BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Human speeches

Last week I came across with these HUMAN stories and I think they are worthwhile listening to them.

Francine's interview - FRANCE - #HUMAN

I was so captivated by these human speeches that I decided to use them in my blog with the intention of making my students conscious of what is really important in life and how people can be really influenced by real human stories apart from Tiktokers or Youtubers or whatever we have in social media.

Listening to these ordinary people you will discover how differently many people surrounding us behave. People who are supposedly our leaders and who have the power in their hands, with thousands of supporters or followers. It is up to us to decide who deserves our attention and interest.

As you know, I'm very keen on music, but honestly I don't like the Eurovision contest at all. Actually, I haven't seen it for years and, apart from the music style,  I believe it is a fake musical contest. Again this year the event is said to have been a complete masquerade. Here are some articles for you to read about the issue:

Still time..., but with the right attitude

As I have already told you, and due to certain circumstances, our final (and definitive) term already started last week. Anyhow, there is still time to achieve our goals but if we work with the right attitude (the can-do attitude).

The English We Speak: Can-do attitude (BBC Learning English)

You may say this is just a dream or a fairy tale, but I can give you the example of one of my students in 1º ESO, who had done nothing during the school year so far. We decided to move it to another group and here's a new student full of energy and willing to learn and to achieve goals. In German they say: "Können ist Wollen" (you can if you wish it).

Who in the hell do you think you are?

Here's a rough expression you should not really use unless you get so furious that you are about to explode. Anyway, this is a colloquial expression to be used in the context of a bar or among friends.

Sometimes you've got to take the rough way to make your students do what you think it is the best for them and the way you say it not because you are smarter than anyone, but because you have gone through these situations a thousand times.

Don't worry! A time to chill out (let loose) will come soon but after achieving our goals. Here's a nice expression to learn regarding this. Tell me people, animals or other things you can let loose.
