BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Alone or with company???

There are certain moments in life when one really enjoys solitude (especially, teachers, who are always in crowded and noisy places), but there are also great moments we love sharing with people (like our study trips to the British-Irish Isles).

Here's an incredible video about the Scottish mountain-biker Danny Macaskill in the Isle of Skye. Enjoy the gorgeous Scottish landscapes that this year I would like to share with my students:

And here's another one: Danny MacAskill’s Wee Day Out  (Enjoy Scottish landscape!!)

Two listening exercises to do: "Is loneliness in our genes?" (6 Minute English, BBC Learning English). However, to begin with, you have to know yourself: "Who do you think you are?" (6 Minute English, BBC Learning English)

A final question before ending: How do you know you're real? Interesting video about it to think about it:

  1. Well, now I'm going to talk about the loneliness, of the company and of my point of view about this comun issue but so interesting.

Is better being alone or with company? From my point of view, it depends of the situation in which you are. For example, if you are a teacher who is in crowded and noisy places, you'll probably want solitude. However, if you are an air traffic controller who is working almost all day, you'll probably want to be with your family or friends later. There are many times that we worried a lot about this issue because we feel alone. I think it isn't a problem because loneliness isn't bad, because your life can change in any moment. Maybe you are alone today but perhaps in a month, you start going out with a girl and you are together all your lives.

Nowadays, there is an expression that people say: loneliness is better than bad company. I absolutely agree because you can be with people but if you aren't happy with them, it will be best that you were alone. However, I think if you are alone all your life, you will not enjoy your life because it's always more funny to do things with company than alone.

To finally, an interesting question that Descates try to answer is: How do you know you're real? Many times we are dreaming and we think we are real in our dreams, but our body is irreal in our dreams so, how do we know right now if we are real? Descartes answered by this way: I think, therefore I am. I think he is right.

  2. For me it's betterto be accompanied. I like spending time with my friends and I take a trip with them. It's always good because with them I have a great time and it's impossible to get bored.

In addictin to being able to travel there are many more things, to as the power to party or go to the shopping, ask for advice...etc.
All these things couldn't be enjoyed if you do it done. Although this can be done with the family.

On the contrary if I travel alone it would be all boring. I don't know what to do and who to spend time. I couldn't imagine going to a party or go to the cinema alone, it would be very strange and boring.

  3. We spend the most time o four live with people who we trust on or simply, with another people, for instance, partners, people who we don't know in shops, cafés, on the bus... However, we also like to spend time on our own. First of all, I'm going to write about the difference between being lonely and a loner. Then, I'll move to explain what influences to make us isolate ourselves. And finally, I'm going to give you my opinion about this topic.

To begin with, I'd like to point out that there is a big difference between being lonely and a loner. Being alone is generally associated with a happy mental mood in which the person is happy and proud of herself. Sometimes we find loneliness to calm, meditate, think over... In that moments we see loneliness as an opportunity to evaluate our own feelings. It is said that when a person is alone, she can understand her true feelings, wishes and motivations.
On the contrary, feel alone is something negative; it is caused as we aren't happy because of something, for instance, like in most cases, a break up, a betrayal, a friend of us who leaves, a death... We can also feel alone even when we are surrounded by people since it isn't due to physical contact.

I'd just like to say that we need time to be on our own (that behaviour is something innate in humans as we tend to move away when we aren't well, for example when a child gets angry, he goes to a place without people and stays there for some minutes); and moreover, we also need time to share. Taking all into account to, everyone feels alone once, so you have to encourage the situation and move on. 4. Today more than 4.4 million Spanish people live alone, and they are already 24% of households.

For the first time with data from 2013, people living alone account for only 9.6% of the total population. As for those under 65 living alone, more men (1,557,200, 59.7%) than women (1,049,200).

The difference between being lonely and a loner:
    - Loneliness, most people have or will experience it at some time in their life.
    - The loner gets satisfaction from being alone.

Some advantages of living alone are:
    - Peace and tranquility.
    - Money grows on trees.
    - Learning to be responsible
    - You don't have to put up with anyone you do not want.

    Some disadvantages of living alone:
    - Loneliness.
    - You can't share anything.
    - Boredom.

Finally, from my point of view it is better to be accompanied, because you enjoy very good moments with your loved ones.

  5. Be alone, with company... Much people in Spain prefer live alone (more than 4.4 millions). Live alone means do everything in the house, but also do not have problems with those who live with him. Usually the university students when they have to go to study far, although some of them prefer rent a floor between several friends. In my opinion I prefer live in company, because alone you can get bored, but in company you haven't got loneliness, you can share anything with your floor partner, etc. Living in company can help to the people to be more happy, and this can influence in the studies, helping to obtain better grades. Even so, live alone so have his good thing, peace and tranquility, learning to be responsible and you don't have to put up with anyone you don't want, for example.

  6. Alone or in company, all people like to share our moments with our family, friends and all the people around us.But sometimes everyone needs to isolate themselves from the world for a while, and enjoy solitude, get away from the noise and enjoy Of the silence, that isolation also teaches us to miss those people who accompany us throughout life. Being alone we can find ourselves understanding our virtues and defects better, thinking about what makes us happy in a relationship. After all, the reality is that you are never alone, as you believe. Learning to love and respect you goes hand in hand with accepting who you are, your faults and virtues. Getting the best of you, will make you believe your best version, and that, eventually, will make you fall in love with you. And when that happens, you will not need anyone to tell you how good you are, because you will know. And that will suffice. Your own company, is the only one that will really make you feel full. And your happiness depends solely on you.
