BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

June is the deadline for students

Time is running out!! Time for deadlines!! Our students will have handed in everything by 2nd June!!

Office English: Deadlines and logistics  (BBC Learning English)

It is time for good students for the harvest of the hard work all along the year, but it is also the time for the bad students to rush and try to do all they haven't done in the past. Will they ever learn the lesson?

PSG win Champions League for first time with record 5-0 final hammering of Inter (The Guardian)

New-look PSG make history on emotional night for Luis Enrique (BBC News)

Here's my musical hint for today:  I can't go for that by Daryl Hall & John Oates. And now here's a version with the lyrics for you to sing along.

Here are some activities for my students:

1º ESO       Simple Past REGULAR VERBS

3º ESO

Ask BBC Learning English: What's the passive voice?  (BBC Learning English)

Rewrite these sentences using modal verbs.

1.   It’s possible that Jane will visit Switzerland next year.

2.   I’m thinking about taking Spanish lessons.

3.   I’m sure they’ll be home by now.

4.   James definitely isn’t eighteen yet!

5.   It’s possible the weather will be sunny tomorrow.

6.   I'm sure she's at home.

7.   I know that isn't Janet-She's in America.

8.   I'm sure she thinks I'm stupid.

9.   I bet I look silly in this coat.

10.  They're always buying new cars. I'm certain they have a lot of money.

Solution to the exercises in the previous post:

Describe these two objects. Which 3 questions do you have to answer to write a proper description?

What do they look like? What are they made of? What are they used for?

A torch is a long tube with batteries inside and a light at the front which is made of plastic and perhaps glass. This gadhet is used to see in the darkness.

Goggles are something like glasses. They are made of rubber and plastic and stick to your face not to let any air or water come in. They are used to see under water or just to protect your eyes when you are skiing or riding a motorbike.

Rewrite the following requests, offers, instructions and suggestions:

1. "Write 25 comments on my blog, please"  "Will you...? / Would you....?"

2. "Will you bring me a glass of milk? Would you,,,?"

3. "Let's have a barbecue at the beach.  /  Shall we....?"

4. "I'll buy you ....."

5. "Don't park here in front of the gate, please!"

6. "Let's not take this bus again!"

7. "Will you answer the phone for me, please?"

Historical moments

During our lives there are important historical moments that we live and that we later tell all our kin.

All along these 13 years we have been working on this blog and we have recorded amazing stories and facts, such as: the pandemics (Coronavirus & Covid-19), an unbelievable Super Skydive!!!! , Nadal's victories Victory belongs to the most tenacious ...

However, this is not just a matter of great facts, but also it can refer to our personal humble careers. For instance, this week our IES Mediterraneo students can also make history as it happened some years ago:  Moments of glory    >>>  UNBEATABLE!!!!

History is being written right now!!!!

Last weekend we also lived a historical moment when Real Madrid won its 15th Champions League:

Nevertheless, this is a non-stop effort towards new goals in this road to success and the same as our students, who must keep on working after the Selectivity exams, Real Madrid is already thinking about the future....

Here are some activities for you to do:

No more pollution in our cities, please!!!

Once upon a time, Granada was a beautiful walkable city where you could even play football on the streets because there was not so much traffic. Now it is still a beautiful city, but every time I drive from the coast I can see all the pollution above it from the summit of El Suspiro del Moro (The Moor's Whisper).

No longer unique, but just amazing two years later.

Sometimes dreams come true (Simeone, Zidane, Gabi, Ramos, thousands of supporters had a dream one day, but only a few of them could see their dream come true. So it is life! I do hope that your dreams will come true, as mine turned into reality: having the best NON-BILINGUAL students ever). You remember two years ago  >>>
