BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Any broken-down or worn-out items? Remember to upcycle them!

Upcycling is a new concept in the world of recycling you can analyse in our Lingohack episode and later you can also see how to improve your memory.

Apart from that, in this post I also bring you the issue of bilingualism at schools and the discussion about this issue.

  1. Upcycling is a method in which old or discarded materials are converted into something reusable.

The difference between upcycling and recycling is simple. Recycling takes consumer materials such as plastic, paper, metal, and glass and breaks them down so that they can be made into a new consumer product (usually of lesser quality). When you upcycle an item you aren’t breaking down ant materials, just purely refashioning it. Additionally the quality of the upcycled item has same or even better quality than the original.

Upcycling is beneficial towards the environment because the act saves or removes materials from the waste system. It also requires less energy than recycling and encourages innovative thought process

People who upcycle can take part in a plethora of upcycle projects, depending on skill and confort ability level. You can upcycle almost anything, including wine bottles, jeans, wire hangers, etc.

  3. Nowadays, most of our schools are bilingual. They teach foreign languages from an early age, because their objective is to see students fluent in two foreign languages by the time they finish secondary school. English is the first foreign language they normally teach, and French, the second.

But do you know the pro´s and con´s of a bilingual school?
On the one hand, in a bilingual school, one of the main advantages is the balance of languages. Children are educated in both languages on a daily basis which gives them the opportunity to naturally speak and think in the languages. Children who go to a bilingual school will be taught in two languages and therefore learn to think in both.

On the other hand, bilingual schools can be expensive because most of them are international or private, therefore tuition fees can be quite expensive. Moreover, not all bilingual schools offer a balanced education in both languages because in many there is a dominant language, then a second language. For a child to really have a bilingual education, it needs to be consistent throughout the years.

To end up, I think that learning foreign languages will help us a lot in the future to find a job, or when we travel or search information on the Internet.

  4. Nowadays English is one of the most important language in the world . For this reason it is important that children learn to speak it and understand it since they are young . There are some bilingual schools and some pros and cons of studying there .

On the one hand if you study in a bilingual school , you will learn faster the language . In the future you will have more chances to find a good job and work in the field you like . Moreover , you will have more chances to travel a lot too .

On the other hand in a school class there are children with different levels , so this causes that there is an academic difference and some students have difficulties to learn in this kind of schools.
Moreover , almost all bilingual schools are so expensive and sometimes students don´t have enough money to pay them .

In conclusion I think that learning English and other languages is so important to get a good job in the future .

  6. Nowadays speaking english can be so important as being able to speak your own mother tongue. English is one of the most spoken languages in the world and most of our schools are bilingual. But, what are the pro´s and con´s of learning two or more languages?

On the one hand, bilingual or multilingual children have the ability to dominate the languages at a very high level. Moreover, they are capable to pass information from one language to another in a easy way. Another advantage is that these children, who learn two or more languages in their childhood, have more oportunities to get a job, especially in other countries.

On the other hand, children that practise a multilingual education take the risk of not reaching a good level in any of the languages. In additon, the children who grow with two or more languages suffer physical problems, pronunciation problems or gramatical problems. Nevertheless, these problems can be difficult to correct, and sometimes therapeutic help is needed.

In conclusion I think learning English and in general other languages is very important because they will help us to find a good job in the future.

  7. English has become one of the most important languages in the world. It is the third most spoken language, behind Spanish and Chinese. Because of this, this language is taught in many schools all over the world. In some of these schools they don't have only English classes in English, they study all the subjects in English. These schools are known as bilingual schools and their purpose is to make students to learn faster the language and make them bilingual.

These schools teach all subjects in English so the students can learn the language faster. Students usually have a high level of the language that they study (usually English, but also French and German.) when they leave school. Many students also go to England and talk with native speakers.

But this kind of schools also have disadvantages. Not all students can speak or learn a language easily so if they study in a bilingual school they won't understand what the teachers are saying and they will fail most of the subjects.

I think we should focus more on learning languages because it's very important when you are looking for a job or going abroad but I am against bilingual schools because I think that if we teach subjects like Maths in English most of the students won't understand it.
