BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Legends of the past

Nowadays we have got rivalries such as Federer-Nadal, Nadal-Djokovic, Djokovic-Murray... but not long ago we had one of the most legendary rivalries of all times in tennis and that was between Jimmy Connors, who managed to reach the semi-finals of the US Open at the age of 39, and John McEnroe, a genius with such a moody character who is remembered not only for his excellences in tennis, but also for his ill-tempered arguments with the umpires.

By the way, did you know that the chair umpires in tennis are like the referees in football?

Here are some videos about these two great players, John McEnroe and Jimmy Connors:

    1. It an open secret that through the history there have been a lot of rivalries between actors, footballers, singers… but there are some that have been so important and famous, for example: the rivalry between John McEnroe and Jimmy Connors, which is nowadays known by everybody.

It is possible that if you are not into tennis, you don’t know who they are, although they are legends of this sport. Jimmy Connors is considered an American tennis star, who ended his career with a men's open–era record 109 singles titles and 1,337 victories, along with eight Grand Slam singles titles.

However, John McEnroe is not far behind, he is one of most successful tennis players of all times, who is also known for his violent verbal abuse at ballboys, chair umpires, photographers and other people. In spite of this, he won 17 Grand Slam titles, 77 career singles titles and 77 doubles titles..

To conclude, I would like to say that in total they played nine times in Grand Slams and it would have been a pleasure to see these two legends in a duel, since they were the best players of their time and also due to their powerful personalities, which created a unique atmosphere.

  6. It is very typical to know rivalries in the world of sport. In the tennis for example during many years have existed the rivalry Nadal-Federer. In the football, maybe we see the most known: Leo Messi-Cristiano Ronaldo. Not only in this years; historically also existed other rivalries about Jimmy Connors-John McEnroe, two legends of tennis.

Jimmy Connors was the best tennis player of the history. He was number 1 of the ATP ranking nine times between 1974 and 1983 and Top 10 during 16 years between 1973 and 1988. Due to his long and successful career, Connors maintains to this day some of the most important records in the history of the tennis. He is the tennis player with more titles ATP, with 109 titles in 161 finals.

John McEnroe is considered one of the greatest talents in the history of sports, for his 7 Grand Slam titles, 3 ATP World Tour Finals, 77 individual titles and 78 in doubles. He was number 1 of the ATP ranking in both singles and doubles, being together with Stan Smith and Stefan Edberg the only ones to achieve it. McEnroe was also number 1 of the Grand Prix tennis circuit in 1979, 1980 and 1984.

Finally, I wish to see play one of them, because they are the best tennis player of the history as I could read and I would like to see them play with other legends like Nadal or Federer.

  7. Firstly, I would like to say that never in my life I have watched a match facing Jimmy connors and John McEnroe, but It´s very tipical to hear about these two players in almost every tennis match, or even other sports.

But without having seen any match, I think I can imagine what Connors and Mcenroe have meant and still meaning to the world tennis, I won´t say this very loud cause I could be wrong, but in my opinion the biggest rivaldry on all sports it isn´t beetween Cristiano and Messi, Rossi and Marquez, Connors and McEnroe, who I mencioned previously. It´s Rafa and Roger´s rivaldry

It´s impossible to repeat that many consecutive weeks and years the same final, It was like, I don´t care What happens beetween Monday and Saturday, Beetween the round of 16 and semifinals, lets skip the tournament to the sunday because it´s the same week by week

Until some years ago, we thougt we had lost all that sunday afternoons that we used to have, new players appeared, like Thiem, Zverev, Kyrgios, Pablo Carreño, and other started to disappear, Ferrer, Murray, Wawrinka, Djokovic, but not these two living legends of sport

For Rafa, it seems that this year, 2018, will be the year of the eleven, eleven Montecarlo opens, eleven Barcelona opens, which are about to become real, and probably eleven Roland Garros

  8. The rivalry in the sport is a great virtue offered by the best players of each team, for example Messi-Cristiano Ronaldo have a great rivalry to see which takes more titles individually and collectively.

In tennis this rivalry is between Rafa Nadal and Federer.

A tennis star is Manuel Santana is a former Spanish tennis player; Winner of four Grand Slam tournaments, he was one of the most outstanding sports figures in Spain in the 1960s.

Until the triumph of Conchita Martínez in 1994 and Rafa Nadal in 2008, Manolo Santana was the only Spanish player who had managed to win the Wimbledon tournament, although in the amateur category.
