BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Are you already an adult or still a teenager? ...or even perhaps still a child?

 LIFE STAGES

Childhood, adolescence and adulthood are stages in our life. They don't exactly refer to the age you have, but to how mature you are. That phenomenon may change according to the individuals, but it may also be changing in our days and in our society.

  1. I think I'm in the adolescence ,but I'm thirteen years old and I like to play with my little cousins. I think the most important thing isn't how old you are if not what do you like it "as you think you are you".

The article says that the boys are adults when they have eighteen years old ( I don't think so ). At this time the boys and girls of this age (some) aren't adults, because they do a lots of nonsenses. So in the second paragraph of the article says that things are changing, and now the age at which we become adults now reaches twenty-five years old.

  4. I think I'm in adolescence because I'm thirteen years old but are still things that attract children like playing with my little cousin and be silly.

Things have changed, before, people with twenty years had formed a family and work but now people are still studying twenty years and are considered youth, not adults.

There are older people who have the mentality of a child and young people who have the mentality of an adult.

I don't know when we are adults, but I think that when we are adults think in a jobs, have a family... I don't think that when we are tewenty-five years old we are adults. Some people are adults but very few, because we are tewenty-five years old we think in parties and meet with our friends.

  6. Sometimes we are lost in a lenguage that can cause prejudices. We usually use the words "old" and "youth" but I think we don´t stop thinking what they seem. What are they really? An old man is experienced and peaceful? A young boy is crazy and irresponsible? Is not always...

In my opinion we should not use "adult" to describe a person who is prudent because there are people between 25 and 50 that don´t know how to take their proper decisions, however, I've seen people with 17 that provide for their family and can care it alone.

Even the extremes, there are children whose have travelled by the world more than many old men. Probably, the old man knows more about life but the child knows other ways. There are different experiences.

For me the only use of the words "old", "youth" and "child" is to refer to the age.

  7. The seven stages of life?

The way we perceive life and its stages, depends upon the point in history from which we are observing it and the culture in which we live. From the age of the Ancient Greeks through to medieval times, life was often seen to be divided into seven phases. Shakespeare made these seven stages famous in his play ‘As You Like It’, but the idea wasn’t original to him. His words have become well known,

‘All the world’s a stage and all the men and women merely players’

And he identifies seven stages of life; baby, child, young man, man in his prime, middle-aged man, old-aged man and man in second childhood.

In modern days we perceive life’s stages in a different way. The word ‘teenager’ did not exist in the 19th century; it is a 20th century phenomenon, originating in America. This new phase in life came into being with the invention of the automobile, which gave young Americans great independence. Freed from their parent’s control they developed a certain lifestyle completely different from adults and children; teenager-hood had arrived. In Shakespeare’s description the individual passes from childhood to young man hood, there is no such thing as teenager-hood.

Another phase which is a 20th century phenomenon is the stage of the ‘active pensioner’. In medieval culture the healthy middle aged male passes directly to old age and then the deathbed, as reflected in Shakespeare’s poem. Health care in the 20th century now allows retired people to enjoy a high standard of fitness, often into their seventies. So a new phase has appeared in the stages of life and we find pensioners who lead very active lives, practising sports and going on adventure holidays!

Nowadays, it could be argued that the fourth stage in Shakespeare’s speech has all but disappeared. He is described as the soldier, the man who goes out seeking adventure and self-reliance. There is a tendency among young people today to be less adventurous than the previous generation and they seem to lack a thirst for independence. Many stay at home; teenager-hood dragging on well into their late thirties and by the time the person finally leaves home he or she is already middle aged!

The changeability of life’s stages is perhaps an integral facet of the social development of humans. As society progresses maybe medical science will dispense with that final, seventh stage of Shakespeare’s individual; the deathbed. Who knows what other stages in life might disappear or appear?

There are older people who have the mentality of a child and young people who have the mentality of an adult. But really when as maturity is reached when you already have full life . Have a wife , have a children , have a career , have a house , have a work and much more things

The article says that the boys are adults when they are eighteen years old but , I don't think so. As I said before is when you have a full life .

  10. I´m a adolescent.
I think that a person musn´t be adult at 18 years old, the person can be reality adult(madurity) before or later.
I think that a person grow up for the experiences, little by little you awake and it´s not fall in the same mistake.
Also, for the family, where you live, the country, religion, ect
Ithink that a person isn´t inmadurity to be funny or to do the stupid, but you now be serious when you must be

  11. In some countries the age to be considered an adult is 18 like in Spain, however in some others the age is 21. But from my point of view adulthood can not be defined with an age, it is more about maturity, which can come in any stage of your life. Also it isn´t something that could change from one day to another one like waking up and suddently being an adult, it is a long slow process which varies depending on the person.

Also, experiences trigger maturity. It is not the same one person who has lived in different countries, had to adapt multiple times and has known a lot of different people that other person from the same age who has grown in the same place doing the same things with the same people.

Moreover, because of all of this I think it is a waste of effort denying arguments from other people because of their age with the excuse of "You are too young for talking about that" or "You don´t know about that yet" which is something old people usually do when a teenager speaks. There are many young people that have won prices about revolutionary inventions, debate etc whose voices had to be heard.

To put it in a nut shell adulthood doesn´t depend of an age and responsibility doesn´t come with it either.

  12. Nowadays many people are rejected in some cases because they are minors, but perhaps this should not be the case since many people with 16 or 17 years of age may be able to be more mature than someone who is 18, 19 or 20 years old.

I think that the age of majority should not be due to age, but due to maturity, since a person under 18 years of age may be able to contribute more to you than a person of 19 years of age.

Many times it also happens that we are at home and our parents tell us that we are too young to watch a movie at best or to talk about a topic, in some cases they may be right but in others they are not, I think they should let us give our opinion and maybe we can give you something they didn't know.

  13. I believe that it depends of the situation, in some cases I think I am an adult since I am quite a madure person. Althought, I always love playing with my little cousins and i love every children too, in this case I consider myself like a child. And when I am spending my time with my friends and we are having a good time, laughing and making jokes I am an absolute teenager.

This is the reason why I think that a person with my age can't define oneself because on this time we are all at once depending on the situation. And in some cases, the adults can be feel this too.

  15. In Spain as in other countries at the age of 18 you are considered an adult. Nevertheless, this is different in other countries. For example at the age of 21 you are considered an adult in New York, on the contrary, in Africa you are considered adult at the age of 13. There is a lot of difference between these ages but in every part of the world they have different customs and their own culture. However, not everyone has the maturity needed to be an adult at the age indicated in each country. That is to say that a person with 17 years old could be more adult than a person with 20 years old.

On the one hand, it is necessary to set an age to consider someone as an adult, because there are things such as voting or buying certain products that only adults can do. It is very difficult to measure the maturity of each one and for this reason an average is taken in each country to determine adulthood.

On the other hand, I think that the age of majority should not be due to age but to majority. It is a long process to become an adult and you don’t wake up one morning and you are mature enough to be an adult. Moreover, everyone has different lives and each has had different experiences. For example a person who has had to live alone for a while or a person who has travelled around the world and has had to communicate in another language has more maturity than a person who has not travelled or has not lived alone.

We can add that in many situations when a teenager is talking, adults or even old people think that there are some topics that they cannot talk about such as politics or problems around the world and they say ‘you cannot talk about it, you are too young’ or ‘you know nothing about it yet’ and they don’t let us explain our point of view.

To put all in a nutshell, maturity is something that you acquire with time and you cannot think that if you are adut you can shut up the thoughts of teenagers. In my opinion each one must know the level of maturity they have and be patient if you are under age.
