BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

It is what it is

There are many situations in our everyday life where the only response we've got is "It is what it is" (BBC Learning English)  >>> To say that we must accept the reality of a difficult situation you can say this.

Examples:

You tried your best, but you still failed the exam. It is what it is.

Me and Tan just don't like each other. It's difficult, but it is what it is.

US President Donald Trump and Michelle Obama using the same idiom: "It is what it is"

Another critic situation nowadays is climate change. We have to accept it and face it as well as we can. Here are some interesting articles for you to read about the issue:

  3. Climate change is one of the greatest environmental threats facing the planet. The entire planet is experiencing a climate change which has an enormous impact on people’s lives and ecosystems.

To begin with, it has been reported that the average global temperature has risen by one degree in the last 30 years. Increases in ocean temperature and the Earth´s surface temperature, widespread melting of snow and ice, and the rising of sea level are some of the evidences regarding climate change.

What's more, scientists worry that climate change brings a real threat to the permafrost. Permafrost is defined as any type of ground that has been frozen continuously for two years or more. It contains massive amounts of carbon which are likely to be released as climate change heats up the world. Around a quarter of the northern hemisphere is covered by permafrost. According to a new study, the absence of sea ice in the Arctic is closely connected to the melting of permafrost.

All in all, climate change is one of the biggest challenges we face these days. Global warming will cause an important impact on our planet due to the release of high quantities of CO2 of the permafrost melting. It´s important that we all take the appropiate steps to reduce both air and earth pollution in order to save the planet from the consequences of global warming.

  4. Nowadays, climate change is one of the biggest problems in the world. A recent study has shown that one of the problems that most contribute to the warming of our planet is permafrost.Have you ever thought about the importance of the permafrost?

Permafrost can be defined as a type of soil that has been continuously frozen for two or more years, which has been around for thousands of years. The problem is that it is melting rapidly due to the increase in temperature that our planets have been experiencing during the last years and when it melts it emits large amounts of carbon into the atmosphere. Therefore, if permafrost emits gases like CO2 and methane gas into the atmosphere, the warming of the earth will increase.

On the other hand, scientists have found a link between sea ice in the Arctic and the presence or absence of permafrost. However, this soil is not only located at the poles, it is also located in some regions of Siberia, Canada, Greenland and Alaska, where approximately twice the amount of carbon that is currently in the atmosphere is stored. So, if the earth increases the temperature of the soils, greenhouse gases will rise due to the melting of the permafrost. In addition, the melting of this ice sheet has already destroyed many houses, forests and even ecosystems located on the permafrost.

To put all into a nutshell, it is very important that we take care of our planet. So, if we do not reduce both air and land pollution, it will be impossible to control global warming in the future.

  5. It is not something new that climate change is one of the biggest environmental problems in the world. But, have you ever heard of permafrost and why is it so dangerous for our planet?

Permafrost is the subsoil layer on the Earth's crust, which is permanently frozen due to its nature. It is found in very cold regions such as Canada, Alaska and isles located in the Atlantic ocean. The permafrost has existed for thousands of year and now is in danger because it is constantly melting. When the ice begins to melt, tons of methane and carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere.

The increase in temperatures in recent years have accelerated the process. In fact, many experts point out that an increase of 2ºC would suppose the loss of 40% of the surface of the permafrost. Furthermore, the melting of this layer of ice has destroyed many homes located above the permafrost and also forests and ecosystems.
Both methane and carbon dioxide are the main gases responsible for the greenhouse effect, and therefore, they contribute to global warming and the progressive destruction of our planet.

In conclusion, high temperatures contribute to the melting of the permafrost, which emits tons of harmful gases into the atmosphere. For that reason we should do all that is in our hands to reduce the pollution of the Earth and to protect our planet.

  6. There are situations in our life in which we cannot do anything. Situations in which you must accept what has happened or what is going to happen. And when this happens we can only respond in one way, and this way is by saying "It is what it is".

There are different situations in which you can use this expression, for example when you live with your brother, and you get along badly and you cannot stop living together. You can only say "It is what it is".

One situation in which this expression was very useful to me was last year. When my family and I wanted to go on vacation abroad, and we couldn't go because all the flights were canceled. In that situation, this expression served me to express my feelings.

Nobody likes to use this expression, since it is only used when you are not satisfied with something but you have to accept it, because you cannot do anything.
I hope you don't use this expression very often
