BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Paris: World Climate Summit 2015

RED ALERT!!!!!

Beijing smog (listening exercise)   >>> Do you still think that pollution isn't a most prominent issue nowadays in our planet? (Air pollution in China)

What does 'smog' mean?

The United Nations is organizing a conference on climate change to come to certain minimum agreements about what we can do about it.

PARIS 2015

What do you think we should do as nations and as individuals?

  1. The problem of the climate changes it's caused by the gases released from industry and agriculture that are increasing the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2).
The future problems will be higher temperatures and more extreme weather that will cause problems as production conditions with the food for the heat waves and droughts.

I think we sould do as nations send a strong signal that the world is moving away from a fossil fuel economy, and won't turn back. As individuals, we can’t do much, but if many people show they care about climate change, then they have the power to make the leaders act.

  2. For two weeks, from 30th November to 11th December, representatives of 195 countries will meet in París for the COP21, and what is the COP21? The COP21 is the 21st Conference of the Parties, the annual meeting of all countries which want to take action for the climate. And the most important matter, what are the main goal? Their main goal is that they want to reduce their emissions of CO2 so that Earth doesn’t get more than 2ºC warmer.
One of the problems that they are having, it’s that the attacks of Paris were so recent that they can’t do conferences in public and they have to be at every moment with a lot of security. As a result of the attacks all the presidents are giving their condolences to the victims. Other big problem in relation with this conference, it’s that emerging countries don’t want to take part in this meeting, because most of them still use non-renewable energy too much, and that can be determinant in the end, because they are the most pollutant countries.
In addition, this conference is more important than others, because now rich countries like the USA or China that before didn’t want to respect the limits of pollution, have now realize that renewable energies are more economic in a long-term, so they are now in favour to reduce their pollution in their countries. Moreover, they want to promote this to poor countries, setting their renewable factories there (and for nor paying taxes).
In my view, it’s good that we have these types of conferences, but we need to take practical measures, because if we don’t do something fast, we will finish with our planet. In Spain, we have had two alerts because of pollution and in two cities (Madrid and Oviedo) people couldn’t use their cars for a couple of days. I don’t know you, but I want to breath fresh air.

  6. Smog is a type of air pollutant. Modern smog, as found for example in Los Angeles, is a type of air pollution derived from vehicular emission from internal combustion engines and industrial fumes that react in the atmosphere with sunlight to form secondary pollutants that also combine with the primary emissions to form photochemical smog.

Smog is a serious problem in many cities and continues to harm human health.
It can cause eye and nose irritation and it dries out the protective membranes of the nose and throat and interferes with the body's ability to fight infection, increasing susceptibility to illness.

  7. I think pollution is the most prominent issue in our planet. The pollution in the presence of pollutants in quantities superior to the limits tolerated by the human, they cause an ecological imbalance and damage the health and the well being of the persons.

One of the big problems of the pollution is to increase the temperature of the earth, it is called the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect can defrost the poles and it raises the level of the sea and because of that, some of the cities in the coast can be floated.

Smog is a mixture of smoke, fog, and chemical fumes.

As individuals we should use the public transport or the means of transport that don't polluce, for example bicycle or bus.
As nations I think the town hall should monitor the waste water or the rubbish and it should create green areas.

  8. In my opinion pollution is a very importan problem for our planet. The pollution cause damage at whe well being of the persons and of all the living beings.

The pollution increase the temerature of the earth, it is called greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is the process by which radiation from a planet's atmosphere warms the planet's surface to a temperature above what it would be in the absence of its atmosphere. If a planet's atmosphere contains radiatively active gases, the atmosphere radiates energy in all directions. Part of this radiation is directed towards the surface, warming it.

For stop this pollution we can:
    - Don't use plastic bags.
    - Use low-energy bulbs.
    - Not abusing heating.
    - Avoid standby appliances
    - Use public transport.
    - Use the bike or walk.

    We need stop pollute!

  10. Pollution is a serious problem of our society. We are polluting our oceans, air, earth, plants, ... and this has a lot of bad efects for our health, and for animals and plants.
I have read that there is a lot of pollution in some countries, especially in China. People can breathe normally and they have got a lot of respiratory problems. This is because there are a lot of factories, polluting the air every day without control. China is becoming a very rich country, but people are dying because of the pollution.
In Spain, we have a lot of polluted cities, for example, Madrid and Barcelona. Also, we have now this problem, and some city councils are trying to control the traffic in the cities.
If we don´t do anything quickly, we or our children will die very soon.

If we don´t do anything now the future problems will be really serious problems, yesterday I road in the news that in this century will be tsunamis, bigs earthquackes and more problems that I´m sure that many people will die if we don´t do anything now for stop the pollution and the climate change.

A few months ago we road another notice in this blog which talked about the air pollution in China where people couldn´t breath well
