orwell's novel but there are many similarities.

This reality has a lot of audience but personally I think it does not teach values or anything that can serve people.

  11. 1984 is a political novel of dystopian fiction, written by George Orwell between 1947 and 1948 and published on June 8, 1949. It is considered as one of the masterpieces of the trilogy of dystopias of the early twentieth century, along with the novel of 1932 Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley, and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.

On the other hand, we can to know Big Brother that a programme broadcast on Fridays at the prime time of the Spanish television network Cuatro. It has a clear educational purpose. Their protagonists are young people between 18 and 25 years old who have violent, aggressive, addictive behaviors, etc. Jerónimo García acts as "big brother" and tries to help them change their lives. Between 2009 and 2015 the programme was presented by Pedro Garcia Aguado.

In my opinion, I love this programme because he helps the viewer to have a frame of reference that can help him in the education of his children. Also I saw this programme more when Pedro Garcia Aguado works in this programme.
