  2. Nowadays, we are not able to know how diseases smell like, but dogs can do it. They can tell us that, but we know it. Many dogs have been trained to sniff out different ills, like cancers or malaria. When we see a dog, it is continually sniffing whatever it has around it.

They have an incredible smell because of their 350 million sensory receptors dedicated to olfaction. They can detect many diseases because their noses have been trained to do it. This happens because when we are ill, our odour tends to change. Also, because of this amazing sense of smell they are used by police to search for a missing person. Besides all this, it is the only company that many people have, so, we can say that they help a lot in our society.

At this moment, scientists of many different universities are finding out that as dogs can detect many diseases, they are also able to sniff out coronavirus. They are very good at learning so they learn how this virus smells and they will be capable of detecting it. There are many scientists who think that this is something fantastic, because this animal can detect a lot of infected people very quickly.

To sum up, I think that it can be a fantastic advance in this pandemic. Obviously, if it does not imply mistreatment of animals. Many cases can be detected with this project.

Sometimes we find dogs very distressing because they rush towards us and start sniffing at us. This is due to the 350 million sensory receptors for smell. For this reason, many dogs are being trained and trained to develop their sense of smell and detect diseases such as the one currently experienced with Covid-19. Experts think that this of dogs can become a fabulous discovery because many infections can be detected.

Anyway, from my point of view I think this article is very interesting because it is an advance for science and above all a great advance in this pandemic that is getting out of hand. This project could save many lives and reduce a large number of infections.

  5. If they are dogs capable of smelling and preventing many viruses due to their sense of smell. How do you think they discovered the virus? Or still do not know?

We all know the ability of dogs to smell, since their smell has many receptive sensors, which allow them to smell very well and from a long distance. It should also be noted that some dogs, due to their good sense of smell and fitness, are taken as a new member of the body by the police and the civil guard, who are assisted in customs so that drugs do not enter or even in house searches, cars and street

On the other hand, they would also be useful to be able to prevent the virus, as they already did with other diseases, so they should be scienfied to do research with the dogs, but if they later have any disability or injury that allows them to live the life they had.

I think that dogs are very intelligent animals and could help the vaccine for the virus and even for other diseases.

  9. It is very common to have dogs or any kind of company animal. They are excellent companies to defeat loneliness and what´s more it is believed that they are able to sniff out Coronavirus. Really amazing, right? But, how can they do it?

Recently, dogs have been trained to identifying people infected with Covid-19. Many experts have done experiments with dogs to check if they are able to detect the disease, and they have discovered that using the saliva of the people, this animals are capable to guess if someone is infected by coronavirus in a record time. Scientists say that apart from they have a very good sense of smell, they can detect a specific smell that changes in the body of a sick patient.

It is true that dogs have been used in medicine for a long time to detect different diseases, as well as, malaria or cancer. But scientists point out that dogs could be a essential piece for our future. Not only in medicine, but also in other areas like airports or events to help prevent further outbreaks of the virus.

To sum up, dogs are incredible animals capable of detect people infected with Covid-19 and even many other diseases. From my point of view, this new discovery could be a progress for science and could help to reduce the number of infections.

  11. Hello Alberto!
I think it’s amazing that dogs could detect COVID-19 because the goverment will save a lot of money that could invest in health personnel and medical supplies.
Also, the dogs would detect the COVID-19 much faster than the PCR tests because you have to wait for the results and it would be more comfortable than the tests.
It’s very important to detect COVID-19 in the airports before the visitors enter to the country, that could help to control and eradicate COVID-19 in the world.

  12. I have think since I was little that dogs were too intelligent, but I never imagine that they could be able to track people infected by coronavirus. Is a very helpful things for the doctors, but i wouldn't trust too much, dogs can make a mistake too, or even we can think that dogs are saying one thing and they try to say otherwise. Is very good that dogs be able to do this things, but I wouldn't leave such an important thing in hands of the dogs, I think that they help us in much things and the coronavirus we can leave it to expert and people specialized in that.
However we need to be grateful about dogs, they make humans much more happy, and some one even gives more years of life, as the days go by I realize more and more that dogs are essential in our lives. I really don't know what i'll do with out my dog.

  16. I think that animals are so intelligent, because they can do things that a human can´t. Dogs have the sense of smell so developed, 50 times higher than the human.
On a lot of occasions I saw some police dogs that are smelling and tracking in public places. It is so interesting to see these situations, because it surprises me with their ability to find things.
I know that dogs can smell a lot of things, but I hadn’t heard that dogs could also smell a virus or diseases.
I think that if the dogs are able to smell the Covid, it is very useful to stop the contagion by Covid-19, because if in the places where there are many people there are dogs that can smell the contagion, it will stop the virus a little.

But I think it is safer for specialists to take care of this and not use dogs to track COVID-19 infections.

I was also very surprised the dog’s smell. I was aware that they had a good nose but I didn't know how much. In this way, dogs could be very useful to us, to combat covid.
But the bad thing is that in my opinion, we should not train animals for our own benefit, because like us they are living beings and that would not be fair to them.

  21. When I read the news that dogs can smell people who have COVID-19, I thought it was fake news. But after seeing several news related to the same topic.
The first country to start using dogs was Finland and they were used at an airport to identify passengers with COVID-19. According to some scientists, they can identify the virus days before symptoms are noticed, and with 100% effectiveness.
Here in Spain dogs are trained to this function. But their training can take five months, all this they can do thanks to their sense of smell that is millions of times superior to that of people.
I think it will be a avance, but I think we don´t have that much time because we are close to another house lockdown.

  25. Traditionally , dogs has been trained to detect several diseases though their sense of smell like cancer or malaria but, did you know that currently they are able to detect coronavirus?.

This amazing ability is due to the big quantity of olfactory receptors that they have and to the percentage of their brain dedicated to analyse smells, which is fourty times bigger than in the human brain. To do that, they sniff the saliva of people both healthy and infected and then, they can detect a specific smell in the samples which are infected. This training is based in a reward system. When they do something good , they get a candy and dogs believe that they are just playing.

This could be very useful because dogs could be used at points of entry in the country , such as airports to detect people infected by coronavirus or even asymtomatic people. In this way , authorities could have a new method of effective control and also faster than taking the temperature of every person in the airport.

I think that dogs are very smart animals and they can be able to do that so , I think it is a good idea to help to prevent coronavirus .

The dogs are trained for expert, and the studies say that si really that they can detect diseases, it's impresionat that they can do this, becuase the experts can identify faster if one person have a bad diseases and if now the expert and the studies say that we can put in the list of diseases that are capable of identifying the Covid-19, It's a great news.

I think that now that the experts there are the dogs to help them to discovered new cases of Covid-19, I think that is a big progress in the battle with this disease and that they help our to pass this disease and win they, I think that if this works, the normality is getting closer, although we must to continue respcting the security measures that the government put.

There are already several studies, which demonstrate the ability of these animals to detect diseases. Not only common diseases, they can also detect diseases such as cancer. These dogs are trained to detect various types of diseases and are very helpful to many people.

A recent study seems to show that there are some dogs that are capable of detecting patients infected with covid-19. This is great news, because if the reliability of this method is demonstrated, it could be a great advance for this pandemic, and be of great help in this terrible situation.

  44. Having a dog is a great responsibility that many people have, but which they're not conscious of. It is a living creature's life what you're taking care of and it is not a toy or even an object; that's why we must think carefully about the decision of buying or adopting it.

First of all, it is much better adopting a puppy because it is free and you help an animal’s life, which is normally going to be killed. Dogs can also help depressive people because it can give them company and distraction for all day. One particular detail about this type of animal is that it can also help disabled people like blind people by showing them the way through the street without having the same difficulty as they had before. Other pets like cats are especially kind with their owners when they receive the care and attention needed.

Not everything can be advantages; there are also negative aspects, which we have to take into account. Firstly, not all pets have a good behavior, they can break things and reveal against you if you don’t treat them in the correct way. Secondly, if you have a dog for a long time, you can take affection with it; this means that most of the people feel especially sad when they die, which is a very sad situation. Buying pet food and accessories can also be expensive, which is an important factor to take bear in mind.

In fact, having a dog is a good option to make your life happier, but giving them the attention needed and having in mind the disadvantages and the money cost of keeping them, but despite all the disadvantages, having a dog can be great if you know how to treat it and look after it properly.
