The Maginot Line was a vast fortification that spread along the French and German border, but became a military liability when the Germans attacked France in the spring of 1940. This line is named Maginot Line because the Minister of War was Maginot, and he gave the financing for the construction of this line. The Maginot Line was started constructing in 1922 and it was finished in 1936. In 1939 the line was elongated from Switzerland up to Luxembourg. The line didn’t avoid the defeat of France at the beginning of the Second World War in 1940, because the Germans surrounded the Maginot Line for its western extremity. In this war, there were more than 50 million people dead, and when it ended, peace treaties were signed for the war wouldn't start again.
It is interesting because it is the largest military defense line built, it cost over 5,000 million francs (over 5,000 million euros), and it was built in 10 years.
It had 108 forts and 400 km of galleries. Besides, It had air conditioning, comfortable eating areas and underground railways, but the Maginot Line didn't prevent the defeat of France, so this line is considered the worst and most expensive line of history.
By: Noelia Fernández Béjar 2º Bach ANoehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00692238336668761545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2689215007393401580.post-13784393688945295432012-04-23T18:35:44.121+02:002012-04-23T18:35:44.121+02:00I haven't listned or read anything about the M...I haven't listned or read anything about the Maginot Line. Is true that the classroom 1º bachillerato A is a little disordered, but I don't think it looks so much like the maginot line. I think that maginot line was a big construction of strength but didn't serve of much.

Paula Martin Guirado 1ºA BACHpaulahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11703177082561715069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2689215007393401580.post-35097958535534061112012-04-02T16:04:07.871+02:002012-04-02T16:04:07.871+02:00I had never heard about the Maginot Line before. In my opinion, it is a fantastic strategy to defend against the enemy, Frenchmen were very intelligent building it. They spent a lot of money and effort building it. Also they spent time because it took fourteen years to build this fort. It was an impressive work and I admire very much the persons who build it.

Mireya González Paredes 2ºA BACHMIREYAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13210023455311871362noreply@blogger.com
