BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

BIOGRAPHIES: Louis Pasteur

Who was Louis Pasteur?

Read about him and point out the main pieces of information.

Then you can also write his biography as seen in the textbook.

  1. Whenever you hear the name Louis Pasteur, ' milk ' comes into your mind. This is because the process called pasteurization, which eliminates the microbes from milk by heat, is named after him. This is not the only legacy left by Louis Pasteur. His research into micro-organisms also helped him to save the silk industry by proving that it was germs that were destroying the silk worm eggs.

Many thousands of lives have been saved because of this scientist's investigations into vaccines. His first discovery was in 1879, with a disease called chicken cholera. It was an accidental discovery, but because of this vaccines' success he went on to develop other against smallpox, anthrax, cholera and TB.

One of his most memorable discoveries was a vaccine again rabies. He vaccinated Joseph Meister, a 9-year-old boy who had been bitten by a rabid dog and saved the child. This feat brought him success and recognition from his fellow scientists.

I find Pasteur interesting because he wasn't a typical scientist. He was only an average student, and when at school showed more skill in drawing and painting than in the sciences. His first degree was in the Arts but he went on to gain a degree and a doctorate in Science.

I admire him because he saved many lives by making milk safe and the number of people who he has saved by the development of his vaccines must be innumerable.

I always thought of Louis Pasteur as just a name associated with milk, but his investigations were far greater than I had realised. His impact on the health of society in the 20th was enormous.

  4. Louis Pasteur (1822–1895) was a French chemist and microbiologist who was one of the most important founders of medical microbiology.
He was able to demonstrate that organisms such as bacteria were responsible for souring wine and beer (he later extended his studies to prove that milk was the same), and that the bacteria could be removed by boiling and then cooling the liquid. This process is now called pasteurization. He also made other discoveries, like the molecular basis for the asymmetry of certain crystals.

Pasteur had been partially paralyzed since 1868, because of a serious brain stroke, but he was able to continue his research. Pasteur's first vaccine was discovered in 1879, with a disease called chicken cholera. In 1888, a special institute was founded in Paris for the treatment of diseases. It became known as the Institute Pasteur.

Although he wasn’t a writer, he has some famous phrases. I’ve chosen two of them. I hope you like them:

-True friends have to be angry from time to time.
-Do not let yourself be tainted with a barren skepticism.

  7. Louis Pasteur is a French chemist whose discoveries had enormous importance in various fields of natural sciences , especially chemistry and microbiology. A technique known as he should be pasteurized . Through experiments definitively disproved the theory of spontaneous generation and developed the germ theory of infectious diseases. For his work is considered the pioneer of modern microbiology , initiating the so-called " Golden Age of Microbiology ".
