ResponderEliminarA leap year is the year the have 366 days instead of 365. This extra day is the 29th of February. We can have a leap year every four years.
ResponderEliminarLeap years exist because the earth doesn't take exactly 365 days to go around the sun. It takes a bit less than 355 days and 6 hours. Our calendar ignores these 6 hours and "accumulates" them so every four years we have accumulated a day and we add this day to February.
This year has exist since the year 46BC. It began with the julian calendar created by Julius Caesar. This calendar created an extra day every four years.
Actually there are some interesting facts about leap years. For example 2000 or 1800 are leap years, but 1900 or 1700 are not leap years because century leap years must be divisible by 400.
This year is a leap year, and thanks to that we have been able to enjoy another day in February. Being the shortest month of the year, one more day is added.
ResponderEliminarThe Andalusian students have been fortunate to enjoy a long break of four days, because the day of Andalusia is celebrated on February 28, and the day that is added to February is the 29th.
These days I have been able to rest, and I have also enjoyed my family a lot, we have gone on a trip to Cadiz, and we have gone to the famous carnivals.
Thanks to the extra six hours of the year we have one more day to enjoy with the family, to read, to study, to play ...
Every four years we can enjoy another day!

A leap year is the year which has 366 days instead of 365. One extra day is added to the shortest month of the year-February. This year occurs every four years.
ResponderEliminarThe Earth takes 365 days and 6 hours to complete its rotation around the sun. This means that the calendar year is about 6 hours shorter than the actual solar year and that´s why leap years are observed every four years.
This year, 2020, is a leap year, which means that February has 29 days instead of 28. So everyone born on February 29th gets to celebrate their birthday this year!

29th February is day that only happens every four years. This yeaar is called leap year. This year ,2020, has 366 days instead of 365 days because it is leap year. I have a cousin who was born on February 29th and every year he celebrates his birthday on March 1st except leap years.

A leap year is a year like this year, we have one day more in February, having for this reason 366 days, not 365 like any other ordinary year. A leap year happens every 4 years, and as the Earth take 365 days and 6 hours, each fourth year we add 6 hours resulting into a total addiction of 24 hours, making this day added in February.
ResponderEliminarNowadays it is an averange day that we make the same thing as the other days, but in the past they think that this day was a bad luck day and this resulted into the fact that everybody considered this kind of years very unlucky.
In my opinion, nowadays it is the same if we have one more day or if we have a day less, because in our society we are used to doing the same thing. We think that we need to celebrate this day, because I think that it is a special day that only takes place each 4 years.

A common year is 365 days long, but there are some years that have 366 days. They´re called leap years, and they add one day to February. This kind of years happens each 4 years, and that´s because the Earth takes 365 days and 6 hours, so every 4 years you´ve got 24 extra hours, which is a day.
ResponderEliminarThis was intoduced in the 1 b.C, when Cesar changed the Roman calendar searching for a solution to the inequality of the seasons.
There are many people that have been born on that day, but of course they don´t only add years that day, so they celebrate their birthday the day before or the day after.
As a curious fact, in some countries it is thought that these days bring bad luck, so they say "año bisiesto, año siniestro". In Greece, they think that the whole year will bring bad luck, not only the day.

2020 has been a year marked as the most tragic, among the events that are marking history are: rumors of war, death, devastation, pandemic and mourning; are some of the aspects that make 2020 the worst year in recent decades. Every year generally has a few defining moments, but the last few months have contained so many world-changing and paradigm-shifting developments that it is hard to believe that we are not in a simulation that runs all possible scenarios at once.

ResponderEliminarA leap year is a year that has one more day, and that day is 29th February. It has 366 days instead of 365. It is a very interesting thing because it makes it a unique day.
ResponderEliminarThis happens every 4 years because the Earth takes a little more than 365 days to go around the sun, specifically 6 more hours. When we add the six hours over 4 years, they add up 24 hours, that is one day, and that is why every four years there is one more day than normal.
One of my best friends was born on February 29th, 2004. That is why this year, a little before the quarantine began, he celebrated his 4th birthday. It was really funny, because he blew out 4 candles instead of 16, even though he actually celebrates his birthday every year on March 1st. Despite not always having a birthday, he likes it because he says it is something more special.
I love leap years, because so the Andalusian break we usually have one more day of holidays. Also, it feels like a weird day, but at the same time special. The year I was born, 2004, was a leap, but since I was born in November I didn´t live that day, so I have only lived 3 leap years in my whole life.
A curiosity is that in Greece, they consider leap years bring bad luck… They must be right... We can find important negative events that occurred in leap years, such as the sinking of the Titanic or the beginning of World War II or the coronavirus! In Ireland, quite the opposite, the leap year is considered a symbol of good luck. Important positive events have also happened, such as the discovery of penicillin. Maybe it's all coincidence, and after all, a leap year is a normal year, only with one more day.
Great entry ,Alberto!!!
