BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

  2. Everybody have done or will do an exam, but all of us have the same feeling AFRAID, although they are from different topic like your driving exam most of the we have done in our school.

Coronavirus have changed our exam because we have done with our ordinateur, this is not the same if we do the exam in school with our teacher seeing our hands. I belive that everyone has copied but there can be a person who has not done. This can can save the life in a difficult situation.

For that coronavirus the teacher life's have changed more difficult their students because we can copy more easier with our ordinateur and we being in our house.

In my opinion this is the worts dream although we are happy now also we will have to pay the price in the future with our selectivity exam. But the the students won't make this exam they are very lucky.

  4. Exams are a test which can be written or oral that is used to demonstrate knowledge about a certain topic. For example, students take exams in the high school with which teachers can evaluate them in all subjects. Although, exams cause a lot of trouble for students due to nerves before taking the exam … So, do you think that the best way to evaluate is through exams?

On the one hand, the exams are necessary because there is no other way to check if you know the knowledge of the subject, other than through an exam. Although, the question is why we go to the institute to be evaluated or to learn? So, I think that the Spanish educational system should find an intermediate way in which students can both be assessed and learn.

On the other hand, other people think that the exams should not exist due to many reasons. First, through the spanish educational system which is based on exams, students do not learn but rather we memorize. Due to, teachers usually explain quick the topic and once finished they give us an exam about it. In this way, at the end of the course, we hardly remember anything about the first topics of the course.

Because of all these disadvantages and many others about evaluating by exams, in other countries students do not take any exams. In these countries teaching is based on doing activities, projects ... and in this way students tend to obtain better results at the end of the years. Besides, students tend to like to study more because they do not have neither exams nor so much stress, which causes that many students hate studying in Spain.

To sum up, the educational system in Spain is not as good as the system of other countries. Therefore, between all of us we should change it so that if one day we have a bad day, we do not risk our future.

  5. When a topic is finished, an exam is done, this is what the teachers do to know if we have attended in class, on the one hand I see the exams well because we have to learn things and if not to take exams the students would not look at the topic, I also believe that there should not be an exam per quarter and with that exam the term is passed or not because everyone has a bad day and I think that teachers who do that kind of thing should take into account if the student works, attends class and does not bother, not only depend on an exam because I do not see it as fair, the truth is that a child does nothing in class then studies a little and passes another student who attends class and then comes to the exam and fails because has not studied much or had a bad day.
When it's time for the exams I get very nervous because I want to do my best in all the exams and get a good grade but many times I get overwhelmed and I need to clarify but I can't because I am a person who needs to study many hours, there have been times when I have spent the days of the exams almost without eating or sleeping because of the nerves of the exam.

  6. For me the exams have always seemed unfair for two reasons. The first is because it is very easy to copy according to the teacher who is putting it on you
students have always cheated on exams and no one can say otherwise because we have all cheated any time, even if it is a small question.
And, if students cheated in class, in confinement it has been much worse.

As each one was at home, everyone was looking for the question on the internet, they used the translator for some words and even made calls to ask them.
This has made the way we have taught classes difficult because it made teachers distrust their students, which is normal.

The second reason is because in many subjects taking tests means memorize a whole unit, which, in the end is useless because you end up forgetting everything. Nowadays, it is even harder, because every year is harder, which means more content and more units.

In summary, I think exams aren´t good enought to decide the way our life is going to take, and that we should change this exams, or at leasts, changing the way they are.

  8. Exams are what we use to evaluate the students’ work., but, are exams a good idea? I mean, nowadays we have all the knowledge we want in our hands. However it’s really complicated to know what is true from what is not so a teacher guide and knowledge is still needed.
Nonetheless; exams are still necessary to test our qualities and current knowledge. Exams don’t difference among people that is to say, if they are in a higher or lower level.
Even though, exams are not always fair, for example; you can have a bad day and fail an exam that you really studied well for.
In a nutshell, exams have some disadvantages but at the moment they are the only reliable way we have to test people’s capacities.

  12. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected educational systems worldwide, leading to the closure of schools and universities. The pandemic has hit the learners hard and both learning and examination have been affected due to school closures.

In UK, teachers and pupils call this year’s exam grades ‘’unfair’’ as almost 40% of the marks downgraded after examinations were cancelled earlier this year because of the COVID-19. Teachers were asked to provide predicted grades for each pupil and each subject and the moderation of these grades was done by the exam regulator Ofqual, taking into account the pupils’ previous exam results.

In Spain, the qualification system wasn’t very fair this year either. Teachers were asked to take into account the final grades of the first and the second term of each pupil and ensure that the majority of students pass the course. This system is not fair as it might give some students an unfair advantage over others.

To sum up, I think this year´s final grades were pretty unfair because lots of students have passed the year with grades that they didn’t deserve. Moreover, I consider that the hard work of some students was not properly reflected after all.

  13. Nowadays, if we want to have any degree we have to pass an exam. Every year we are used to having many tests, but this experience may not be enough if we do not pass them. Exams are tests that help teachers just to know if we have studied. So, are exams useful for us?

On the one hand, depending on the country, there are different education systems and different dynamics through which teachers teach students. For instance, if we pay attention to Spain, the way to teach and learn is very basic. We go to class, teachers explain us different lessons and finally we do an exam to show if we have studied. What we learn is to study memorizing for one exam only, and then we will probably forget the topic. There are many different ways to learn, more interactive and attractive for students. Furthemore, it is a waste of paper that we can avoid.

On the other hand, it is true that also depending on the student, it is important to do an exam. There are people who don’t care what to do, and they prefer to memorize a topic from a book and then forget it, because passing is enough for them. Besides, there are people who teachers know that they are not going to study if they don’t have to do an exam, so the only solution are tests. However, our future should not depend on doing an exam on a specific day, because all people can have a bad day.

To sum up, there are advantages and disadvantages in the debate on the use of exams. In my opinion, the number of exams should be reduced because if we fail them, it doesn’t mean that we haven’t got the knowledges. Moreover, exam time can be hard and stressful

  14. There is no doubt that Covid-19 has challenged our education system in so many ways. One of them relates to the exams. Our grades rely very heavily on them and with the impossibility of doing them the government has struggled trying to decide how to mark their students in a fair way.

On the one hand, there has been a huge downgrade in the UK. Their government has developed an algorithm which takes into account factors such as the number of students of each class and the pass result of other students to formulate their grade ,with the aid of their teacher's estimations.
This has caused many protests by the students, who believe that this system has been very unfair. Specially the students who live in poorer areas claim that they had suffered a much drastic downgrade than the people from private school.

On the other hand, Spain is the exact opposite case. Here we were based on our teachers predictions and we added one or even two points to our grades if we had done correctly all the assignments during quarantine. Also it was more difficult to fail a subject and we were given many opportunities to pass them by doing projects. This is also unfair but the students didn't seem as bothered with the issue and most of them accepted happily the upgrade.

In conclusion it could be said that we ought to learn from this experience and find another fairer way to evaluate, because we don't have a clue of how much this situation may last.

  15. Exams are still the most popular way to assess the knowledge learned by students in each subject of the school year. Through them , teachers can know if students are prepared, but are exams the best way to assess students ?

There are different ways to Know if a student has reached the goals of the school year , so there are different ways to assess a student. One of them is the traditional method , in which the teacher explains the lesson , sends homework to do at home and then , at the end of the unit, he sets an exam to know if students have got the necessary knowledge.

Another way is to do one exam just at the end of the term . This exam contains all of the differents aspects learned during that year. However , I´m not sure that this way of assessment is totally useful because students usually "forget" to study during the term and they start to study one or two weeks before the exam.

The word "learn" means getting as much knowledge as possible and hold it in your mind as long as you can . However , this doesn´t happen in many of students because they normally learn something for the exam and then they forget it . They just do it to get a good mark .

I think the best way to assess a student is to do an exam after a unit because you have to revise the material and that improves learning.

Exams cause students a lot of trouble because of their nerves before taking the exam

There are different ways of knowing if a student has reached the goals of the school year, so there are different ways to evaluate a student: On the one hand, in countries like Spain the school system is based on exams and not on learning. The teacher explains the topics to us and when we finish one of them we have an exam to show that we have understood the topic. It is based on memorizing and not really learning. This is not OK. We usually study a subject and when we are at the end of the school year we have forgotten the first subject that we had studied.
In other countries, students do not take exams to be assessed, their learning system consists of learning and not memorizing.

Today in. The day the exams depend on our future, if you get the necessary grade for what you want to study, you will be able to enter the university or not. If you have a bad day, you don't have a chance to correct your mistake.

In my opinion, the educational system in Spain is not as good as that of other countries, they should change the system and instead of being memorization it should be learning, since the exams should not depend on our future because we all have a bad one day day.

There are students who before these tests get very nervous for fear that they will forget what they have studied or for fear of failing. Although there are people who cheat and cheat by not studying, and in some cases copying is penalized if the teacher sees you do it.
There are countries where they don't take exams, and studying seems more fun. Because they understand things and not as in many cases in countries where if tests are done like in Spain, that many of the students when we study we memorize the subject instead of understanding it. And by memorizing it when we finish the exam we forget the subject.
I think that exams are important and should be done in all countries, and that understanding and understanding is better than memorizing, since in exams of some topics and many subjects, such as Selectivity, if we memorize it will be a disaster.

  20. Exams are part of our educational system. They are tests that allow us to rate the level of education of our children. But,are they really necessary? are they the best way to check what the children know?

On the one hand, many people defend the exams because they believe that help children to develop their personality, confidence and their interest in studying. In fact, many of them affirm that without exams, nothing will motivate pupils to learn and they would not pay attention in class. In addition, tests are a quick way to know what students have learned and help teachers to know the level of knowledge of students in a few minutes.

On the other hand, the marks are not objective and they don't show the progress of the student. For instance, many times the student hasn't had time to prepare the exam or maybe he/she has a bad day. Failing an exam can turn into failure or create a trauma for a person in the future.

There are also parents and educators who prefer a middle ground. They agree with the exams but they want them to be different. The thing that should not be done is to memorize for exams and that there should be another type of exam that evaluates the student according to their interests as well as the ability to speak in public.

All in all, there are pros and cons about exams. From my point of view, it is not a question of eliminating exams, but of finding a suitable way to evaluate, respecting the student's maturation process and preparing him for the challenges that life presents.

  22. Exams are something everyone has to do during his life. It doesn´t matter the subject, there are exams for everything: Maths, Spanish, english, French, History, and even PE or Music! Some people think this is the best way to check if you have learned the contents included in a unit, but in my opinion, this isn´t really effective, there are many things that can affect the result of an exam that you can´t control.

In my opinion, depending on the subject, exams are more or less important. For example I think Math exams or English grammar exams are ok, because we can´t learn that in another way. But I think that there are other subjects, like History or Biology that are based on memorizing, which doesn´t mean you have learned anything, it means you just know how to memorize a whole unit, unit that in a few days, you´ll forget.

There are other things in everyone´s life that can affect exams too, not everyone can deal with stress the same way, not everyone can be concentrated and happy the day of the exam, and not everyone is good in every subject, but each student is evaluated the same way.

In summary, I dont think exams are perfect, but I think there isn´t any other way to evaluate students, because if everyone was evaluated about the things he is good at, they wouldn´t improve as person, because they´d think they are good at everything. So students nowadays have to deal with that, and who knows, maybe in some years, the academic system changes, and everyone could do well at school.

  23. Exams are test that everyone has to do. Many people declare that they are crucial and help us to know what we really know.
At schools all the subjects are evaluated with exams, which can overwhelm students. They can cause many problems for students.

On the one hand, In countries like Spain the system of schools are based on exams and not learning. The teacher explain the topics to us and when we finish one of them we have an exam to show that we have understood the topic. It is based on memorizing and not really learning. This is not good. We usually study a topic and when we are at the end of the school year we have forgotten the first topic that we had studied.
Moreover, in other countries students haven't got exams. Their system is based on learning and not memorizing. At the end of the school year teenagers have learned more than memorizing a book. Furthermore, they learn with daily activities. Studying does not seem so boring.

On the other hand, exams are necessary in education. Students and teachers have to know what they really know. Many students are fake and cheat in exams and they don't study. For example because of covid-19 our school year have been interrupted and we have to continue studying by computer. Almost no student has failed online exams while in class they failed all the exams.
Exams can produce stress in young people. Many problems are related with exams. Selectivity is a series of exams that you have to do to have access to the university. It can be really harmful for the health of teenagers because they have a big responsability of their future. If you have a bad day, you don't have the oportunity to fix your mistake.

To put all in a nutshell, exams are indispensable and we need to do that, but I think that we should learn in a different way and not only memorizing from a book.
I totally agree with the systems based on learning and not memorizing and I think that teachers and students should organize themselves and don't put the exams on the same day or even week.

  24. The exams are a way in which you supposedly demonstrate all the knowledge that you have learned, or that you have been studying for a period of time. They are papers with some questions, on which the proofreaders are based to define and conclude if you have made an effort, or if you have studied and understood everything that you are supposed to know.

On the one hand, I agree that students should be assessed, and that they should demonstrate everything they know or everything they should know. and I also agree that exams are an acceptable way to demonstrate the knowledge acquired.

But on the other hand, I totally disagree with the validity that is given to those exams, the exams should not be given so much importance. A grade can't define a person, and all students can't be evaluated in the same way. Because all students do not have the same abilities.

To conclude, I think exams are given too much importance, as there may be situations where you have a bad day and don't focus on exams. There may be situations of students who get too nervous and do not know how to deal with that situation, there may be situations in which students do not have the ability to take the same exam as the rest ...

There can be many special situations. And all students should not be judged with the same criteria, because we are not all the same.

  25. There are different ways of knowing if a student has studied or is at least interested in the subject, even if it is wrong. The most common way is by taking a written exam, but in some places there are also oral exams. In other ways, homework is sent home so that they can take them to class. What do you think is the best way?

On the one hand that is most used by teachers is to take exams, but each teacher has their own method or their mania, since some do exams by topics, others do them when they give more than one topic and there are others who only do one which is quarterly, this last method is the least advisable.

The problem that students have today, including me, is that we study a topic to take the exam but we learn it by heart and in most cases we do not understand what we are reading and studying, so once we do The exam soon after, as we do not review it again, we forget, so when it comes to studying, we should understand things so that learning becomes easier.

Finally, I think that the best way to evaluate a student is by taking an exam for each topic, because if you do like some teachers, one that is quarterly is to play it on a single exam and having a lot of content is more difficult to learn the topics and they can even be combined with other more complicated exams.

  26. Every person had some test in his life, the students usually have test since they studying primary education. A test are a proof that can be either oral or written.

We normally have a determined time to do a test, and we have to know all the temary, and we have to write the things that the teacher asked to us.

First I think that the test are a lot of dificult, because you have to know the temary perfect, and you have to memorize a lot of information, and sometimes we have a lot of problems, test are a way to evaluate students that for me doesn't the correct form.

Second I don't like exams, and it is demostrated that examns, are a slower form to learn something. And i reckom that test are bad for students because there are a classification around the students, and the persons who has the better grade thinks that are better than the person who have lower grades.

The exams are for you to expose all the knowledge acquired in some questions on a topic or several that your teacher gives you to fill out, but I think it is not the best way to do exams.

There are many people who get very nervous when they are going to have an exam, and I include myself since I am very nervous, I can know the whole subject but when they give me the exam I go blank and forget things. Other people are very calm and can do the exam super well without getting nervous.

There are many types of exams such as oral, multiple choice, exams only one subject per quarter or there may also be quarterly although the latter is not very suitable to put.

Ultimately, I think that the exams should put them one exam per topic and thus be able to study less content, there are also people who study the exam all by heart without really knowing what they are reading or the meaning it has.
