BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Buttons and keys, part of our digital world!!!

Yes, we are always pressing buttons to change TV channels, to switch on your computer, to dial a phone number... or keys to write on your computer, to play the piano... so our fingers are essential!!!!

However, let's go back to square one. Buttons were once used to fasten your coat before the invention of zips. By the way, do you know the meaning of the verb 'to fasten'? With which other expression is this verb very common? so let's start by something as simple as sewing a button, which not everybody knows how to do it.

How to sew on a button - it really is this simple (The Guardian)

So, here are some articles related to the issue:

However, nowadays we have gone a bit further on and instead of pressing/pushing buttons we touch screens:

Why touch screens push our buttons (The Independent)

Here's a listening exercise to do: Why we press buttons (6 Minute English, BBC Learning English)

A final article for you to read:

  2. At the beggining, buttons were used to fasten or close shirts and coats. Now we still using buttons to fasten clothes, but we also use buttons to do almost every thing we do, from change the TV channel to play an instrument. Nowadays there are buttons everywhere which do many things, but there are also buttons that don't do anything. This buttons, called "placebo buttons" don't do anything, but we press them because we believe we can control some machines, like lifts or traffic lights. In the case of lifts, the placebo button often is the button that open and close the doors of the lift. Thus button only works if the lift's door is closing, but we press it even when the lift's door is open.

  6. A button is a part of an object that has the function of doing an action. There are buttons in practically everything, there are buttons to control the TV, gamepads, keyboards, or even in microwaves or in washing machines. Yes, these are things you use every day, but you have never stopped to think in the number of buttons that one of them can contain, or in the way they make your life easier. There are buttons of many different forms, circle buttoms, small buttoms, big buttoms, etc, but all of them make the same function. This little invention is really useful, because if it wasn´t there, you would have to plug the microwave´s wire to electricity and unplug it when you finish using it, instead, pressing buttons you can make your microwave work or stop. Buttons are really useful invenctions!

Buttons serve to fasten and close and in some cases to decorate the shirt or coat, buttons are also present in TV remote controls so that you turn the TV on and off or you change channels, to raise and lower the volume ... Although we do not realize it. We use buttons very often, as for example when you play the game the control is made up of buttons, in an elevator we also press buttons, when we play an instrument, such as the clarinet, we are playing several buttons.
Our fingers press many buttons every day although we do not realize it.
    The buttons have 2 functions:
    - They serve to fasten and close almost all garments, and in some cases ornaments.
-In electrical devices if we press them ,they can perform various functions.

  10. The world button has got many meanings. One of them is for the shirts. Some are only to decorate while it's more normal for them to be to hook up shirts. While also there are electrics buttons. When you press them they receive information and they execute it. As well in this definitions there are buttons that don't serve much. For example, the buttons in the traffics lights don't usually work. Or in some clocks there are four buttons but one of them is for decorate. Other example are the elevators. There's a button to open the door when it are closing but the people press it for close the door because they believe that is for close it.

  12. Today we use buttons for many things, although we may not realize it.

We use them in washing machines, televisions, cars, cell phones, etc.
All these things take advantage of the buttons to increase or decrease the volume, turn the washing machine or the car on or off, etc.

We practically use the buttons for everything.
Also one of the things we use buttons for the most are t-shirts, coats, jackets, etc.
Its function is to fasten the shirt, coat or whatever so that it remains open although it can also serve as a decoration utensil.

  13. Actually, there are buttons all around us, in nearly every place; in elevators, in videogames and in almost every electronic device. Can you imagine a world without buttons? It would be very difficult to survive and have a normal life, at the point that anyone would know what to do to cook and live.

Nowadays, there are electronic devices everywhere, which has its advantages and disadvantages. As I said at the beginning; electronical devices are very useful in humans lives such as gadgets for cooking or even finding your way through the street where you don’t know where to go. You can even order food if you don’t want to go out to buy it yourself. You just have to handle on your phone, install a couple applications and order whatever you want from the restaurant you want. That’s amazing!

On the other hand, I think that everyone should be careful with mobile phones and other devices because they have disadvantages too. For example; they can create addiction if you use them too much and they can influence in people’s life, studies and family; specially in teens. They can also generate fire if you don’t look after them such as ovens, the iron or the heater.

In conclusion, I think that electronic devices are very useful and make everyone’s life easier, but we must be careful in how and how much we use them. So remember, don’t press the turning on button if it’s not necessary.

  14. Buttons are something that are very present in our daily life as in controls, elevators ... They are everywhere so it is difficult for me to imagine a life without them, can you imagine it? If there were no buttons, I don´t know what objects we use daily such as the microwave or the television remote would have, It would be weird and I think that many people could not live without them as they make everything easier.

They make life much easier and more comfortable, but we already see that we would not know how to live without them. there are buttons and devices everywhere and for everything, such as the car remote that helps you see it in case you don't know where it is, also the gps that help you find the fastest way and guide you. There are applications on the internet that can be used for everything from an application to order food to an application to exercise.

They also have their dangers since if you aren´t careful you can get into a mess, being in our daily life becomes an addiction since to go out on the street what is not forgotten is the telephone and we have to be careful about the pages that we put in addition to that we must have a responsible consumption towards this especially if we are teenagers since it is a source of distraction.

I think that these devices make our live more easy but we shouldn´t get used to this since this could converted in an adiction which is the same dangerous than the subtances. We we waste a lot of time on this but we use them every day since for example buttons are necessary in the kitchen. We could try to be without this for a while but since it is something so frequent in our life it is almost imposible. In conclusion I think they are good but we must make good use of them

  15. Nowadays there are buttons everywhere, in our homes, restaurants, video games ..., we are surrounded by buttons !!
Can you imagine a world without buttons? I believe that now we could not live without them since electrical appliances have, appliances also, it would take us a lot to get used to since almost all the things we use have buttons.

We are used to using buttons, since on almost all sides there are electronic devices, devices and they are made up of buttons. They make life much easier and more comfortable. This has its advantages and disadvantages.
    The advantages they have are:
-They are easy to use, and it makes your life easier and more comfortable, since pressing a button on a device such as a microwave makes it easier for you to cook or on a GPS to find a place, even to make a purchase or order. You just have to download the applications and select what you want.

Although I also think that everyone should be careful with mobile phones and other devices because they also have disadvantages.
-They also have their dangers since if you are not careful you can get in trouble, being in our day to day becomes an addiction since to go out on the street the first thing we pick up and we do not forget is our phone. To use it responsibly and more so if we are teenagers because if we do not use it as we should we can get into a big mess and they can also create addiction if you use them too much and can influence life, studies ...
-If we do not make correct use of appliances such as oven, stove, washing machine ... and we do not know how to use them, we could cause a big mess such as fire and set the house on fire.

In conclusion, I think that these devices make life easier and easier for us and they are good, but we have to be careful when using them and know how they are used and how long we use them.

To play videogames we usually use a control , buttons or tactil screen . But I think in the future there won't be buttons , there will be tactil screen for everything and everywhere .

  17. Today, buttons are very important to us because we see and use them in most electronic devices. the buttons are a great help to us because just by pressing them we can make a mechanism work or put a device to work

We can find buttons on the TV remote control, on mobile phones... during the day we touch more and more buttons that serve to make life easier, but the easier the better.

Many devices such as mobile phones for example use buttons to turn on, which can be a disadvantage because if the button breaks you will not be able to turn it on and you will have to go to repair it, that is why some mobiles can also be turned on by pressing the screen 1 or 2 times

    1. Nowadays we are just pressing buttons for everything. There are buttons in the TV controller, in our mobile phones, in our cars, in our keyboards or mouses... and in our shirts when we fasten them or in some old coat before the invention of zips.

Oh, talking about the verb to fasten, it refers to attach or connecting something in a secure manner. We are used to using this verb in the expression "fasten your seabelt" when you are travelling or moving in cars or buses

  19. There are many reasons why addictions begin. In the case of drugs, alcohol and even technology, these reasons affect the way you feel, both physically and mentally. These feelings can be enjoyable and create a powerful addiction to use these substances again.

While most people think of addictions in terms of drug addictions or alcohol addictions, technology can be just as addictive and just as difficult to cure. Think of it this way: If you’re surrounded by technology, and you have a technology addiction, it’s not very easy to avoid using electronic devices. There are also many causes of technology addiction. However, with the right kind of treatment, it’s possible to move past even the most challenging technology addiction.

The issue is when technology is so addictive a person is unable to do anything other than use technological devices. This could mean someone who has to always carry their smart phone for fear of missing a text or call, or an individual who constantly avoids social situations in favor of interacting on online message boards. When technology takes precedence over real life, it presents an enormous concern and should be taken very seriously.

As a final conclusion, I think that there are lots of things that we are addicted to and we’re not even conscious of, but I think that technology addiction is the worst one and the most frequent nowadays, but I also think there are numerous steps that we can use to treat this addiction.
