BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Time to call the roll

Back to classes and it is time to call the roll (= control the attendance), to get up early, to do your homework everyday, to get up early in the morning..., that is to say, to go back to our 'beloved' routines!!

We also have a rest carrying out our daily routines since we do not have to think about what new activity to organise or which new face we are going to meet. As well, routines make us move forward in search of our personal goals.

Here are some activities for you to do:

182. READING & COMPREHENSION. Read about Rory's friend, Brad. Then answer the questions.

I’ve got a friend called Brad. He’s seventeen and he lives in Boston. Actually he’s from Canada, but he’s lived in the USA for ten years. Last month he came to stay with me and my family in Wales.

We had a really great time. We went to the mountain in the north of Wales. We stayed near a lake and went canoeing and swimming every day. He also liked going to the cinema – especially to see science-fiction films. While he was staying with me, we saw four science-fiction films! And we had a fancy dress party the night before he went home. People wore anything from Star Wars!

I haven’t been to the USA yet. But next year, I’m going to stay with Brad in Boston. If I save enough money, I’ll stay for two months! We’ll probably travel to some different places with his family. I think we’ll go to New York and if there’s enough time, we’ll go to the beach in Florida!

1. How long has Brad lived in the USA? __________________________________________

2. Did they stay near the sea on holiday? _________________________________________

3. What kind of party did they have? ___________________________________________

4. Has Rory already been to the USA? ___________________________________________

5. How long will Rory stay in the USA? ___________________________________________

These were the good old days of our school because we had this award three years in a row with two other students: Bernard Grell ( CONGRATS, HERR GRELL!!!! ) and Clara Prados ( Congratulations to Clara Prados ).

So it is time for our students to warm up to do their best and perhaps become 'workaholics' . What does this word mean? Check here.
