BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Couchsurfing is no picnic

Again it is getting hotter and hotter, but we are getting tired of going to the beach!!! First, this post would like to present these two expressions you can find in the section The English We Speak (BBC Learning English):

  • No picnic   >>>  What does it mean in Spanish?

  • Wet weekend   >>>>  Was last weekend a wet weekend for you?

And here's the solution for those who haven't got much money and feel bored of doing the same things all over again  >>>   COUCH SURFING (Listening exercise, 6 Minute English, BBC Learning English).

Some related articles:

By the way, do you know what Airbnb is? It comes from two concepts: 'airbed' and 'bed & breakfast'.

  1. Couchsurfing is similar to a social network in which travellers try to find a place to sleep. They ask for a free sofa in a house in the place that they are going to visit and people in that place can offer his sofa without being paid. It is the objective of the webpage. In this way, persons who don't have much money could find a place to sleep in and they won't need to book a hotel or something similar that would cost a lot of money.

I think that it is a good opportunity for teenagers or young people to travel around the world since they might don't have much money to pay a hotel and thanks to Couchsurfing they will be able to visit other cities. On the contrary, there may be people that create false accounts and invite others to sleep at his house, but when they arrive they realise that it is false and they don't have a sure place to spend the night.

Airbnb is different from Couchsurfing because you can book a house or a bedroom of a person that publish it, but you have to pay for it. It isn't free as the Couchsurfing.

  3. I have heard of Couchsurfing a long time ago, but I wasn't so bold so I have never tried it. As I knew more about Couchsurfing, I found it an excellent way of travelling around the world by sleeping on other people's couches. And I really want to actually try it. To my way of thinking, CS has many adventages. To begin with, it is chaper than the traditional ways of travel. In our youth, we usually want more experiences and adventures. But as college students, we don't have much budget for our travel. Luckily, we can choose CS. We sleep at the hosts' couches (sometimes they'll provide a bed, and it is totally free of charge.

Thus we can go to the places we never thought we could afford to. Furthermore, CS can not only broaden one's horizon by travel but also it contributes to let one makes more friends from all over the world by chatting with them. It is mutual, and both the travelers and the hosts can beneficit from it.

What's more, Google the emergency telephone number before travel in case accidents happen. Last but not least, always prepare a plan B.

From what has been mentioned above, we can come to conclusion that the beneficits of Couchsurfing far outweigh its risks as long as we learn how to protect our safety. Besides the money-saving adventages, you can also make friends that can last a lifetime as well as learn different cultures and become a wise person.

  4. Summers are increasing and increasing their temperatures, and going to the beach is becoming to be bored. For this reason, people go out at night to take some drinks, go picnic, do surfing, do some sports,....In this post that Albert has put he ask us what means no picnic, well, let's explain it.

The expression "no picnic" means that it's a difficult or unpleasant situation. A situation would be when you live on a fifth floor and you have to go down the stairs every day, when starts raining and you have forgotten the umbrella or for example, like in this link where two people want to do a picnic but Rob has his car broken and it has been a difficult task buy the food and prepare the lunch for the picnic, by this reason he sais this picnic is no picnic.

On the other link, Albert has put other English expression, this expression is "a wet weekend". A wet weekend describes a boring or disappointing experience or person. So you can also use the expression to describe a boring people.

To sum up, a no picnic is a difficult or unpleasant situation and a wet weekend is a boring person or a disappointing experience. However, in this link Rob sais that it's no picnic, I think that it isn't because it was worth the effort because he prepared the picnic.

  5. Couchsurfing is a platform by which those who travel to new places can find people who are willing to share their space and / or their time with strangers, in order to bring local knowledge to strangers and make both travel and live in that Place a richer experience, this platform can put on you as much as wishes about your private life, it is a platform very easy to use, you register and you start to meet people of the area that you want. When you want to travel somewhere to find people in that location, you can look for people who are willing to offer you their home or somewhere to stay for sleep and even willing to stay with you to just have a coffee or show your city.

From my point of view it is very good idea to register this type of platforms, it seems a good option to travel through this platform because you can meet many new people from all over the world, travel with little money and live unforgettable experiences.
But on the other hand I would not trust too much because you do not know who is behind each account on the platform, so I think you should be very careful and looking at all profiles of people to see if they have good ratings.
Overall, I think if we travel through couchsurfing because after discovering that this platform exists and for what it was used it gave people experiences and all positive things some in which they say if you are going to travel through De couchsurfing is one of the best experiences. After every trip you always make new friends from all over the world

  7. Couchsurfing is a social network where the people can ask house for sleep in the sofa free, and other persons offer his houses for tourist for sleep. The persons who use this applications and don't have much money could find a place to sleep in and they won't need to book a hotel or something similar that would cost a lot of money.

Is a good idea for that the people can travel to low cost, but on the other hand I'm not very sure, because you do not know the person you sleep with at home, for this reason i dont use this aplication, because you can be sleeping with a murderer and not know. And if you have 17 years or younger, your mother will not leave you use this applications.

This aplication is similar to blablacar where you can travel in car with other person to low cost, but how in Couchsurfing, i I do not feel safe using these applications for this reason i dont use this applications

I remenber when i was have 15 years, i was go for first time to madrid and I stayed in the house of some friends there, and my mother would not let me go, until I met these guys and already realized that they were good people and then if I went, but unlike this application I already knew of More time to the people with whom I stay to sleep

  8. Coachsurfing is an app which helps you to get in touch with people who are willing to lend you their bed or sofa for free. This app, which has passed the 15 million users, as well as many others like Airbnb, Homexchange or Workaway, allows you to travel on a minimum budget or with no money at all. So it is the perfect new way to travel all around the world for students and adventuroust people.

On the one hand, this has many advantages, firstly it reduces drastically the cost of travel, due to that accommodation is the one of the biggest expenses. Besides, coachsurfing offers a new way of visiting foreign cities, not as a simple tourist, because you know local people who will help you to truly know the city by advising you in the best places and telling you a bit of its history. Furthermore you will make a friend, the hosts are usually really friendly people who love a cultural exchange.

On the other hand, it could be dangerous, because staying in a house of somebody you don't know is risky. In order to avoid problems you must have a second option, and be extremely careful. There are some tips when you are using these kind of apps. Firstly, do not message the first person you find, you ought to make sure their account is verified and they have proven to be a real person. Secondly check their profile, if they have done any previous hosting they will have reviews, so make sure you read them all. However, keep in mind that they don't know anything about you either so when you message them remember to talk about who you are, who you travel with, why do you want to visit the city and why have you chosen them.

I personally haven't used Coachsurfing but, I did use Homexchange twice, and I am greatly pleased by the experience. The first time I stayed 10 days in a beautiful house in a town near Paris completely free. We made really good friend with our host, she was the most helpful, she brought us maps and books with things we could do and we spent a lovely picnic day speaking french. The second time I went to Madrid with one friend and my sister, we stayed with a kind woman ,who did't want us to pay, and a girl of our age with whom we got really well.
I would recommend these apps a hundred percent.
