BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Who taught you the most things? Why the mother tongue?

Who taught you the most things? Your Mum or your Dad? Or both at the same time? Are the teaching roles inside the family changing nowadays?

Well, things used to be so different. As babies or little children, we used to spend a lot of time at home with mothers and obviously we would learn from them, but nowadays mothers may be working and we may spend more time with our fathers, with our grandparents, or even at nursery schools.

In northern Europe many mothers, or fathers, may decide to stay at home and raise their children themselves and that would mean that we would go back to square one.

Anyway, children learn their languages from the people that are around them, so sometimes it's the mothers, or the fathers, or grandparents, or the nannies that take care of them! Just before they begin to speak they go through what is called THE SILENT PERIOD, when they just listen and listen without producing anything at all.

Write about how you learned to speak and to do many other things, and about the people who taught you most.

Why mother tongue matters

Here are some articles for you to read about all this learning process and even a listening exercise for you to do:

  3. My mother is one of the most important people in my life and also my dad, but she is probably the person who taught me all the things that I needed to know about life.

If you ask me , do you take your mom´s advice ? I will answer you that not all the time , and probably your answer will be the same as me. Once a time , when I was a child , my mother told me to pick up my toys but that time I didn´t do it . Now, if she asks me something , I will surely do it because now I know that my mum is right.

Obviously , not all the time mothers are right, but most of the times. Sometimes they are wrong too but you know she is right when you also think the same as her and you agree with her. My mother says that no metter how we look on the outside , the important thing is our actions and behaviours and this is what defines us .

I think you should follow your mother´s advice because she knows what is good or what is bad for you.

I learned to speak when i was one years old. My parents and my two sisters taught me to speak, walk and a lot of things, they tought me most, because i was all the time with them and they talk me and tought me new words. When i was seven month and my mother and my father go to work and my sisters to school, i went to the nursery school with other children and i learn other things, for example draw and sing songs.

    1. My situation is peculiar, I grew up with my mother and my grandmother, my mother worked in the pharmacy of my town and while she worked my grandmother took care of my brother and me, when my mother was not working we used to go to the park, to the beach, to the mountain ... but she ended up very tired and rested very little. Then she decided to leave her job to devote more time, but not having a salary she had to look for a job where she spent less time and could be with her children the time she would like.

I am very grateful for the effort my mother made to be with us, but it makes me angry that she could not work and be with us at the same time, because she was alone to take care of her children and did not have anyone to help her, the truth My grandmother helped her a lot, but she still had to quit her job.

There are many types of families, sometimes there are situations in which parents leave their jobs to take care of their children and others in which some family members help, and take care of the children, as in my situation, my grandmother.

In conclusion I think that parents make a lot of efforts to be with their children and I do not see that they have to leave according to what type of work and look for another to devote less time, when they should choose the job they are passionate about and not the job where they have to work less.

  9. My mother has always been the most important person of my life, because she helps me at all and she loves me just the way I am. She said that I trust myself and to be brave.

Sometimes, she is a bit boring but I know that it is for my own good, she always take care of me and when I have a problem she advises me. I love her so much but i never tell her, and I think that this sadness her...

She always tries to give me what I ask, and many times I don't value what she does for me. But my mother is the best and I would not change her for anything!

  10. Nowadays, children grow up with their father, mother, grandparents... It depens on the job of the parents for example, so, it can influence in the child.

For example, if either mother and father work, the child are usually going to be with her grandparents. It is my case. When I was child, my parents worked since early morning, so I stayed at my grandparents`s home. I learned to talk, and so many things, between my parents and my grandparents. And obviously, they were the persons who taught me more.

It is important to learn our language, but it is important too to defend ourselves, in other languages like English. People say that the ideal age to learn languages is up to 5 or 6 years. Obviously, If we study it, any age is good to learn idioms, but children pick up a small base since kids, it is better and easier.

In my opinion. I think we should try to learn different things of our family, and study different languages for our future.

  11. In my family, my mother is one who has taught me to do everything, because my father has always been working in the field, and he didn´t have enough time to stay with me, now my mother goes to work too, but when I was young she always stayed with me.
I have two sisters, but when I was a child one of them was studying in the secondary school and she didn´t spend time with me, the other was in the school and she always stayed with me. So I learned to talk with my mother and my sister.
I think that mother tongue is called like that, because in the past the children used to be always with their mothers, because women didn´t go to work, they were always in the house, cleaning the dust or cooking the meals, and the men were working in their jobs. They didn´t spend much time with their children, because they thought that it was a thing that the women had to do.
Nowadays men think differently than before and they want to spend time with their children and in some families it is the father who teach the children to do everything, and the mothers are working, but there are people that think woman must to stay at home and it is the man who must work and earn money.
In my opinion men and women can both have a job and they can also both stay at home with the children teaching them different things.

  12. Nowadays almost everybody can speak at least one language and even there are people who know how to speak a lot of languages. But how have they learned it?

Probably, children learn their languages from the people that are around them. Sometimes from their parents, their grandparents or from the person who takes care of him/her. But the use of sound is a very important part of the communication. They usually learn languages listening to their parents, and then, their brains keep the information to be used when they are able to speak.

There are also some people that have the capacity to learn several languages very fast and other people that have more problems or they learn them more slowly. Some studies show that infants begin their lives with a very flexible brain that allows them acquire any language. But with the time, this ability is decreased and adults find it harder to acquire a new language.

All in all, learning a language is very important to communicate with people from any country and I think that I´m very lucky to be able to hear because it is a very important factor in learning languages.

  13. Nowadays, people all over the world study a foreign language like English, Spanish, German or Chinese with the objective of living and working in countries where these languages are spoken. Learning a foreign language benefits everyone.

On the one hand, knowing a foreign language makes it easier to travel or to find a better job. In addition, it can help you understand other cultures when you travel abroad. The art, traditions and culture of any country, can be better understood if you have some knowledge of their language. Moreover, studies have shown that bilingual people are smarter than people who speak only one language. Multilingual people are even smarter. Learning a foreign language helps our brain in many ways. It allows us to make connections faster and remember things better.

On the other hand, learning foreign languages has disadvantages, too, such us the cost of the course and the time it requires. Furthermore, you have to be cautious, because while you are learning other languages, you can forget your mother tongue. When the native language is not maintained, important links to family and other community members may be lost. Until the age of about 12, a person’s language skills are relatively vulnerable to change. Studies have found that even nine-year-olds can almost completely forget their first language when they are removed from their country of birth or if they speak more in a foreign language than their native one. In adults, the first language is unlikely to disappear entirely except in extreme circumstances.

To conclude, there are numerous benefits to learning a foreign language. Travel and work are just two of them. Language skills also make us smarter and better.

  14. The German team is one of the best teams in the world, it has a total of 8 titles: 4 World Cups, 3 European Cups and 1 Comfederations Cup. It is in the second general position of the historical classification, surpassed by Brazil. They have qualified in eleven editions of the European Championship, having played six finals, more than any other team. She has also competed in three editions of the Confederations Cup, being the organizer in 2005. She won the title in the 2017 edition after beating Chile 1-0. In the historical classification of the competition, it is the fourth place.
