BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

  1. Today, shorter attention span is becoming a serious problems with students. With the advance of new technologies we are surrounded by computers, mobiles, televisions, tablets that can distract us and that can make us difficult to pay attention. Now, I'm going to explain a bit the current situation of this problem.

Nowadays, teachers are always trying to make the students keep attention in class. Many students are not be able to keep attention fifteen minutes at least in class. This is caused because they many times have friends that make them laugh or that distract them. However, there is other raison that is related with new technologies.

According to experts, we spend much time in front of mobiles or computers' screens. They have tested that students find it harder to concentrate now than a decade ago. This is probably caused because of the big amount of information that arrive to us in a short period of time with mobiles or tablets. We can't analyze all this information and we don't pay attention to it. Experts have tested that people who speak a lot with other people by new technologies have problems when they have to communicate face to face with people.

In my view, we spend a lot of time in front of a screen, we should do more family activities or with friends, Although some experts say that new technologies have a mostly positive impact on students' research work, I think we are making an excessive use of internet.

  2. Present-day, the excessive use of technology has developed in students a significant problem in the lack of attention.
Therefore, I will tell a little about the situation that is currently with technologies.

Many problems associated with the excessive use of new technologies are bad grades, sleep, anxiety because you finish the class and distraction often. This fact affects not only when it comes to teach classes, but students after school hours to come home and spend hours seeing television or front of the computer.
Note that it is also difficult for teachers if we, instead, because they are unable to attract the attention of students is more concentrated for example on mobile than in class. So one of the prohibitions of the school it is therefore prohibited the use of mobile in class.

As well as parents tries to convince students that the activities of distraction outside class outdoor sunken time predominantly use the computer or video games.Another important fact is the fact that it has been proven that people who only speak by mobile phones or computers, tend to have problems when it comes to talking face to face.

As far as i'm concerned, I think that the fact of activities without mobile, computers, etc., could help a lot to the development of attention and even improvement of grades in class. Let us leave aside new technologies and continue as for decades, spending more time with family and friends than with the technologies.

  3. Nowadays the shorter attention span is a problem very common. Usually the students are easily distracted. We talk between us, do homework in other subjects or simply we doesn't want pay attention. Many teachers scold us for that we attend in class. They try keep our attention with videos of the explanations or funny classes although sometimes this ideas doesn't act. Even so, they try many things more.

We mustn't ignore to our teacher because if we pay attentions we will be better prepared for our exams. In many times, we suspend the exams because the teacher told a question and we doesn't pay attention. For this, in this third term we must attend every day to the teacher because we must oass the exams for have a good summer. Also, when the teacher knows that you attend he can have a positive and keep it in mind.

In my opinion, we must attends always, because sure that we have very good marks. If the teacher draw attention we will have bad marks because he can piss off with us. I have a similar example, because I not pay attention in the first term and now I attend and have better marks. I hope keep it up.

  5. Is it right that nowadays pupils have a shorter attention span? Or have they had it for more time ago? Have you ever thought what the reason why we don't keep attention in class is? What should be done to keep our attention at explanations during a big time?

For the great majority of people, technology's more downsides than advantages. One such example could be they are always saying that phones and the Internet take too much of our time so, we don't concentrate completely. According to the piece of news that I've read, young people who spend a lot of time alone using technology "tend to have less in the way of communication skills, self-awareness and emotional intelligence, nonetheless, that is not because they don't have the capabilities."

Secondly, we can talk about the way of teaching. There are 2 main ways: the first one is about copying, the teacher dictates what you have to write and you write down it; and the other one is talking with us and making us think. The best kind of learning is the second one, as if you think about something you have to be concentrated and you are able to reason the question, thus you don't have to memorise anything that in the next days you will forget.

Taking all into account, I believe that having attention depend on each person. However, it is true that the surroundings also help us to concentrate. Currently, most teens and children have a new gadget, which is named “spinner” and it is known that it helps overactive people. I don't agree, it takes your attention and you can't concentrate. And in the end, I'd like to say that most teachers should change their way of teaching and so, they would help students.

  6. Today the lack of concentration is a very common and serius problem. We
are tired of listening to teachers say that it is becoming increasingly difficult to get students to listen to them and to be attentive in class, the problem is important since lack of concentration and attention is one of the main triggers of school failure. As I said most school performance depends on concentration in class. In this field psychopedagogues ensure that children are expected to become accustomed to being concentrated in a task for a few minutes so that when they grow up they will be able to concentrate, read or study for several hours at a time. Nowadays what happens to most people is that at a moment you are studying or doing homework and justo a minute later you see the cell phone or your friend, the result of this is that one does not end up doing Nothing, with a great feeling of frustation:"technology dominates all aspects of our life" I think that in order to avoid use new motivational techniques in order to be able to spend concentrated hours, studying, reading or attending class without problem.

  8. I’m going to write about the shorter students’ attention span. Everybody agrees that the internet and digital gadgets are making it harder for us to concentrate, and even more for the younger people; but it is not the only one.

The average human's attention span is... oh look, a bird! Ok, let’s go. The average attention span for the notoriously ill-focused goldfish is nine seconds, but according to a new study from Microsoft Corp., people now generally lose concentration after eight seconds, highlighting the effects of an increasingly digitalized lifestyle on the brain, especially thanks to smartphones. On the positive side, the report says our ability to multitask has drastically improved in the mobile age.

According to scientists, the age of smartphones has left humans with such a short attention span even a goldfish can hold a thought for longer. What’s more, we spend a huge amount of time in front of screens. By the way, a decade ago it was easier to concentrate; it may be because there was a poor technology. Currently, spinners are more and more used by teenagers. They even used them while they are in classes. It has already produced several problems and accidents on younger people.

All in all, I think that if we wanted concentrate, we would can do it. The attention span in
students it may be a lack of commitment, because when they are doing something they don’t give as much importance as it has and it seems them harder, so they look for another way out and they always get involved in nonsenses.

  11. I’m going to write about the shorter students’ attention span.

Nowadays, the students have a problemas when they have to pay attention due to the computers, mobiles, etc. The teachers want that the students pay attention the whole class, but it is impossible since the students pay attention 15 minutes. They used to look the mobile phone or they look for the window. Also they speak one with another.

The students pass a lot of time with the mobiles, instead of doing the homework and studying. For this reason his notes go down. The persons who live in cities are the mas connected to the mobiles since they can cross a zebra crossing looking at the mobile, they do not think that on not having looked it can knock down a car. Already there have been many accidents for this type of things.

The experts say that the technology has a positive impact in the persons. I think that not, since the persons pass a lot of time with the mobiles instead of doing other things. In a few years it is going to produce many diseases that from my point of view it will be incurable.

  13. Technology is a progress in our society; thanks to that, the people live better and life is easier. Also, we can have some information that we want to have in a moment with our phones and computers but this technology has some problems.

Phones are additive for many people because they can´t stay one day without it. Phones have many applications that distract people who use them. For instance, children can easily be distracted by the use of their phones in class and they can´t concentrate well to do something.

Another problem is cyber-attacks, which can be very harmful for your personal computers. That criminals get into the web and steal important information. The solution is prevention.

Technology needs to be used correctly and we shouldn´t abuse of it because something in excess is bad.

  14. I also think that students pay less and less attention in class. I'm sure that nobody can pay attention in all the class time. There are some students that are attentive in class almost all the time, but there are others that can't be concentrate for more than a quarter of an hour. It is a big problem for them, if they don't pay attention in class, they won't learn anything and they will fail in their exams. They realise that they don't know doing anything of the exam they day before it and it is already too late.

The main reasons for this problem are that students start to talk with a friend, they laugh or they make things that aren't connected with the class. There are also students who use their mobile phone in class because they can't resist to take it, which is another big problem. Due to new technologies, students are more distracted since they are all the time trying to use them or thinking of them, they become addicts. Students spend a lot of time with new technologies at home and it could be one of the reasons for the bad results of the exams since they prefer them to studying.

From my point of view, we all should pay attention in class to get good results and then when we have obtained good results we will be able to spend all the time we want with the technologies.

  16. The objetive of this essay is to discuss if short attention span is due to technology. In the following lines I am going to write about: how technology affects young people’s life, the advantages of Internet and its main downside.

Nowadays, internet is thought to be the greatest invention of all times for several reasons: instant communication with anyone in the world and gives access to an endless supply of entertainment, knowledge and information.

Nevertheless, they have a negative impact on learning, as it is said in the article, we live in a hyper-stimulating world, because of this more and more learners have problems to concentrate in a chalk-and-talk lesson. Schools have tried to solve this banning mobile phones, but as we can see this has not solved anything.

It is an open secret that they also have a negative impact on young people’s social life. There are a big number of studies carried out by psychologists that say that people who spend a lot of time alone using internet and technology may have low communication skills. This is due to the fact that they spend so much time communicating remotely with people rather than face-to-face.

To conclude, I would add that I reckon that having attention depend on each person and even if teachers made their classes more amusing, students would not pay more attention.

  17. Nowadays, the shorter attention span is becoming a serious problem for students. New technologies do not help students to concentrate on their studies.

Teachers are realizing the situation that is causing this. Many students are not able to maintain attention in class for more than ten minutes. But this is not only because of new technologies , but by distracting in class with their peers.

In my view, young people today spend a lot of time with technologies. We should go out more with our friends and travel with our families. We should also organize our study hours with leisure time.

  19. Today, it is said that children find it harder and harder to pay attention in class, which is a serious problem. Thus, teachers are always comlaining about how difficult it is to keep students' attention to what is being done. So, in this essay I'm going to talk about the reasons why I think this issue is caused.

Most people think the cause may be the internet and the advance of new technologies, as it's too difficult to find a teenager who hasn't got a mobile. Currently, even children prefer playing with the mobile to go out and playing. Other teenagers like spending the whole day playing computer games or watching videos on Youtube, so I think new technologies could be one of the causes of that problem, as they distract us and make us to sleep less. Moreover, according to experts, people who speak a lot through social networks have problems when they have to communicate face to face with other people, as it isn't the same when you have to look at the other person's eyes and don't have so much time to think what you are going to say.

Another study says students find it harder to concentrate now than ten years ago. However, I think the real problem is that nowadays, we live in a society of lazy people. Some years ago, either you studied or you had to work hard. Now, teenagers go to school, although they don't do anything. It's true that there are children and teenagers who have TDAH, which is an attention deficit disorder, but now there are more and more students who "supposedly have this problem", and in my opinion the real reason is that they don't want to study.

Now, I'm going to talk about the way of teaching, which I think is the other reason why teenagers don't pay attention in class. Sometimes classes are so boring that students get bored and start to think about sometyhing else. Or maybe, the teacher dictates and the only thing you have to do is copying, so finally you get tired of this situation and disconnect from the class.

To sum up, I reckon that paying attention depends on each person unless you have a disorder. There are lots of people that have a good mind to study and they would get great marks if they studied a bit, but they don't want. I also think that we should spend less time with our mobile phones and computers, so that we could concentrate more. Finally, I reckon certain teachers should realize that their way to teach isn't appropriate and they should change their way to teach and so, they would help their students.
