BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

  14. I am trying at the moment to read Romeo and Juliet, one of Shakespeare's most famous plays. It is not easy as a lot of the words are not modern English words. I have learnt that when Shakespeare uses the word 'anon' he means soon, fond means 'foolish' and rood means the crucifix. I was surprised how much of the play was comedy and how many bawdy jokes were in it.

    I have seen a picture of the Globe Theatre which was built by Shakespeare and his business partners and in front of the stage there's a wide open space where the common people stood. I read that there was a lot of laughter and shouting at the actors coming from this area of the theatre. I have seen the film 'Shakespeare in Love' and know that he had a rival playwright called Christopher Marlowe who was murdered. In the film you can see that there were no actresses, the young apprentice boys played the parts of the women. Queen Elisabeth | liked to come and see Shakespeare's plays and many of the court and educated people enjoyed his plays as well as the common people. However, I also know that London suffered various epidemics of plague during Shakespeare's lifetime, when it was forbidden for a large number of people to gather together and therefore the theaters were closed.

    Shakespeare was also a poet and wrote many sonnets, but there is a very funny one on his grave stone. I can't remember exactly what it says, but it is about people moving his bones. I can't look it up because you told us to only write what we knew in our heads and not look up in any books!

  26. Shakespeare was born and raised in Stratford-upon-Avon. At the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway, with whom he had three children: Susanna, and twins Hamnet and Judith. Between 1585 and 1592, he began a successful career in London as an actor, writer, and part owner of a playing company called the Lord Chamberlain's Men, later known as the King's Men. He appears to have retired to Stratford around 1613 at age 49, where he died three years later. Few records of Shakespeare's private life survive, and there has been considerable speculation about such matters as his physical appearance, sexuality, religious beliefs, and whether the works attributed to him were written by others.

    One of his poem:

    Carpe Diem

    O mistress mine, where are you roaming?
    O stay and hear! your true-love's coming
    That can sing both high and low;
    Trip no further, pretty sweeting,
    Journey's end in lovers' meeting--
    Every wise man's son doth know.

    What is love? 'tis not hereafter;
    Present mirth hath present laughter;
    What's to come is still unsure:
    In delay there lies no plenty,--
    Then come kiss me, Sweet and twenty,
    Youth's a stuff will not endure.

  28. Known throughout the world, the works of William Shakespeare have been performed in countless hamlets, villages, cities and metropolises for more than 400 years. And yet, the personal history of William Shakespeare is somewhat a mystery. There are two primary sources that provide historians with a basic outline of his life. One source is his work—the plays, poems and sonnets—and the other is official documentation such as church and court records. However, these only provide brief sketches of specific events in his life and provide little on the person who experienced those events.

  29. Shakespeare's Globe is a reconstruction of the Globe Theatre, an Elizabethan playhouse in the London Borough of Southwark, on the south bank of the River Thames that was originally built in 1599, destroyed by fire in 1613, rebuilt in 1614, and then demolished in 1644. The modern reconstruction is an academic approximation based on available evidence of the 1599 and 1614 buildings. It was founded by the actor and director Sam Wanamaker and built about 230 metres (750 ft) from the site of the original theatre and opened to the public in 1997, with a production of Henry V. The site also includes the shell for a reconstruction of the Blackfriars Theatre, another Elizabethan theatre, due to be completed and opened in November 2013 as the Sam Wanamaker Theatre.

    In my opinion he was one of the best writers in the world. His plays are still being studied. His best play for me is Romeo and Juliet, I haven’t read a lot of Shakespeare, but this play is one of the most represented in the world. If I could, I would go to see it at the theatre.

  39. I know a bit about William Shakespeare. William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon on 26th April 1564 and he died 23rd April 1616. He was a very famous English poet, playwright and an actor. He is recognized as one of literature’s greatest influences.

    William was the third child of the eigth children that John and Mary Shakespeare had. I only know a little about Shakespeare's childhood because at school we don't study his childhood. Still, I know he married Anne Hathaway and barely seven months later, they had his first daughter, Susanna.

    His first poem was Venus and Adonis and the second was The Rape of Lucrece. He wrote many poems and other compositions, but it is noteworthy Hamlet and Macbeth. These are dramas called "dark comedies" because the themes are more ambitious. The most popular dama that William Shakespeare wrote is Romeo and Juliet, which is a tragedy about two young that were in love and in the end they died for a misunderstanding.

    I know a bit about William Shakespeare because he is very famous for his dramas and because he is studied at the school and we read his books.

  42. William Shakespeare was great English playwright, dramatist and poet who lived during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. Shakespeare is considered to be the greatest playwright of all time. No other writer’s plays have been produced so many times or read so widely in so many countries as his.

    He was one of eight children. When William Shakespeare was about seven years old, he probably began attending the Stratford Grammar School with other boys of his social class.

    Shakespeare’s poems and plays show love for nature and rural life which reflects his childhood. In London, Shakespeare’s career took off. It is believed that he may have become well I known in London theatrical life by 1592. By that time, he had joined one of die city’s repertory theatre companies.
