BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

  2. The Endurance is a ship which was built in 1912. It was designed to sail in the cold water of the Artic and Antarctic ocean. In 1914, the ship was sailing in the Antarctic ocean when it got stuck in the ice. Inside there were around 30 crew members and several animals. As the crew wasn't able to free the ship, they left it. They took food, clothes and all they need to survive and escaped using the lifeboats. A few weeks later, the Endurance finally sank.

There was so much ice that they had to wait until the conditions were better to go to a safe place. After nearly 500 days, they arrived to a small island on April 1915. They were finally rescued on August after some failed attempts. The captain survived and didn't stop sailing. In fact, he died during a trip seven years later due to a heart attack.

When the Endurance sank, the captain recorded its position, and this fact has made it possible to find the ship more than 100 years after it got stuck. The Endurance has been found only four miles away from the original place recorded by the captain of the ship. Surprisingly, it was well conserved. Finding it has been a difficult task, because of the huge amount of ice and the bad weather conditions but, after all, it has been possible to find it.

This incredible story has been brought to the literature as Alfred Langsing wrote a book about the Endurance's story. In addition, several ships have been named Endurance in honour to the icebreaker that sank a hundred years ago. Even some videogames have made references to the ship, which in my opinion is amazing.

  3. Ernest Schakleton was an Irish explorer,he was a principal part of the heroic age of the exploration of the Antartid. His first contact with the polar regions was as third oficial in the Discovery Expedition, that was inciated by the captain Robert Falcon Scott. He returned to the Antartid in 1907 as captain of the Nimrod Expedition. In January of 1909 he and his three partners went to the most meridional point ever discovered. Thanks to that achievement, when he returned to home,Schakleton was designated "sir" by the king Eduardo VII.

  4. The Endurance is a ship that was built to navigate the Arctic and Antarctic oceans. In 1914, the ship was in the ocean of the Antarctic when it became atrapped in the ice.

Because the workers were unable to liberate the ship, the 30 members had to abandon it. They took everything they needed to survive and escaped. Some time later, the Endurance ended up sinking. After approximately 500 days, they reached a small island, where they were rescued.

Thanks to the captain anote the location of the ship where it was last seen, they can find the Endurance after 108 years, which had only moved about four miles. The ice and the weather conditions made the work more difficult, but it was finally lograted.

To sum up, this incredible story is the model for many books, documentaries and films. It shows us how problems always have a solution, although it is difficult.

  6. The ability to last is called endurance, as a synonym of permanence, continuity or continuance. So, it is something really important that all of us need to have to continue in our way against all our adversities. We, the students in 2º Bachillerato, need it to finish this last year in the secondary school, and eventually, to achieve all our goals, until we get to where we want.

Endurance is also the name of a ship that was built in 1912 and that had the objective to sail and explore a part of the Antartic. This expedition with this objective set off in 1914 and its commander was Sir Ernest Shackleton. But, when they were sailing the ship got stuck between two ice plates, and it couldn't navigate any more, eventually it got destroyed because of the pressure.

For this reason, all the sailors had to abandon the ship, and travelled in sledge on the ice sea of Weddell. And, finally, they travelled by boat to the Elephant's island, and arrived in an island, after more than 500 days without walking on land. Recently, in March, some specialists were able to discover where the ship was, and they were able to find it, after more than 107 years later.

So, to sum up, I reckon that it is amazing what this tripulation did, they were able to survive and return safe to their land, in such bad conditions. So, now we can think that if we have some endurance, we will be able to do all we propose ourselves. In reality, with some endurance nothing is impossible.

  7. The expeditions that people did in the past were dangerous but very important. Thanks to explorers like for example Shackleton, we can know many places in the world.

The objective of the expedition was crossing the Antartic but the ship Endurance was trapped in the ice. They were six months there and finally, they decided to go to other islands and find civilization.

During the expedition, Shackleton and other men went to South Georgia in a small boat for help. However, it was difficult. He tried to save their men three times but there was a lot of ice. Finally, after 5 months, a ship from Chile saved the men and they returned to Britain.

To conclude, the adventures of Shackleton and his crew are a metaphor of difficult situations in the life. They are a lesson of effort and perseverance.
