BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Food and food waste, a big world problem

Food is a big problem for some people. Hunger, starvation... are common problems in many places in the world such as Africa, India... However, we've got enough people for everybody. Actually, in some places such as USA they have so much food that they waste it.

One possible solution >>>>

Here's an article to read about the issue:

Tesco pledges to end edible food waste by March 2018 (The Guardian)

What do you do not to waste so much food at home? Read the following article and watch the video and tell me interesting words connected with the semantic field of 'food'. For instance, 'edible'. What does this word mean? Which verb does this adjective come from?

In your comment you can use QUANTIFIERS (Here's a video for you to watch and some exercises for you to do). For example: "At home we eat very little bread, so we do not buy much".

Here's some basic vocabulary for the World Cup 2018.

A couple of English exercises to do about the PASSIVE VOICE  >>>   1   2

Now let's cook the PERFECT OMELETTE!!!  Watch this video and tell me how to make it using the PASSIVE VOICE. Here's a possible start:

Example: First of all, a frying pan is needed. Then three eggs are taken from the fridge.

Useful verbs you may need: stir, pour, fry, add, set, serve...

And obviously a good nose is required to cook  >>>  The English We Speak (BBC Learning English)  >>>  To have a good nose (for something)

  1. Many people hasn´t got enough money for life, it is caused for many things, for example, the bad situation that these persons are living, the places where they life, especially in places underdeveloped where it has extreme poverty or the economic crisis,… Many families life this hard situation and they need some money to feed of their kids and for survive day to day. Kids haven´t got a good childhood in this hard situation because some kids can´t go to school and they must job.

A lot of food in good condition is pulled and wasted because the appearance of food in supermarkets are so important for sell this products to people. This food is good for our health and the imperfect appearance doesn´t affect and it is editable. This food can be used for people who hasn´t got enough money to eat each day.

Tesco is to become the only UK retailer to not longer waste food fit for human consumption. The company’s chief executive, Dave Lewis, has urged other supermarket chains to follow Tesco’s lead and adopt the changes that it will implement by March 2018 because they think that it´s a good way to stop the hungry and a good way to take advantage of this food.

It is necessary to take advantages of all of things that we have because many people hasn´t got it and we must help us for have a better life. This people value more the small things that most people.

  3. Many people are dying of hunger, because they do not have enough money to buy food and eat. This cause is due to not having work in those places, and there is a lot of crisis. Some children have to work to get food instead of going to school. and learn. These people should feed their children. That is why we should not waste food and not make a large amount for one person, we should take advantage of the food. For example in supermarkets when they spend a few days and the fruit has not been sold and is in bad shape they throw it away, that food could be used to feed those people.

  7. Nowadays food is very important to survive. Sometimes we throw away the rests of food, but we
don´t think that are many people in different countries that haven´t got enough money to buy food. Many times when people are in crisis or difficult situations they don´t have access to it. So, some supermarkets like Tesco do not waste food that are fit for human consumption. Moreover, in Australia The Inconvenience Store, Melbourne rescue products from bakeries and big supermarkets like Aldi to donate them to customers.
Front my point of view we are really fortunate to be able to have almost all we want, for this reason we have to take care of all we have, and help those people.

  11. Nowadays, lots of people throw away a lot of food which could be given to consumption to other people who are starving because of different reasons. We don´t realize that in other countries there are people that can´t buy so much food as us. That´s because they are living in a poor continent or in areas that are affected by wars or drought.
In my opinion, we don´t value enough everything we have. For this, there are some companies or supermarkets like Tesco in UK which collect food and drink and give it to people who really need it, because thousands and thousands of kilograms of food are wasted around the world.

All in all, I think we should think more about the poor people who are starving around the world and try to do something to help them like donating money or food to ONG´s.

  13. We live in a privileged country because there are poorer countries than ours, because in other countries people die unfortunately due to lack of food every day.

Nowadays, we can help them. For example, every day we waste food in our homes and other people need it to survive.

In addition, in many supermarkets the products that aren't in perfect conditions are discarded, so that all the food has a good appearance for the people. This food is good for our health and appearance does not affect us. We can use this food for people who don't have enough money to eat every day. As Tesco, he is the only retailer in the UK that no longer wastes food that is fit for human consumption in its supermarket.

From my point of view, we must appreciate what we have, because many people dream of having to eat every day. We have to help them and not waste so much food thinking about them.

  14. Every day people throw away the food that they do not eat and there are many poor people who do not have money to eat and buy . So, why throw away the food? In Sydney, has opened the first supermarket of rescued –food that provides donated products. In this way, no food is wasted . More over in Australia customers are asked to pay what they can and as they feel .

I think that people should be more carreful with the food that they buy to don´t waste it.

  16. Nowadays, there are some places around the world where people don´t have enought money and they don´t also have food. That´s a really important problem because we often waste food that are in good conditions. So, what can we do to help?

On the one hand, each person should buy the food you need, without surplus. Besides, if you have too much food at home and you aren´t going to eat it at all, you can give it to poor people or sell it.

On the other hand, It is important that big companies and countries help, for example, in Australia had been open the first rescued-food supermarket!

In my opinion, we should think about our actions and not throw food in good conditions. In addition, it is very important to help others and be generous!

  17. Nowadays, food ,in some places and countries like Africa or South America, is a problem because there is not enough food for all the people and the little food there are it is bad quality.
In other countries like USA or Spain, we have the opposite problem, because every day we throw a lot of food and we must stop it, because there will can be a moment that we have not enough food for us.

I think that the rescued-food supermarket in Australia is a very good idea because this concept means that all of the food that we throw up they offer it to another people and this food is good harnessed.

The rescue-food supermarket could be stay in more countries for solve and end with the thrown food and finish this problem that is not good for anybody.
