BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Clash of Titans

It is a well-known fact that I am a passionate of tennis. This very early rainy morning Youtube gave me the opportunity to travel back in time to my teen days when two of my favourite tennis players were on their summit of their careers. Surprisingly, you can come across some interesting pieces of information in this documentary, bearing in mind that Borg was supposed to be as cold as ice and McEnroe was known all over the world for his bad manners on court. I hope you will enjoy the video and that it is easy for you to understand it.

Here's a listening exercise to do: How creative should we be? (6 Minute English, BBC Learning English)

You can read these newspaper articles about the issue 'CREATIVENESS':

The English We Speak: NO FEAR! (6 Minute English, BBC Learning English)

What is the difference between 'even though' and 'even if'? Check it here in a new episode of English in a Minute.

  1. HALLOWEEN
The Halloween party has become one of the most popular celebrations of the 21st century. Although the current version, that of the costumes and the 'trick or treat', comes from the United States and has been exported to the rest of the world in recent years, the origin of this party is European and much older. The celebration that we know today as Halloween is a mixture of the pagan festival of Samhain and the religious holiday of All Saints' Day I very like this celebration because I get dressed up,I wear a witch costume . I also go out with my friends to ask for candy and to throw eggs. Some years we play hide-and-seek in the cemetery or we frighten the other children who go there to play. But this year we went to a friend's house and we watched a movie while we ate popcorn.

    1. All Saints' Day is a special day in my home.

It's a very family party, the whole family eat together.

Afternoons are very funny; we compete with table games like parchis, roast chestnuts, popcorn, gluten-free cookies...

Being united this day is very important, we remember our loved ones, and we enjoy remembering them.

For me it is not a costume party, it is much more; it is to remember all those great moments lived with my great grandmother.

  4. All Saints' Day is a special day in my house.

It's a party where my relatives have been seeing each other for a year

    Afternoons are very entertaining;
where my grandfather tells us things of his time and the nicknames of the people of my town

Being united this day is important, because I like to see my family together again, we remember
    to our deceased relatives

For me it's not a costume party, it's much more; It's being with the family and it's a good time to be laughing and having fun.

  6. Nowadays, our children go to school and learn a lot of things, but are we sure that what they learn?

In New York city, the preschool children learn through a different method called "Montessori". This method consists of a period of free play to develop the creativity. They also paint and draw.

Kids build stuff and pull it apart on a daily basis and without realizing, they are getting involved in the "divergent thinking" which is the key to solve problems.

In my opinion this methodology is a good way to learn because kids can develop their creativity in a different and funny way.

  7. Halloween is a party that everyone celebrates.

Halloween also has another name "All Saints´ Day". It´s the day we celebrate all the dead: friends, family and a day where you meet your family. It is customary for all children to disguise, ask for sweets, throw eggs, play games and visit the cemetery...

For me, Halloween is very important because despite growing up, being an adult, that day is when you become a child again.

  8. In the moment of life that we live our children go to school to learn, but are we sure that they are taught well?
In the USA, children learn from Internet programs, teaching is made more fun because it is done through games.
In my opinion, these programs are better for children because they develop their intelligence capacity better.

  9. Halloween party has its origins in the United States and began to be celebrated with the name "Samhaim" ,which means "end of summer". It is celebrated on October 31st. People, on October 31 dress up as monsters, witches, vampires, skeletons ... and they knock on houses and say "trick or treat" and many people give them candy. People disguise themselves that day because it means that the dead spirits return to the world of the living. In my town and in my school there are passages of terror that night. On Halloween, houses are decorated to make them look scary with pumpkins, bats, ghosts, witches, spiderweb, spiders...

On Halloween, people who don't go out watch scary movies. Every year I dress up with a mask and I go with my friends along the streets of my town.

  10. There are several theories about the origin of Halloween one takes us to an ancient pagan festival celebrated by the Celts two thousand years ago called "Samhain" it was in the United Kingdom,Ireland and in the nortwest of France,it was celebrated the November 1st to remember the beginning of winter and the end an the harvest.
Her name coming of the expression "All Hallow Eve" (in spanish "víspera de todos los santos).
