BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

  1. Patrick Day is celebrated on 17th of March, patron saint of Ireland. Saint Patrick was born in 387 in Kilpatrick, near Dumbarton, Scotland. His father was an officer of the Roman army. Irish pirates took 16 year old Patrician prisoner and sold him as a slave. He spent six years in Ireland, where he learned to speak the Celtic language. He managed to escape and went to France to prepare for life. When he was 46 years old he decided to return to Ireland to evangelize its inhabitants. And there he remained until his death on March 17/ 461.

A Christian tradition says that Patrick explained the mystery of the Holy Trinity using a three-leaf clover. That is why on that day they have the custom of wearing a clover in the celebration of this day. It is also customary to dress in green and even color this beer in honor of Ireland.

In my opinion this party seems great, I find it very curious the tradition they have to dress all green, I would love to go someday and be able to celebrate it with all the people there.
And what I like is that you can drink and drink all the beer you want, because it is tradition.

  2. St. Patrick's Day is produced annually on March 17 in observance of the death of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. What began as a religious holiday in the 17th century has become a variety of festivals around the world celebrating Irish culture with parades, special foods, music, dancing, and lots of green. Many people ask the question 'Why is the Clover the National Flower of Ireland?' The reason is that St. Patrick used it to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagans.

From my point of view this party is very interesting, because you have to go dressed in some green garment, this party is celebrated all over the world, this day of Saint Patrick there are bands, floats, street theater and much more. The 32 Irish counties are represented, dressed in their traditional colors. Also participating in the parade are members of the Irish community of London and other Londoners.

  3. For a start, Saint Patrick, who is patron saint of Ireland, is one of the world’s most popular saints. He was born in Roman Britain and when he was a child he was captured by Irish pirates. As well, he was taken to Ireland like as a slave. Although he was not born Irish, he has become an important part of the Irish heritage, because before he came to Ireland, in 432 AD, was a Celtic pagan country. What’s more, St Patrick Day is celebrated on 17th March because of his death. The clover is the national flower of Ireland such he used it to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagans. Furthermore, he used to help convert people Christians symbols like the circle and the cross combined.

On the contrary, currently we celebrate St Patrick Day in a lot of countries around the world like the Trafalgar Square celebration, in which there are parades, special food, drinks and music in his honour. This day all people wear something green because it is said that this brings us good luck. Many important monuments has gone green for this day, like London Eye, The Coliseum, Christ the Redeemer, The Leaning Tower of Pisa, Empire State, also.

To sum up, I stayed in Dublin last year where I spent a whole week including St Patrick Day. The festival was fantastic, there were a lot of people anywhere and most of them on their green costumes, dancing and singing. I spent such a great time! I would repeat one day because is a unique experience.

  7. For a start, I'm going to explain what St Patrick's Day is. Saint Patrick's day is celebrated on 17th March, which is the supposed date when St Patrick died. It began as a religious feast day in the 17th century, and nowadays, it has evolved into a variety of festivals across the globe celebrating Irish culture with parades, special foods, music, dancing, and a whole lot of green.

St Patrick's Day is celebrated in many parts of the world, but especially by irish communities and organizations. Irish communities wear an item of green clothing on this day. Irish food and drinks are also dyed in green color.

Now, I'm going to write about St Patrick. St Patrick, which is the patron saint of Ireland, was a fifth-century Romano-British Christian missionary. According to the Confessio of Patrick, when he was about sixteen he was captured by Irish pirates from his home in Britain, and he was taken as a slave to Ireland, where he lived for six years before escaping and returning to his family. After becoming a cleric, he returned to northern and western Ireland. Inhis later life, he served as a bishop and, by the seventh century he had already become the patron saint of Ireland.

Finally, I'd like to add that I stayed in Dublin a week last year and I went to the festival. How amazing it was!! I have never seen something like that. Thousands of people were wearing green clothes, dancing, singing, etc. I hope I will go there once again!

  9. St Patrick's Day is celebrated annually on March 17. The day honours the patron saint of Ireland, but celebrations are held around the world. While many see St Patrick's Day as an excuse to drink endless pints of Guinness while wearing a green wig, there's a little more to it than that.

It is followed by a St Patrick's Day Festival in Trafalgar Square where revellers can watch St Patrick’s Day performances by West End stars, Irish acts and community choirs, plus a huge céilí on the stage, hosted by Irish stand-up comedian Jarlath Regan.Festival-goers can then tuck into traditional and modern Irish food from the market, and enjoy special family activities for free. Find out more about the Trafalgar Square St Patrick's Day Festival.

Wearing green has now become associated with St Patrick's Day, even though the saint was originally associated with the colour blue. It is thought that the shift happened for several reasons; Ireland's nickname is the 'Emerald Isle', there is green in the Irish flag and the shamrock, Ireland's national symbol, is also green.

According to Irish tradition, green is the colour of the Catholics and orange is the colour of the Protestants. On the Irish flag, these colours are separated by white, which is symbolic of peace between the two.

  10. I'm going to write about St Patrick's Day that is celebrated on 17th March because it´s day that St Patrick died. It´s a national party in Ireland but it´s celebrated in many parts of the world.

St Patrick, which is the patron saint of Ireland, was a fifth-century Romano-British Christian missionary. He was captured by Irish pirates from his home in Britain and was kept hostage for six years. He escaped and he went back to Great Britain. He studied in France but he wanted to come to Great Britain because he wanted to teach the Christianity. So he is the man who introduced Christianity into Ireland.

On St Patrick's Day, people wear green clothes, eat special food, listen to Irish music, dancing, participate in parades, …. This special day, the people eat bean in grains and cabbage, Classic Irish soda bread, Shepherd's foot (lamb, mashed potatoes, butter and sweet sauce), Irish fennel stew and they drink green beer.

I spent a great day last year whenwe went to Ireland for St Patrick´s Day. Someone wore something green, we painted the Irish flag on our face, there were many people on the street and we were so happy. It was fantastic!

  11. Firstly, I´m going to talk about what St Patrick´s Day is. St Patrick’s Day is a global celebration of Irish culture around March 17. It particularly remembers St Patrick, one of Ireland’s patron saints, who ministered Christianity in Ireland during the fifth century.

St Patrick’s Day is celebrated in many parts of the world, especially by Irish communities and organizations. Many people wear an item of green clothing on the day. In this day, the foods more common are Irish brown bread, corned beef and cabbage, Irish potato soup, Irish coffee, etc. Some people plan a pilgrimage to St Patrick’s Purgatory, which is commonly associated with penance and spiritual healing since the early 13th century. It is on Station Island in Lough Derg in County Donegal.

St Patrick is one of the patron saints of Ireland. It is said that he died on March 17 around the year 493. He grew up in Roman Britain, but he was captured by Irish raiders and taken to Ireland as a slave when he was a young adult. After some years, he returned to his family and he entered the church, like his father and grandfather before him. He later returned to Ireland as a missionary and worked in the north and west of the country.

Finally, I want to say that the last year I went to Dublin with my friends and my teachers. In this trip, I went to St Patrick´s Day and I saw all the people with green clothes, many shamrocks, many flags of Ireland. From my point of view, this day is very special for Irish people and many tourists of all parts of the world. I hope to go another year to enjoy the Irish traditions again.

  12. Saint Patrick or Lá Fhéile Padraig on irish, is celebrate on 17 March when Patrick die. He is the patron saint or Ireland. He was a Christian missionary and bishop in Ireland. Also, his father was religious and his grandfather was a religious leader.

When he had sixteen, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken as slave to Gaelic Ireland and here he spent six years working. Here he found God. One day, he can escape. He returned to his home with God's help and become priest. He preached the word of God around Ireland. He died in 461 due to his old age.

My sister in 2016, was in Dublin and she saw a march past for the Saint Patrick's Day. But you can see celebrations around the word, like the Trafalgar Square celebration, in which there are parades, special food, drinks and music in his honour. This day all people wear something green, like a elf, because it is said that this brings us good luck.
