BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Beware of global warming!!! It can cause tsunamis

Global warming is essential issue these days. Among other things, watch these two videos and see some of its consequences (it is not science fiction or part of a film, it's real!!!!):

Vocabulary learned: global warming, greenhouse effect....  Any other???

  1. The world is in our hands.

Global Warming has become the biggest scare of the century. It predicts that the average temperature will rise by 1.4°C - 5.8°C in the next 100 years. Some says that the ice caps will melt causing the sea level to rise by between 10 cm and 90 cm - making many coastal areas around the world uninhabitable.

This is not the only negative effect that global warming will have on the world. Weather patterns will be altered; causing more hurricanes and storms, which are likely to become stronger as well. Ecosystems will change. We are already experience in this as butterflies, foxes and alpines plants have moved further north or to higher cooler areas.

Scientists have concluded that most of the observed warming is very likely due to the burning of coal, oil, and gas, which causes the greenhouse effect. The problem is that human activity is causing more greenhouse gases to build up in the atmosphere. What happens then is that the atmosphere "thickens" with more greenhouse gases and more heat is held in.

The world as we know it will be very different in a hundred year time. Only humans can change the future if we decide to stop burning coal, oil and gas. We need to find other alternative. The future is in our hands

  2. I have seen this videos before, In my opinion I don't think so, only could make a small tsunami but nothing more... Tectonic plates can make much more than that, Although who live in the artic pole It would be a big concern that in my opinion.
The cause of these icebergs is spontaneously broken global warming of the atmosphere because the temperature changed much in the recent years, this, made effects as this thing has happened.
The global warming occurs by the use of fossil fuels and other industrial processes leading to an accumulation of greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere.

  3. The world belongs to everyone, but unfortunately all we did was evolve and gradually destroy all we have. We have destroyed our home, we have time to do anything but it's a little late, people should be aware of their actions and the consequences of these.

We lost thousands of breeds of animals, there are many breeds of animals in danger of extinction. The poles are melting and global temperature is rising, all this puts us at risk to us because if we keep areas like the Gulf of Mexico will disappear by the increase of water in seas and oceans.

The number of days of extreme heat in places like California spend 4 or 5 days to 40 or 50 days of extreme heat, the diseases will also increase as the heat will make us more exposed. The death toll from heat waves will soar because of high temperatures.

So we must begin to care for the world, because if we do not all we have will disappear. We must be more consistent, start with small steps and leave the car and use the bus, recycle and we can get great results.

  5. One of the biggest problems facing the world today is global warming. Many scientists believe that our production of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases is having a heating effect on the atmosphere, and this could be very dangerous for human life.

Many problems could result from global warming. One of the biggest problems is rising sea level. This could result in the flooding of low lying coastal areas and cities, such as Egypt, the Netherlands, and Bangladesh. Some countries might even disappear completely! Another problem caused by global warming is changes in weather patterns. Many areas of the world are experiencing increased hurricanes, floods, and other unusual weather. A third problem associated with global warming is the effect on animals. Fish populations could be affected, while some insects which spread disease might become more common.

There are several things we can do to solve the problem of global warming. One solution is to stop producing C02. We can do this by switching from oil, coal and gas to renewable energy. Another solution is to plant more trees. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen, which is not a greenhouse gas. A third solution is to use less energy and to recycle more products. Generating electricity is one of the main sources of carbon dioxide. If we use less electricity, we will produce less C02.

In conclusion, if we make small changes now in the way we live, we can avoid huge changes in the future. Scientists, governments and individuals must work together to overcome this threat.
