BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

  1. This is a very powerful film. It is set in a world in which heterosexual people are in the minority. In a sense, the roles of homosexual and heterosexual people have been changed. The film makes a big impact on those heterosexual viewers, as they are able to understand more deeply the suffering of homosexual people in the world today. It is a clever technique which makes the viewer feel indignant at the treatment of the heterosexual girl, whose inclinations and feelings seem very natural to the majority of viewers. The reactions of the homosexual people; their outrage, their disgust, their hatred and their violence seem to the spectators to be ridiculous.

Whatever our own sexual orientation, or our religious beliefs we can not force our own choices on others. Homosexuals are human beings, they are often loving, faithful, gentle and kind people. People say today's society is sick because the acceptance of homosexuality is increasing, but I think that the real disease of our society is that such hatred and violence exists against homosexuals.

I have seen other short films about homophobia that have been thought provoking, but I think this is probably the most ''feeling provoking'' that I have ever seen.

  2. This short film 'The Butterfly Circus' is one of the most uplifting videos I have ever seen. The main character is played by Nick Vujicic who is an inspirational person.

He was born in Australia with the rare illness tetra-amelia syndrome which meant he had no limbs. As a child at school he became very depressed because of bullying and tried to commit suicide at the age of 10. The love of his parents always sustained him and his life was turned round when his mother showed him a newspaper article about a man with a severe disability. He realised that he wasn't the only person suffering and decided that he needed to think more positively. He quotes his mother as saying ''you can either be angry for what you haven't got or be thankful for what you have''. His faith in God led him to become a motivational speaker and through his conferences, DVD's and interviews on TV shows he has reached millions of people with his message.

He was eager to participate in the short film 'The Butterfly Circus' which was released in 2009 and won three prizes. I love this film because it has a strong message when many films are just pure entertainment. My favourite part is when Will realises how his own life, condition and actions can have a positive impact on other people. This is when a young boy who has only one leg comes up to him, thanking him for his performance and puts his arms around him. The boys' mother thanks Will for showing her son that he can still achieve great things in his life even tho he is missing a limb.

Nick Vujicic's message is that everyone has value whatever their condition is and that they can have a fulfilling life. I hope the video has an impact on anyone who is doubting their own self worth.

  3. I think this video is about discrimination of people from society and nobody is perfect.
In the video we can see that man. At the beginning he is sad thinks that he can`t do anything. However, he knows a good person, they help him. Finally, in the film we can see how he can do things that nobody thought he could do.
    Everybody can achieve what proposes.
    I love this video.

  4. Actually, homophoby is not seen like a common thing...
I think that this is a serious problem because some people are discriminated only for their sexual condition...
What do you think? Do you think that we can treat someone depending on the person that he loves?
Some teenage homosexuals suffer bullying and this is so hard for them, in fact, some of them kill themselves because they aren't brave enough and they don't tell their family or friends that they have problems.
A lot of parents don't accept that their son or their daughter is homosexual... how do you feel if your parents don't love you the way you are? It's too sad, I think.
I hope that homosexuality becomes a normal thing FOR EVERYBODY (because there are still people who refuse it, although a lot of people already accept it).

  5. I really like this short-film, it's one of the most beautiful videos I have ever seen. I think what the video is telling us, is that we can achieve things if we believe in ourselves. My favourite part of the film was when the boy with a missing leg came up to him and hugged him and her mother thanked him for giving him hope. This film has impacted me a lot and has made me believe more in myself.

  6. Is our society prepared to accept different people. ? Fortunately the new generation are bing educated of different way. Nowadays, young people are more compressive than a few years ago.

This film reflect the rejection of society towards what is different or unknown. In this case, we are speaking about homosexual people. Many teenagers are afraid to be discovered his homosexuality, for this reason they pretend be heterosexual people. Unfortunately, some of then suffer a big depression or even they can commit suicide because they can not be themselves.

In my opinion, nowadays children grow up knowing that homosexuals are common people who study, work and can have a family.

  7. Sad.
This video shocked me because it shows that children can be cruel to someone who doesn't have the same sexual option than most. These people suffer physical and psychological damage. In some subjects we are taught from a young age that everyone has a different sexual orientation, but unfortunately there are people who are not tolerant and do not respect others, we live in the XXIst century...

  8. Heterofobia
This video is about sexuality. This video says not to discriminate people. This story is about a girl who likes boys, and people in this video discriminate her because is the world is the other way round. It is a representation of life.
    I like this video 

  9. Heterofobia:
In my opinion, this video is very interesting because it explains that people who are different are discriminated, the society is very cruel and most people don't accept homosexual or people who don't follow the rules, or fashion, etc. It is a serious problem, but it is real.

  10. I just saw this video about the homophobia, and in my opinion, it's a very sad, because homophobia is a real problem, that happens every day all around the world.

On the one hand, I think that for people who don't have a sexuality like the most part of the population, it's difficult to tell her parents and friends about it, because they think they might be rejected.

On the other hand, I think the government should create measures to prevent bullying. In addition, families should educate their children so that they aren't cruel and they can understand that not all people should be equal and that there are people with other sexual opinion.

Taking all this into account, if children were well educated by their parents, they would respect the other people, and there wouldn't be bullying, which causes many suicides of children in a year, as we have seen in this video.
