BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Bob Dylan, the minstrel of the 21st Century

In the Middle Ages there were minstrels who would go from village to village singing the news, entertaining the people, dancing... Actually, that was the way people learned about El Cid Campeador and the battles in which he participated. There are still a few of them left nowadays. Here are a couple of examples.

  2. To begin with, I’m going to write about Bob Dylan. He is an American songwriter, singer, artist and writer who was born on 24th May, 1941 in Duluth, USA. He is 75 years old and he has been working in the world of music since 1959. Nowadays, he lives in Malibu, CA. He has been married twice and has six children. He usually plays the guitar, although he plays the keyboard and the harmonica too. His songs have social, political, philosophical and literary contents. The most famous are Blowing in the wind, Hurricane, Like a rolling Stone… He has won lots of prizes. Among them, we can mention the Prince of Asturias Awards in 2007 and the Nobel Prize for Literature this year, in 2016. It was said that he didn’t want it, but this week he called the Swedish Academy an accepted the award.
And now I am going to write about Hurricane Carter too. Rubin Carter was an American boxer. He was born on 6th May in 1937 and died on 20th April in 2014. He fought from 1961 to 1966, the year that he was arrested by a triple homicide. In 1975, Bob Dylan wrote a song inspired in his story called Hurricane to report this unjustice.

All in all, although I’m not so fond of Bod Dylan music, I think his music is fantastic with great contents.

  3. Bob Dylan, whose real name is Robert Allen Zimmerman, was born on 24th May in 1941 in Duluth, Minnesota, USA. He is an American songwriter, singer, artist and writer. His songs usually talk about social unrest, but he has also made songs about his disagreements with wars. “Like a Rolling Stone” was one of his most popular singles.

This singer has won a lot of awards in his career such as Academy Awards, GMA Dove Awards, Golden Globe Awards, Grammy Awards, Grammy Hall of Fame, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame…

However, he has been famous in the last few weeks for winning a Nobel Prize for Literature. There are some people who think that he deserves this prize, but there are also a lot of people who think that a singer shouldn’t win this type of award, because there are a lot writers or poets in the world who deserve this type of prize before him.

To sum up, Bob Dylan is a very good singer whose songs talk about the misfortunes of the world. Nevertheless, he has been critized by winning the Nobel Prize. In my view, he deserves this awards, because he has very talented person.

  4. The Nobel Prize is an annual award presented by the Nobel Foundation, Stockholm, Sweden, to people who have contributed their research and work to the improvement and development of humanity.

The Nobel Prizes for literature of the last five years have been for: Tomas Tranströmer, Mo Yan, Alice Munro, Patrick Modiano, Svetlana Alexievich. This year he has been awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature to Bob Dylan.

Bob Dylan is an American musician, singer and poet, widely regarded as one of the most prolific and influential figures of his generation in popular music of the twentieth century and the beginning of the twenty-first century. His most celebrated work dates back to the 1960s, in which he became known as a folk songwriter with compositions such as "Blowin 'in the Wind" and "A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall." Dylan's lyrics incorporate a variety of social, political, philosophical and literary themes that defied existing conventional pop music and generally appealed to the emerging counterculture at the time.

To conclude, Bob Dylan is one of the great musicians and icons from the 60s until now, the whole world is happy that they have been awarded this grand prize for the beautiful lyrics of his songs.

  5. Bob Dylan, whose real name is Robert Allen Zimmerman, was born in United States on 24th May 1941. He is a musician, singer and songwriter, who was really influential in the twentieth and twenty-first century. His songs have a variety of social, political, philosophical and literary themes. He is 75 years old now and lives in Malibu.

Some of his most famous songs are “Like a Rolling Stone”, “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” and “Lay Lady Lay”. During his career, which started in 1959, he has won a lot of awards. Some of his awards are Prince of Asturias Awards, Golden Globe Awards, Grammy Awards and Grammy Hall of Fame.

But the most famous award is the Nobel Prize for Literature this year, which has caused different opinions: the first is that he doesn’t deserve the award because there are a lot of better writers and poets before him, and they only give him the award for publicity; and the second is that he deserves the award for the amazing lyrics of his songs, but sadly for the persons who think that he deserves it the director of the Nobel Foundation has stated that Bob Dylan would not go to receive the award because he has other liabilities.

From my point of view, only poets and writers should win this award, not songwriters although they have written amazing lyrics.

  6. Robert Allen Zimmerman Or Bob Dylan, as it is known was born in United States on 24th May 1941; he is an American songwriter, singer, artist, and writer. In 1970, after suffering a motorcycle accident in 1966 and not touring for eight years, he gained more commercial success with albums like Planet Waves, Blood on the Tracks and Desire, numbers one in his native country. At the end of the decade, he opened a new musical stage with the publication of Slow Train Coming, with a deep religious thematic.

  7. Do you know Bob Dylan? Have you heard the song "knockin on Heavens Door", which is heard in the film "Pat Garret y Billy el niño"? Or the song "like a Rolling Stone"? I'm sure you've heard them more than twice in your life.

Today, the name Bod is very named because of a Nobel Prize, which he got the past 13th October. It has been the first time in the Nobel Prize Of Literature History that a songwriter won this type of award.
He was awarded for "have created poetics expressions in the big tradition of the American song".

What's about him? His real name is Robert Allen Zimmerman, who was born in 1941 and started his music career in 1959, playing in Coffe's shops in Minnesota, USA. His first guitar was taken at the age of 14 by him and he performed in rock'n'roll band in high school. Furthermore, his first album was released in 1962.

Nevertheless, this prize hasn't been something much awaited so that has produced comments, which most of them have been posted on the web. Not only there are people who criticise this, but also there are others that support this decision.

Taking all into account to, I am of the opinion that this songwriter has been well awarded, he has such good lyrics and songs. I'm not very keen on this kind of music, I'd like to point out that this music is bad, though. What's more, I reckon the topics covered in his songs have such great arguments and they help yo open us the mind about social issues.

  8. Bob Dylan is a musician, singer and an American poet. He has been, for 5 decades, one of the greatest figures in popular music, being considered one of the most influential song writer. Dylan songs are special not only because of their music, But because of the message each one of them transmits. It is very hard to choose which one is the best because all of them keep a message that goes beyond a simple song. Those letters have been the ones that have taken Dylan to win the noble prize in literature 2016 even though he was expected to come out last. The Nobel Prize in literature 2016 has been given to Bob Dylan for creating new poetics expressions in American traditional music.

Showing no signs of slowing down, Dylan has continued to tour in recent years. The legendary singer-songwriter has received Grammy, Academy and Golden Globe awards, as well as the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Nobel Prize for Literature.

He became the first American to receive the honour. The Swedish Academy explained that he had created new poetic expressions in the great American song tradition.

I have just listened to the song Like a Rolling Stone which is posted in this blog entry and I think it's a very emotional song. This song was composed in 1965 by Bob Dylan, the letter of the song comes from a poem written by him in June in the same year.

  10. Bob Dylan is said to be one of the major figures of the pop music movement in the world, he is not just a Singer, he is almost an institution.

With a career over five decades, Dylan has been followed by almost every generation of music lovers, he fought to make music not just enjoyable, He fought to create social and political awareness through the lyrics of his songs. As someones say, He is a rebel, he wasn´t someone who conforms with the existing norms of popular music of his era.

He chose to experiment with his music and lyrics and changed the way people listened to music in general, but in particular, he revolutionized the genre of pop as well as folk. He have worked in many musical genres like, country, gospel, folk, and rock and roll. He is also a very skilled musician with instruments, he can play the guitar, keyboards, and harmonica. But maybe, what people most remark on him is the way he writes the lyrics of his songs, they revolve around the issues the common man faces. The musician also loves to paint and his paonts have been shown in many important art galleries.
