BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

  1. Nowadays, plastic is a big threat to the environment and the planet, plastic has an important contaminant capacity and it can cause serious effects on ecosystems and on animals that are living in them. The problem is the amount of plastic that is in the sea. There are many types of plastic such as supermarket bags, polystyrene lumps, compact discs, cigarette filter tips, nylons, etc, but each plastic pollutes more or less. I think the best way to stop this pollution is to make aware people about the effects of plastics in the seas because there are many persons that have no idea about this.

There are many coasts that are covered in plastic because of the waves, I think if people cooperate, the coasts will be clean soon. In my opinion, people must be curious and reycle, and all above, take action!!

  2. Nowadays, it is well-known fact that plastic is a very common material in our ordinary lives. This material is very useful, because it is very malleable, is cheap, can keep warm… However, this material pollutes a lot and it is difficult to recycle. So today, I am going about the issues that plastic has created in the Mediterranean Sea and about a possible solution to do this dangerous problem Let’s do it! Cleaning up the Mediterranean Coast!

This useful material contaminates our seas in many different ways, for example, it makes our beaches dirtier and therefore the water is polluted if you want to swim. In addition, if the sea is contaminated, the fishes also are and they can be hurt like turtles who eat plastic bags, because they think they are jellyfish and so they die.

Let’s do it! Cleaning up the Mediterranean Coast! is an organisation whose aim is to make everybody aware of this problem and also concern everybody that we are all responsible of this issue and that we have to work all together in order to resolve it. This group is formed by ten thousand volunteers and involve 15 countries.

All in all, I think that we can use plastic, but we have to know that it is a double-edged sword and we have to take care of our planet. Furthermore, in my view Let’s do it! Cleaning up the Mediterranean Coast! is a very useful organisation that can correct our mistakes made in the past.

  4. Does anyone really know how the impact of plastic will affect the world in the next years if we don't do anything? Plastic is always present in our daily lives. From credit card to plastic bags that we use in the supermarkets; almost all is made from plastic and we aren't really concerned about it. To begin with, I'm going to talk about plastic, then I'll move to explain the advantages and disadvantages of using plastic. And finally, I'm going to give you my opinion about this issue.

Plastic is the most common material which is known and used. One of its characteristics is that it has a low electrical and thermal conductivity, it is also malleable. Moreover, it has a low cost, so as the world is moved by money, plastic is the most used material.

For me, plastic hasn't too many advantages to be used. It is light, strong and cheap. In addition, it gives the food it is in contact with a peculiar taste and it is also a good container to save cleaning products. However, the disadvantages are fewer, although they are worse. For instance, it kills turtles that eat it as they think it is food, plastic also damages their ecosystem. Not only that, but also its use affects our health as we breath the chemicals substances.

All in all, we won't stop using plastic, although I'd like to say that we must reduce it. If we don't do anything, what an awful world we will have in the next years! For that problem a lot of campaigns have been set up, for example, the Let's do it! Cleaning up the Mediterranean coast association is a project where tens of thousands of volunteers from countries all around the Mediterranean Sea participate in cleaning up the world. I believe that we have to start raising awareness of the impact of plastic in the world and then take action.

  5. Pollution of the seas by plastic is a problem that worries people, but they do nothing to get this problem, or at least the vast majority.
A group of researchers from several US institutions just published for the first time since the first rigorous calculation of how many plastic wastes are mismanaged into the sea from each of the 192 coastal countries.

Do not you think that this is quite ironic when you consider the impact this will have on our future? Simply meditate a little about what is said in the first four and a half minutes of documentary and gives a lot to think about what awaits us. However, it seems that nobody cares ...
Consider alternatives and at least recycle everything. For something is necessary to begin.

To sum up, this is an ongoing discussion as simple to solve, the problem is that people are not aware of how this is affecting the oceans big problem, and to life in general.

  6. Nowadays the pollution is a really serious problem that affect everybody. Plastic is a very common material, because it is cheap, useful... and it has a lot of other good things and almost everything is made of plastic. However, the plastic has a big defect, it is one of the main causes of the pollution.

Other causes of pollution are: the deforestation, the traffic, the pesticides and the chemicals products, and also the increasing population. But today I am going to talk about the plastic. The plastic is a very common material in our lives and is difficult to eliminate. I think we have the responsabilitie to help by recycling or other ways, because we have caused this problem, but there are a lot of persons who don’t do nothing.

The beaches and the seas are the places more polluted by plastic. When I go to the beach I always see bottles and bags of plastic,... I think that people are very dirty. I don’t understand why they throw the trash on the beach instead of in the bin, which is next to them.

Nowadays we have a lot of organisations like “Let’s do it! Cleaning up the Mediterranean Coast!”, which is an organisation that tries to make aware everybody about this problem and that we are all responsable.

Other organisations are: Sierra Club, Greenpeace and EPA.

  7. The pollution on the sea is every day more serious because the people doesn't realize when we litter the sea. In summer, in the beach there are many people and many of them eat there. When I go and see it, they throw the wrappers to the sea. I see this very bad, because they doesn't know how bad is it for the oceans.

There are many types of plastic such as supermarket bags, polystyrene lumps, cigarette filter tips, etc, but each plastic pollutes more or less. I think the best way to stop this pollution is to make aware people about the effects of plastics in the seas because there are many persons that have no idea about this.

    2. Plastic is a big problem in the world .

This big problem can be solved by recycling.

Before, on the beach of Salobreña there were turtles, now there are many jellyfish because there are no turtles.

Turtles eat jellyfish, so if there are no turtles, there are more and more jellyfish and they attack humans.

The plastic that we throw into the sea makes many marine animals disappear.

Plastic can affect small and important animals.

In today's news they have said that there is a worm that eats plastic.

This worm is called a wax worm.

I think it is important to look for solutions of this type, but what is really important is not to pollute.

Listening to 6 Minute English BBC says there is a starfish that eats corals in the Great Barrier Reef, changing the ecosystem.

This is as dangerous as throwing plastic into the sea.

  10. Plastic in the sea is one of the most dangerous things in the world because sea creatures can eat it and die. Turttles are one of the most affected animals because they think that plastic are jelly fish or fish and they swallow it and die.

I think it´s a very disappointing thing because if all fish are dead, humans wouldn´t have more fish to eat and these are very bad news.

Sometimes there´s much more pollution in the sea than on the streets. When a boat crashes with a cliff or a rock all the petrol comes out and kill lots of sea animals, so please be supportive with the problem.

  11. Whenever you are eating something or have a plastic bag in your hands, please drop it into a litter bin and make people realise how important this is as PLASTIC IS THE BIGGEST THREAT FOR OUR MEDITERRANEAN SEA.

plastic bags are found polluting waterways and ending up in the sea, where they are a menace to marine life. Earlier this year, a whale was found to have died of plastic pollution, its guts clogged up with our plastic. The problem is so great that there is now a floating pool of rubbish in the Pacific, greater in extent than any other detectable man-made impact on the environment.
In my opinion the people shouldn’t throw garbage to the sea, because the fish die and pollute the sea . we should clean all and not get it dirty any more.

  14. Plastic, despite being an incredibly useful material, because of all the possibilities of use it has for human beings, plastic also has its problems.
The intensive use of this, has generated waste difficult to handle. Starting because it is not degradable. This means that, when it is discarded, it does not decompose easily as, for example, paper does. Nowadays, plastic is largely responsible for the polluting waste that accumulates on our planet.
The most common plastic, when discarded, remains in the environment for many years. Also, when it is thrown on the street, it can end up covering sewers and grilles where the water must pass when it rains. When it reaches rivers and oceans, it can kill animals that are trapped inside the bags.
From my point of view, recycling is the best option of all. Faced with these drawbacks, plastic elements have been developed from corn, which makes it degradable and does not contaminate. But for now the manufacturing costs are high, but it will undoubtedly be an alternative to make it less contaminated

  15. Plastic waste in the seas of the world is becoming a growing problem. Less visible but much more dramatic is the global pollution of the oceans with plastic. Experts estimate that up to five percent of all plastics produced worldwide end up as garbage in the seas. In 2010 they were approximately 12 million tons. Most of these plastics reach the seas through the rivers.

The biggest problem is the microplastics, the smallest particles, which are formed by the abrasion of car tires or contained in cosmetics that are becoming increasingly dangerous. For example, 94 percent of seabirds found dead on the coasts have microplastics in their stomachs.

The greatest risk to the oceans currently comes from emerging economies in Asia and Africa. Economic growth means more production and more garbage. What is still lacking in these countries are concepts of waste disposal and concepts of sustainability.

A big problem is still the fine bags that are used for fruits, which often cost nothing. Anyway, per capita consumption of plastic bags has dropped from 71 to 45 pieces per year. But, even so, 3,700 million plastic bags are consumed in the year, which usually ends up in the seas.

  16. Plastic is a problem for us and for animals, especially marine animals.Oceans are polluted
with rubbish coming from humans. Marine animals can eat it and die. For example, the turtles. They think that the plastic are their food and the turtles eat it and they end up dying.

We can solve this problem, throwing it into the correct bin and recycling.

In many places coffee capsules are prohibited because they cannot be recycled correctly.

I think we must care about the environment and understand what is happening with humans and the planet.

  17. Plastic has always been an important material for humankind. From natural rubber balls, bands and figurines in the Prehistoric Age to polyester photographic films and computer tapes in the 21st century. It would be hard to imagine our lives without plastic. Its countless uses makes it an essential material which we can not do without. However, the level of plastic in our seas has increased dramatically in the last century leading to harmful and detrimental effects on our environment.

Plastic deteriorates very slowly as it is able to withstand natural degradation. This, summed up to the rise in plastic production, is creating a hostile, almost unbearable atmosphere for marine life. The plastic concentration in some areas is so enormous that we have ocean currents of marine debris worldwide. The most important one is located in the North Pacific Ocean and is known as the Great Pacific garbage patch. Many of these plastics end up in the stomach of marine animals, reducing their population. Not only is it toxic for marine species, but also for us, as many of these fish are consumed by the human species.

If we do not stop this growing accumulation of plastic, it is estimated that by the year 2050 there will be more plastic than fishes in the sea. What can we do to stop this?
There are microorganisms which can break down certain types of plastic, but it’s an expensive process and some of these microorganisms are infectuous for the human being. Plastic incineration is another option. However, it increases carbon dioxide emissions which would contribute to global warming. Recycling seems to be a good option, as re-melting and re-using plastic would cut down on plastic production.

In conclusion, plastic pollution is a problem which can’t be ignored. We need to act now before it’s too late. We need to stop this threat. Our seas are crying for help. Our planet needs this. We need this.

  18. The issue of pollution is something very common in our day to day. Attempts have been made to take many measures to reduce the use of plastic such as collection in supermarkets and other stores of plastic bags. All this in order to reduce our consumption but, this is not enough since many products containing plastic are still manufactured, we use it for everything: mobile phones, packaging, computers ...

Many of us are not aware of the damage we do every time we throw a bag on the ground or wrap a candy. We are not aware that this will end up in our seas and will be eaten by animals that we will consume later because everything is a food chain.

Apart from the damage that can be caused to our health, which are several, we are spoiling our landscape and creating islands of garbage (in which there are large percentages of plastics).

In my opinion, we should try to make people more aware of what they do every time they throw a package on the ground or when they throw away the trash without recycling. We need to teach the raw reality and not sweeten it.

  19. Today I’m going to write about plastic. It is a very serious material and we use it everyday.
Plastic has always been a very important material for us, but also it is a very contaminant material and it takes a lot of time to degrade, like 500 years and also to produce it.
When we throw something to the sea, we are not conscious about how damage we our causing to our planet. This is a very serious problem which can’t be ignored and which we have to do something before it is too late. In some place it exist an island of rubbish and it is very disgusting and a lot of animals die of this every day. For example, if we throw a top of a water bottle and a fish thinks that it is food they will eat it and they might die.
Finally, I think that we should do something about this because we are destroying our planet.

  21. Normally the oceans are full of plastics, this causes many marine beings to die and not only that, the environment also.

When I go to the beach and see plastics, cans, and garbage I am very surprised because the beach is a good for everyone and we do not take care of it as they should.

There are boats that collect tons of plastic thrown in the open sea with floating fish.

Let's take care of the environment by not throwing garbage bags into the sea, cans, and especially plastics.

  23. Plastic can be a very useful material, but it can be letal, too. People all over the world use plastic every day, in bags, in clothes, etc. Some of this plastic ends in recycling zones, but many others ends in the sea, and it is very dangerous for us, because we´re polluting the seas and with this, the fish that we eat in our ordinary diet. Nowadays, many fishes that we eat have eaten plastic and with that, we´re eating plastic, too. This is a big problem, but it isn´t the only one, there are many little animals in the sea, and some of them die because of plastic, and if we don´t stop this, some of them can finish disappearing. Society should be aware of the problem that we are creating to the planet, and that if we don´t stop polluting, we´re going to be very bad in the future. Nowadays, they are investigating how to stop this, and people are creating ways to stop polluting, like bags that destroy themselves when they touch water or other materials as an alternative.

  25. Plastic is very common material today. People all over the world use plastic every day, in bottles, bags wrappings, clothes and many others objects that we use in our day to day. But why is it so important to be concerned of the use of plastic?

Some of this plastic is recycled but many others end in the sea or the ocean floating on the surface. Many scientists say that Mediterranean Sea is a great accumulation zone of plastic debris. But marine plastic pollution is a problem that is spreading across other oceans like Atlantic or Pacific.

The plastic is a long-lasting, so we can find plastic in every corner of the planet. Once plastic objects reach the sea, they can be ingested by marine fauna and accumulate inside, they can float on the surface or they can sink to the bottom of the sea. The plastic gets broken into smaller pieces generating the microplastics.

To sum up, plastic is a very used material in our everyday life,so we find it everywhere. However it can be very dangerous if we do not recycle it correctly. So, in my opinion we should reduce the use of plastic and to take care of our planet.

  26. In these days we use plastic for a lot of thing, objects, works etc..., Plastic is the most useful material in the world. With it we can do most of objects, like smartphones, toys for children's, bags, clothes etc.. This material comes from petrol, it is easy to produce and make with it this objects.

First, we can have a several problem with the plastic, because the reserves of petrol someday can be obsolete, and we can't produce anymore plastics, also we use petrol to produce diesel and gas, for this reason we someday will destroy the petrol reserves.

Secondly, the recycling of plastic, is a good technique to take advantage of reserves of petrol because we have a problem with that like we say previously, but we have a big big problem with plastics, it cans be in the nature a lot of year to degrade it, it can be about 30,40, 50 years depends on the type of plastic.

Plastics are too bad for our planet, and for our animals and our health, we should recycled its, and we must use it for necessary things.

  28. Nowadays we use plastic for a lot of things, plastic is a cheap material, moreover the companies use this because it is resistant and easy to use, with it we can make toys for children, bottles, food packages, clothes, etc... Plastic is made from petroleum, whose use is polluting for the environment.

Plastic is spread all over the seas and this is a problem because a lot of fish eat it and most of the time they die, but sometimes we eat this fish with plastic. Plastic is depleting oil reserves, if we continue using plastic as we have done so far, there will be no oil left by the year 2040.

We have to recycle plastic to end the problem. Plastic takes 150 or even 1000 years to decompose, plastic is in the seas, forest, lakes... It is the cause of a lot of fires.
