BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Mysterious craters appeared in Siberia

Climate change and the melting of the permafrost are behind this strange phenomenon: the appearance of craters in Siberia. Do we still need to convince people that we have a serious problem on Planet Earth? So get down on it!! (What does this expression mean?)

And here's another interesting topic related to climate change:

And school is starting next week, so get down on it!!! 💪😉👍

Here are some articles for you to read about the issue:

Today we'll be doing a writing exercise: 'A biography' & a review of the whole unit with our 1º ESO students:

                                                            SPORTS TIME

(Cambridge University Press)  You will do the exercises  on pages 91-92.

  1. Permafrost is a permanently frozen layer below Earth’s surface which consists of soil, gravel, and sand. Permafrost can be found on land and below the ocean floor, where temperatures rarely rise above freezing. That is why permafrost is often found in Arctic regions such as Greenland, the U.S. state of Alaska, Russia, China, and Eastern Europe.

There are two types of permafrost. One is from glacier ice, left over from the last Ice Age, and the other one is ice that has formed in the ground itself. An area can have continuous, discontinuous, sporadic, or isolated permafrost. The part of Russia known as Siberia has continuous permafrost, which means that there is a continuous sheet of frozen material.

A Russian TV crew flying over the Siberian tundra this summer spotted a massive crater 30 meters (100 feet) deep and 20 meters wide. Although scientists link it to climate change, they are not sure exactly how the huge hole formed.

Permafrost, which amounts to two-thirds of the Russian territory, is a huge natural reservoir of methane, a potent greenhouse gas, and recent hot summers in the region may have played a role in creating these craters. Studies show that gases, mostly methane, can accumulate in the upper layers of permafrost and create pressure that is strong enough to create a crater.

In conclusion, it is shown that global warming is causing an important impact on our planet due to the release of high quantities of CO2 of the permafrost melting. As the global temperature keeps rising, I think scientists must research the crater formation phenomenon urgently to prevent possible disasters.

  2. Climate change is affecting the earth a lot, so we have to take care of it. Some examples of how to take care of it are: do not throw garbage on the ground, if you have to go somewhere that is not very far, use the bicycle or walk. Another method would be to clean the beaches. Together we can do this, and may the planet be better, since he has done nothing to us. People do not care about climate change because they think it is silly but no, it is not, because if you think about it, someone in their family will experience it, and it will not be pleasant.

  3. We have to be very careful with the situations that we are going through in 2020. First the Covid-19, and now the climate changes. Climate changes can be very dangerous because they can affect many areas of the world. This year, for me it is very worrying and rare, but if we continue to take care of the environment and continue to comply with the rules, surely everything will happen. Dunia Arnedo Martin 2nd A

  4. The climate change is very dangerous . There is a hole in the ozone layer . A lot of people know about this hole and they don`t like it . A lot of animal they have to leave their habitats . The human activity is very dangerous for the planet . I think we can make it better . Javier Rivas Lopez 2ºESO A .

  6. There are many people who do not recycle I think they do not realize the damage they are causing to the world, the poles are melting due to climate change, and there are many animals about to become extinct just for not raciclar. There is a species of sea turtle that is in pre extinction due to plastics, and I have seen on the news the sea full of plastics and bottles etc. People do not know the damage it is causing.

  8. Siberia is a vast geographical region that is located in the East Asian part of the Russian Federation, which is why it is also called Asian Russia, Eastern Russia. Siberia represents approximately 76% of the territory of the Russian Federation with a very low population density being home to only 28. Its climate is a little different from ours since its summers is very short and its winters very long and with very little sun. In some parts of Siberia like in the tundra biome it can easily reach -50 degrees.

  9. Siberia is a huge geographic region in the asiatic part of Russia in the north of the Russia. Siberia is one places of the most cold in the world. The climate change ,whose responsibility is in the contamination that we produces, is put in dangerous this place because the permafrost that was it freeze now it is thawing and this means that it is producing a environment catastrophe with very hard consecuences.
