C. approximately 46 years of age. The mummy was discovered in September 1991 in the Ötztal Alps, near Hauslabjoch, on the border of Austria and Italy, at an altitude of 3,200 meters above sea level. Its nickname comes from Ötztal, a stretch of the Italian Alps where it was discovered. It is the oldest natural human mummy in Europe and has offered an unprecedented insight into Europeans in the Chalcolithic (Copper Age). His body and belongings are on display in the South Tyrol Museum of Archeology in the city of Bolzano, in South Tyrol (Italy).
The cause of the mummification of the corpse was the extreme and perpetual cold of the region where the individual died.
Ötzi was found by two mountain climbers from Nuremberg (Germany), Helmut and Erika Simon, on September 19, 1991. At first it was thought that it was a modern corpse, like several others that were recently found in the region. It was recovered by the Austrian authorities and taken to Innsbruck, where its true dating could be made. The diplomatic dispute between Austria and Italy over the ownership of the mummy was a cause of the indefiniteness of the border, covered with ice at the time of the signing of the treaty of St. Germain-en-Laye in 1919. New measurements in 1991 they decreed that the find had occurred about 93 meters inside the Italian territory, although the University of Innsbruck, in Austria, kept the mummy until the end of scientific research. Seven years later it was decided that the mummy would remain in Italy.

Nuria Diaz Ruiz 2 BACHNuria Díaz Ruizhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05763734185236850987noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2689215007393401580.post-84295699791406393112017-09-09T14:57:12.388+02:002017-09-09T14:57:12.388+02:00Ötzi the Iceman, or Oetzi, is a well-preserved nat...Ötzi the Iceman, or Oetzi, is a well-preserved natural mummy of a man who lived about 5,300 years ago. At first it was thought that it was a recent corpse but after several studies they obtained that the body had thousands of years. It is also known that Ötzi did not have a quiet life, due to the state of his body by all the wounds.

In addition, scientists found eggs from parasites that cause the disease Lyme in his stomach.
