BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

  1. Today I am going to talk about Diabetes, but first of all we must know in what it consists. Diabetes is the condition that results from lack of insulin in a person's blood, or when their body has a problem using the insulin it produces (that’s what Wikipedia says). But, how can a diabetic person be cured? Has Diabetes got a cure? Is Diabetes the Biggest Epidemic of the Twenty-first Century?
According to the Diabetes International Federation, based in Belgium, as of 2015, an estimated 415 million people have diabetes worldwide. This represents 8.3% of the adult population, with equal rates in both women and men. And about 18 million people die every year from cardiovascular disease, for which diabetes and hypertension are major predisposing factors.
This disease can be inherited, but most of the times it is caused for eating fast food, because of this, Diabetes is usually related with obesity. Overweight usually produces this lack of insulin and this, added to not doing sport increases the possibility of a worse Diabetes.
At my school there were a few students that had a big Diabetes and they must take three times a day insulin (which is too much). However, they now carry the disease better and they don’t have to go to hospital too many times, (only for revisions), because they are now doing a lot of sport and eating healthier. In my opinion, even if recent studies say that have discovered the cure, I think that we could prevent it, simply eating healthier.

  3. To begin with, diabetes is a condition where the body can't control the amount of glucose (or sugar) in the blood, and if left untreated, it can cause many complications like heart attack, stroke, kidney failure and blindness.

Diabetes is on the rise, particulary two types. One of them includes obesity. It is caused because people eat fast food and unhealthy food more and more and they don't do as much exercise as they used to do, because their lifestyle has changed. They rather stay at home watching TV, chatting on the mobile... than going out to do some exercise. Like kids, now adults have jobs that don’t demand so much physical activity.
Diabetes International Federation, which is in Belgium, says that an estimated 415 million people have diabetes worldwide. In fact, in Mexico sugary drinks have decreased in sales because of the sugar tax, measure which has actually worked so far.

  4. First of all, we have to know what means Diabetes: it 's a disease caused because the body can't control the amount of glucose in the blood or it can be too by the body can't control the glucose (sugar) it produces.

Now, I'm going to talk about the population that have Diabetes. In the world, there are 415 million people that have diabetes and more than 59.8 million are in Europe. According to the International Diabetes Federation this number will rise to 71.1 million in 2040. Many people have diabetes because them had the disease when they were born, but there are others that have this disease because of they eat lot of sugar. Why do they carry on eating sugar? If you see your health is getting worse, you should stop eating sugar and start doing sport.

In my opinion, doing sport can reduce many diseases, like diabetes, for example. In my life, luckily, I didn't get a friend with diabetes and I hote I won't.

  5. Has you heard about diabetes? I'm sure that you know what it is. Nowadays, diabetes risk has increased and most teens and adults have it. First of all, I'm going to explain what diabetes is. Then I'll move to explain how is the life of somebody that suffers this illness and finally, I'm going to give you some pieces of advices to prevent diabetes.

To begin with, diabetes is a condition where the amount of glucose in your blood is too high because the body cannot use it properly, This is because your pancreas doesn’t produce any insulin, or not enough insulin, to help glucose enter your body’s cells. There are 2 types of diabetes:

    - Type 1: it usually develops in children and teenagers, it is also called insulin-dependent diabetes.
    - Type 2: it typically develops after age 35. However, a growing number of younger people are now developing type 2 diabetes. This is due generally to the inappropriate lifestyle; we have an unhealthy diet, we have a big variety of fruits and vegetables in the Mediterranean diet, although we prefer eating junk food, ready-made food and we forget the importance of the fruits for the proper functioning of our body. Moreover, we haven't enough time to go out to walk or run, or we prefer staying at home watching TV or with the phone... so this physical inactivity doesn't help to prevent diabetes.

Secondly, what's about a person that suffers diabetes lifestyle? This person doesn't have to change his life, but he has to change his habits. He had to make every meal well-balanced, exercise a lot, check his blood sugar level, stay hydrated, have always a small snack or glucose tablet with him during exercise in case your blood sugar drops too low, etc.

Taking all into account to, I'd like to say some things which show or can help you to know if you have diabetes, they are, for example, you drink too much water and so, you go to the toilet often, you loose a little weight, you feel hungry, you're tired all the time... This illness is slightly easier to cope with it than others, although it is far difficult to assimilate it when you find out that you have it.
We should start to have a balanced diet and to practise exercise, go out and utilise less the mobile phones, computers..

  6. Diabetes is a disease that affects your pancreas and every day more people suffer from it. There are two types of diabetes, one that is because of your genetics, in other words, because someone in your family has had it, and another type that you develop on your own because of different causes, especially poor nutrition. In addition, diabetes is a disease that currently although there are medicines to help, has no cure.

On the one hand, diabetes is a disease in which blood glucose levels are very high. Glucose comes from the food you eat. Besides, insulin is a hormone that helps glucose get into cells to give them energy. Type 1 diabetes happens when your body doesn't make insulin. This disease is becoming more and more common but, as I said before, there isn't a cure. To help to control this disease the patient has to take continuously small pieces of their blood and check the level of glucose in it, this sometimes, especially the first months when this disease is diagnosed, can be uncomfortable. Moreover, this condition is a big responsibility and often changes people's lives. For example, if you have diabetes, you have to control what you eat, be careful when you play sports, etc. Furthermore, this disease can contribute to the appearance of other diseases such as cardiovascular diseases. Besides, according to some experts this illness can reduce the life of people who suffer from it by 12 to 14 years.

On the other hand, type 2 Diabetes generally forms part of the “metabolic syndrome”, which is characterized by insulin resistance, obesity and a range of cardiovascular risk factors. In addition, type 2 diabetes is closely related to diet. Today, more than 1.7 billion adults worldwide are overweight, and 312 million of them are obese. In addition, at least 155 million children worldwide are overweight or obese. Obesity is a real problem that has only bad consequences, among them, diabetes. According to statistics, 7 million cases of diabetes are diagnosed each year. In addition, type 2 diabetes is fortunately preventable, but it needs work. However, even if we worry about eating well and being healthy, there is a probability of having this disease, but it is very low.

All in all, diabetes is a condition that you will have all your life when you are diagnosed with it. A cure for it is currently being researched, although there isn't a reliable one yet. Besides, if you have diabetes you may think it is a very bad disease, but thanks to medical advances a diabetic person can live a completely normal life. From my point of view, everyone should take care of their diet, do sport and have a healthy lifestyle because it not only decreases the possibilities of having diabetes, but also many other diseases.

  7. First of all, the diabetes is a chronic illness that you can not spread to other people. This illness is produced because the pancreas stop of creating insulin and your levels of sugar in blood go up. But this isn’t all, there are two types of diabetes: type one and type two.

Type one is very frequent in younger people than in older people. It is more severe than type two because this type is for all your life and the only cure for this is inject insulin for all your life. The insulin is a substance that makes your pancreas can reduce your level of sugar in blood. These people, who have type one, also must control of their glucemic levels many times at day.

Type two is more frequent than type one. This type of diabetes can be cured mainly because it is presented in old people and obese kids that eat fast food. These people follow a sedentary life and do not practice exercises. However, exercise and healthy food you can control your level of sugar in blood and be good with time, they will heal. For old people, the doctors recommend to take a pill.

In conclusion, the diabetes is an illness more common than you can think and its patients can have a normal life. They can infiltrate in society with normal people but in reality they can also be assasins. They can kill you with a small injection of insulin and it do not leave evidence on the dead body.

  8. Thanks to a new invention, published in the scientific journal Nature Communications, we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel with a device called NICHE, which stands for Neovascularized Implantable Cell Homing and Encasulaption. We are talking about a small and portable pancreas, which could be the perfect solution for those suffering from type 1 diabetes. As stated on the website of Houston Methodist Hospital, responsible for the research, a team of scientists from the Department of Nanomedicine has developed a revolutionary device.

To understand how it works, it is necessary to explain what happens in people with diabetes. As an autoimmune disorder, the immune system of patients attacks and destroys the beta cells, which are found in the pancreas and are responsible for synthesizing insulin. Without this hormone, glucose, which should be stored in the cells and give them energy, reaches the blood flow causing hyperglycemia. A current solution is the transplantation of groups of cells, including beta cells, in order to tackle this autoimmune disorder. What happens? These transplants have adverse effects and this is where the NICHE device comes in, capable of administering drugs to the exact site of the transplanted cells and providing direct vascularization.

It appears that human trials will begin in about three years, so little by little, the device will be experimented with. The team at Houston Methodist Hospital is refining the device to treat diabetes patients, offering lifelong hope to people who would only need to refill the device with medication once every six months. Technology, once again, seems to be on our side.
