BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

We should all be really happy!!!!

The school year has come to an end and I am really happy!!!

Why? Because some of our 1º Bachillerato students obtained excellent results at the Official Language School in Motril:

B1 in French: María Béjar, Mª José García, Joaquín García and Andrea Gutiérrez.

B2 in English: Alex Expaña & Andrea Gutiérrez almost got it. They just failed one part, which I'm sure they will pass in September.

And here's our SUMMER SCOREBOARD (click on it and you will see it), where we will be compiling all the comments, projects or anything our students do during the summer time.

I don't know if happiness is genetic or not, but something is for sure there are some people that are naturally more cheerful than others. As well, babies tend to be happier than adults (probably due to all the problems and concerns that we have in mind). Another interesting fact is that grandparents also tend to be happier than parents. It may be due to the fact that they have fewer responsabilities in life.

Read these related articles and to the listening exercise later, and then give me your opinion about the issue:

  1. Nowadays, we are very worried about problems that make us feel bad and sad. We have many things to do during the day and this can make us feel stressed or annoyed. Is it worth it to be sad or is it better to be happy? Let's talk about what is the best.

On the one hand, adults are usually less happier than babies and grandparents, probably due to all the problems and concerns that they have in mind. These problems could be caring for their children, paying the mortgage of the house, the stress because of their jobs,.....They have many responsibilities in their lives and this is cause of their mood.

On the other hand, babies and grandparents tend to be much happier than parents. When you see a baby you can see how happy he or she is, they are always smiling and laughing. The same happen with grandparents, they are happier than adults, probably because they don't have already to work . It may be due to the fact that they have fewer responsabilities in life.

From my point of view, we should all be really happy because it isn't worth be sad. With a smile all is much more easy. I think people often are worried because of disputes, exasperations, family fights, fights of friends.... and it isn't worth because if you are happy you will enjoy more your life. That is what I think!! ;)

  2. The people are worry for their happiness and it causes that they feel stressed. For someone, happiness is the thing more important in the life and they do anything to have it.

Children are happier than adults. They see life with other eyes, everything is new for them, they haven´t got any problem, they are curious, they laugh all the time, they are so innocent , they life a good time.

The adults are less happy than children because they have more problems and they have lived a part of their life, so they lose the curiosity and they have experience, but many adults are as happy as children because they don´t lose the essential of the life and his work is something that they love.

I think that we always have to smile and we must never give up because the life is so beautiful and we only have a life. The happiness don´t depend of the age.

  3. Happiness comes from both yourself and also other people. I think it mostly comes from yourself because life has a lot to do with decisions that you make. I can either overreact to something and let it really affect myself. Maybe it won't affect me at all. Happiness comes from inside, and other people can make a huge difference but what's inside can be such a bigger part. Happiness is all from within ones self. We control how happy we are, and we may not be able to control what happens in life. However, we are able to control how we react to it.

Perhaps it’s safe to say that most people want to be happy. They want to actually enjoy being here in this big, crazy, confusing world. But too many people struggle with being happy. They can’t seem to find happiness in life. Fortunately, there are plenty of strategies people can use to create happiness, or at least strive for it. It really depends on one’s conviction to be always be happy, to have gratitude even when it is difficult to find, having the right people in one’s life, and a person having a job (or at least a hobby) that they feel good about doing, that somehow brings meaning, direction, and purpose into their lives.

It is really simple, believe it or not. One must have a conviction to be happy no matter what trouble life throws at them; because life can certainly disrupt a person’s happiness, getting in the way of them enjoying their own life, with all the countless and never-ending mishaps and suffering. Happiness is something that comes to those who expect it and therefore deserve it. Happy people make gratitude a daily habit, even a ritual.

In conclusion, happiness can most certainly be obtained and not just momentary happiness, either, but true, long-lasting happiness, which is not something that just comes to a person; in fact, most people have to work very hard for a very long time to be happy, to create, and to produce, it. But it is something that a person can create on their own. It is not unattainable. Happiness can happen to anyone, mostly because everyone deserves to be happy.

  4. Many people are very worried by the problems that they have. When they have many things that to do, they can have depression, etc. I am going to write on this topic.

On the one hand, The babies and the major persons are mas happy that the adults. The babies don't have problems in the life. The major persons are more happy because they don't have to work. But the major persons when they were young spent the same problems that the young persons. They give advices for the young persons don't worry and they are happy.

On the other hand the young persons are worried and sad because they have to look after of the major persons and the babies. Then, the young persons have many things that to do for the day and you add that they have to look after of the major persons and the babies, why they are sad because they don't have a time to rest.

In my opinion that the persons have to laugh because the experts say that to laugh is very good for the health. The laugh produces that the persons do not have depression. Also when we laugh, we improve the memory and they eliminate endorphins.

  6. Sometimes people are very happy with their lives , but what is really happiness ? Is happiness linked to a longer life ? Is there a gene that makes you happy ? What is the truth of all this ? .

Happiness is a state of mind that the people have when they enjoy doing something good or when they fell well to have all that they want . However , sometimes people feel sad although they have all that they want and that´ because to be completely happy you must first feel well about yourself .

Experts say that being happy doesn´t just improve the quality of your life , it may increase the quantity of your life as well . Chinese scientists say that there is a " happy gene " that may increase romantic relationships . They discovered if you had two copies of this gene , you had more possibilities to have a romantic partner .

In my opinion happiness is in yourself and you have the power to decide if you want to be happy or not .

  7. Happiness is an emotion that happens in a human being when he believes he has reached a desired goal. There are many ways to feel happiness, such as when you get a good score on a test, when you eat your favorite food, or when you have a good time with your friends. However, one question that people have been asking themselves for a long time is: where does happiness come from? And there are many different opinions about this. In this essay we are going to talk about two different thoughts: people who believe that happiness depends only on us and people who believe that happiness is conditioned by genes.

On the one hand, we have people who think that happiness depends only on yourself. Besides, this is the most common way of thinking and has been thought for a long time. "To be happy means to realize ourselves, to reach the goals of a human being" said old thinkers like Aristoteles. Furthermore, this theory makes considerable sense because if you do an action to try to find happiness you will probably get it.

On the other hand, there is a more recent theory called the "happy gene". According to some experts our level of happiness throughout life is strongly influenced by the genes with which we were born. In addition, Edinburgh University has done numerous studies on this. This theory tells us that our genes can condition how we take things, and therefore that we have a higher or lower level of happiness in our life.

To put it in a nutshell, everyone has a different way of thinking and everyone can support a different theory. Nevertheless, no theory is 100% certain, so we can never trust one of them completely. In my opinion, genes may have something to do with our happiness, but I think we are mostly in control of our happiness ourselves.
