BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

He told me he hadn't done it.

But why?? He felt so anxious that he couldn't do it!!! However, anxiety can also be good for humans to evolve. It is obvious that if you can overcome anxiety, you will be much stronger after that experience, so anxiety is not that bad in the end!!!

English in a minute: "In the end" vs "At the end"

And now let's do this listening exercise: Evolution and anxiety (6 Minute English, BBC Learning English).

Let's talk about the Reported Speech. Can you tell me how it is also called? What is the opposite? Where do you usually find many examples of Reported Speech? Police questioning / interrogation could also be another typical situation.

What is the BACK SHIFT process? What is the opposite of 'back'? what does 'shift' mean? In which technological device can you find this word?

Have a look at previous posts in this blog. Labels: reported speech , Reported speech exercise

Anxiety disorders form a category of mental health diagnoses that lead to excessive nervousness, fear, apprehension, and worry.

Vicky the Viking is a German-Austrian-Japanese animated television series which tells the adventures of Vicky, a young Viking boy who uses his wits to help his Viking fellows.
The series' main character is Vicky, son of Halvar, chief of the Viking village of Flake. Unlike his village fellows - including most of the other boys of his age - Vicky is blessed with a sharp and imaginative mind which helps his fellow Vikings out of many tight situations, including rival Viking lord Sven the Terrible.

  6. People suffering from anxiety, have a very bad time. they do not sleep, they almost do not eat, they are overwhelmed, they do not want anything.

These people do not live, they are overwhelmed, they can not deal with themselves, they come down for anything, they do not diffuse, they see everything black, every black thing that happens to them, they get more anxious.

Anxiety is a very complicated disease, it must assist a psychiatrist or psychologist, for its treatment.

We have to help these people a lot, listen to them and know what is happening, understand their state situation and help these people.

You have to know the cause that causes that state of anxiety, to solve this anxiety.

  7. Anxiety is a defensive mechanism of all people, it is normal to have anxiety, it helps us adapt, and improves our ability to respond.
The control of anxiety is what keeps us going or stops us to give adequate answers.
I think that anxiety is good as long as it is controlled.
When I have an exam, I usually get nervous, and I create anxiety, but if I try hard, I get anxiety out.
To evolve, we must learn to control our anxiety, that's how I evolve.
This is the difference between I can not do it and I can do it.
If you are not able to control anxiety, you can have serious health problems.
Stress is what generates anxiety, if we can control stress, anxiety will be less.
Stress is good because it prepares us for difficult situations, but we have to prevent it from going on too long.

  9. Anxiety is an emotion which I am sure we all have experienced more times than we would have liked to. Some of its common symptoms are sweaty palms, an increase of the heart rate and more blood flowing through the vessels, besides it is caused as a response of a real or imaginary threat.

This feeling has been a true savior during evolution. "Fight or flight" is a reaction that has kept us alive, surviving dangers of predators and other dangerous situations that could have resulted in death. Furthermore, anxiety has another positive aspect applicable in nowadays' lifestyle and it's that anxiety pushes us to improve and do our best. If we didn't have this natural response we wouldn't be able to study hours and hours to do a good exam or to keep awake finishing some project. Quoting a CEO "Anxiety and a brilliant brain is the key of success".

However, anxiety is not a motivation to do things for everybody , some people find this feeling overwhelming and it disables them to do the pending tasks. Also for some people even a small decision triggers anxiety. In these cases anxiety is considered an illness and should be assisted.
Furthermore, we might be anxious for a long period of time, for instance we might be anxious due to an exam for days or even weeks, and that is not healthy at all.

To put it in a nutshell, anxiety is a natural feeling that we should be able to handle. I believe that most of it comes from school/work related matters ,so if we learn when it is worthy to worry and when it is not we will drastically reduce our likelihood to feel anxious.

  10. Anxiety is a feeling of fear, dread, and restlessness. It can make you sweat, feel restless and tense, and have palpitations. It can be a normal reaction to stress. For example, you may feel anxious before taking a test or before making an important decision.

Anxiety disorders are conditions in which anxiety does not go away and can get worse over time. Symptoms can interfere with daily activities, such as performance at work, school, and relationships between people. The cause of the anxiety is not known. Factors such as genetics, brain biology and chemistry, stress, and your environment can all play a role.

Risk factors for different types of anxiety disorders can vary. Among those that stand out being shy, traumatic events from the past, mental disorders or even some physical health conditions such as thyroid problems. You can have different symptoms. But all show a combination of difficult-to-control anxious thoughts or beliefs, physical symptoms, and changes in behavior.

In sum, anxiety is a dangerous disease, as in many cases it ends in death. The truth is that they do not give it the necessary importance, nor is there a treatment that helps to carry it as well as possible, so we should help people who suffer from it since it is not easy for them to live with it.
