He was an English theoretical physicst, cosmologist and author. At the time of his death he was director of research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology at the University of Cambridge and also was the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the same university between 1979 and 2009. Indeed, he died on Pi Day. It is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant "π" . Pi Day is observed on March 14 since 3, 1 and 4 are the first three significant digits of π.

He was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 1963 at the age of 21. Doctors expected him to live for only two more years. But Hawkings had a form of the disease that progressed more slowly than usual. He survived for more than a half a century. Despite this, he once estimated he studied 1,000 hours during his three undergraduate years at Oxford. He said taht those who live in the shadow of death are often those who live most. He declared that his goal was simple. It was a complete understanding of the universe, whuy it was as it was and why it existed at all. It was A Brief History of Time that rocketed Hawking to stardom in 1988. It sold 10m copies and was translated into 40 different languages.

When Hawking was a graduate student at Cambridge, his relationship with Jane Wilde, his college sweetheart, in spite of his motor-neurone disease, continued to develop. The young couple engaged and the two married on 1965. The first son, called Robert, was born on 1967, Lucy in 1970 and a third child, Timothy, who was born on 1979. The couple finally divorced. Afther this, Hawking married one of his nurses but they divorced in 2006. Last summer I saw The Theory of Everything. It is a film which was released in 2014 and it is based in Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen by Jane Hawking. Actually, I really love it. Besides, the film received positive reviews, with praise for the musical score, cinematography and the perfomance of Felicity Jones and specially Eddie Redmayne.

Summing up, I think that Stephen Hawking was an unique brain and also an example of overcoming since in spite of all the difficulties he had in his life he never gave up and he has been considered one of the most intelligen person in the world. He was even known at school as Einstein. I also considered that he has made great contributions to the world of Science, so that he will always be remembered.

Andrea Gutiérrez López 2BACH A
AndreaGutierrezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13406198241089980535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2689215007393401580.post-43635598588218076242018-05-20T20:48:53.569+02:002018-05-20T20:48:53.569+02:00Stephen Hawking has been a great British scientist...Stephen Hawking has been a great British scientist.
Although his illness has not helped him much because it is a very cruel disease,
I believe that Stephen's contribution to humanity has been great.
He is a clear example that when you want you can.
Rest in peace a Great Scientist.

Susana P. Of course, I'm talking about Stephen Hawkings, the British physics who explained the universe from a wheelchair and that brought over stars to millions of people all over the world.

To begin with, Hawkings was an ordinary student at St Alban's, Londres. Then, he studied at Oxford University and finally, at Cambridge University, where he finished his postgraduate studies in the field of cosmology. At the age of 21, he was diagnosed with Ela, and doctors only gave him 2 more years. Apart from that, he got married to Jane and some years later, with his nurse.

What about his death? Stephen died at the same age as Einstein, 76 years old. What's more, he died the same day Einstein did, 14th March, an approximation of the pi number. Not only that but also he was born the 300 anniversary day of Galileo's death.

Taking all into account, this man who was in the public eye owing to his studies, achieved the understanding of the universe. He was a challenging and overcoming person, he wasn't afraid of death, he was in no hurry to die. Susana P Boschhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06865053861205399002noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2689215007393401580.post-15367502898672673422018-05-12T18:50:46.660+02:002018-05-12T18:50:46.660+02:00Stephen William Hawking was a theoretical physicis...Stephen William Hawking was a theoretical physicist, astrophysicist, cosmologist and British scientist. He was born the 8th January, 1942 and he died the 14th Mars, 2018, just a few days ago. His most important works were related to the universe, this is the main reason why he is so well known. He investigated much about the black holes of space and the Big Bang, doing big discoveries and becoming one of the most relevant persons ever.

When he was 21 years old, he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. This rare disease made Stephen's state worse over the years. Surprisingly, the doctors predicted that he would not live more than two or three years, however, he lived many more years, specifically 55 years. Over the years, his disability increased, he couldn't move his muscles and he couldn't speak because he couldn't open his mouth.

With the technological advance, Stephen Hawking could speak with a voice synthesizer that he controlled with small gestures of the face and eyes. Moreover, he was able to move with a wheelchair that he controlled with small gestures of the head. He used this chair for conferences with journalists or for important events.

From my point of view, Stephen William Hawking is a example of overcoming, in spite of his disease he has continued fighting against it and he has continued investigating new mysteries of the universe and space. This is a clear example that there is nor excuse or limit to reach your dream, if you struggle to achieve something, you will achieve it.

Joaquín España 2ºBACHAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08415852049915832315noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2689215007393401580.post-3692612015172247062018-05-03T22:27:27.390+02:002018-05-03T22:27:27.390+02:00Stephen Hawking was born the 8th January,1942 in C...Stephen Hawking was born the 8th January,1942 in Cambridge. He wanted to study maths at university, but he chose physics and chemistry instead, because Oxford didn't have a math degree at the time. After his graduation, he went to Cambridge to study for his PhD.

Unfortunately, while he was still a student, he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," a degenerative disease of the nerve cells that control muscle movement. Hawking eventually became unable to move except for his fingers, and in the early 1980s he also lost the ability to speak, for this reason he had to communicate with the aid of a talking computer.

Nonetheless, he was able to form a family (he married twice, and has three children from his first marriage) and succeeded professionally. His theories of black holes and his search for a grand unification theory, which would link the theories of relativity with those of quantum mechanics, have propelled him into the scientific ranks of Sir Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein. But, it was in 1988 whe he attracted public interest with his book “A Brief History of Time”.

To conclude, I would like to say that Hawking is an example of overcoming, since despite all the difficulties in his life, he never gave up. Finally, I would like to add that he has also appeared on numerous TV shows, including The Simpsons, Futurama and The Big Bang Theory, and he had his own film called “The Theory of Everything”.

Irene Ramón 2ºBACH

irenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12015029591329238655noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2689215007393401580.post-83907513526386785662018-05-01T16:43:58.825+02:002018-05-01T16:43:58.825+02:00’The Theory of Everything’, a British film produce...’The Theory of Everything’, a British film produced in 2014 by James Marsh and which won a Golden Globe Award, is one of my favourite films. It is based on an autobiography called ‘’Travelling to Infinity’’ by Jane Hawking. It narrates her life with her first husband the famous theoretical physicist, Stephen Hawking.

They married when they were undergraduates at Oxford University and Stephen Hawking had recently been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. He was given only two years to live. Stephen, however, went on to become a professor at Cambridge University and a world famous scientist, specialising in black holes, quantum mechanics and cosmology. He lived until he was 76 years old.

He had a unique mind but his real brilliance, in my opinion, was his capacity to communicate difficult concepts in a simple language for ordinary people. This led to his book ‘’A Brief History of Time’’ becoming a best seller. It was even more of an achievement, given that he had huge difficulties in communicating physically.

Jane was married to him for thirty years. Together they had to face great challenges because of Stephen’s illness. Jane’s part in his triumphs was often obscured by Stephen’s fame. The film, ‘’The Theory of Everything’’ shows how important Jane was to Stephen’s life and his recognition. One of his most famous works is "History of Time: from BigBang to Black Holes", which won him a prize and was very successful.
All the books he publishes talk about science or about how he researches old theories of other scientists, most of these theories talk about time and how the universe and our world are built. Other important works of his and very recognized have been: "The universe in a nutshell" and "Brief history of time".

Ariadna Prados López 2º BachAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2689215007393401580.post-64526986880014216152018-04-08T17:53:08.561+02:002018-04-08T17:53:08.561+02:00Stephen William Hawking He was born on January 8, ...Stephen William Hawking He was born on January 8, 1942, in Oxford and died on March 14, 2018, during his life was a theoretical physicist, astrophysicist, cosmologist and British scientific disseminator. At the beginning of his life, he wanted to study Mathematics at the University, but his father wanted him to study at University College, as at that time there was no math teacher who enrolled in natural sciences.

Hawking has worked on the basic laws that govern the universe showed that Einstein's general theory of relativity implies that space and time must have a beginning in the big bang and an end in black holes. One consequence of such unification that he discovered was that black holes were not entirely black, but could emit radiation and eventually evaporate and disappear. This would imply that the way the universe began is completely determined by the laws of science.

When Stephen Hawking was just 21 years old, he was diagnosed with a disease whose prognosis is very severe: amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. People who suffer from this condition usually do not live more than two years, and if they do, only reach five. To everyone's surprise, it exceeded the expected time and although then was confined to a wheelchair, which in 1985 he had to add a smart computer system to communicate

In my opinion, Stephen Hawking was a person dedicated to science and new discoveries, although at an early age he was basically diagnosed with dying, he endured it more than anyone would have ever bet.
Miguel Ángel González Ortega Administración y finanzashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04920373460265442048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2689215007393401580.post-3497035446527881052018-04-04T20:05:01.116+02:002018-04-04T20:05:01.116+02:00Stephen Hawkings was en English theorical physicis...Stephen Hawkings was en English theorical physicist, cosmologist, author and Director of Reserch at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology within the University of Cambridge. When he was 21 doctors told him that he will die in proximity of 2 or 3 years. His theory of black holes is very important that is called Hawking radiation. He also was the first to set out a theory of cosmology explained by an union of the general theory of relativity and quantum mechanics.
Some amazing facts about him is that him was born in the 300 anniversary of the death of Gallileo Gallilei and he died in the international day of Pi, which is 3.14.
I think that he is one of the most important scientists of nowadays and that thanks to him will have advanced a lot and will continue to advance in the future.
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02147355446586784286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2689215007393401580.post-48440598342287675372018-04-04T19:13:31.679+02:002018-04-04T19:13:31.679+02:00Stephen William Hawking was born on January 8, one...Stephen William Hawking was born on January 8, one thousand nine hundred and forty-two and died at the age of 73 on March 14, two thousand and eighteen, he was the most famous and popular theoretical physicist of our time.
Hawking entered the University of Cambridge in 1966 to study theoretical physics and complete the publication in 1965 of a PhD on the relativistic and quantum nature of the famous black holes.
The great success and popularity of Hawking did not come until the late eighties, when he published a book that quickly became a bestseller, entitled Brief History of Time.
This fame, which has reached a global level and which makes Hawking appear in newspapers, magazines and even on television, is not only due to the solidity of his theoretical works, but also to the paradoxical condition that his person presents: at twenty-three years was declared a paralyzing disease that has progressively reduced Hawking to a disability in a wheelchair, forcing himself to communicate with the outside by means of a computer specially designed for him; Although the doctors predicted a soon fatal outcome, Stephenle's enthusiasm and fighting skills have allowed her to continue working and developing studies beyond medical reasons and expectations.saara rghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15606846247739398017noreply@blogger.com
