BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Sparking your interest (QUARANTINE: DAY 66)

I always try to spark your interest by introducing you to topics you may want to know about, but as you'll see now I don't need any electricity to do it!

Here's a listening exercise for you about 'ELECTRICITY'  >>>> Electricity facts to spark your interest!!! (6 Minute English, BBC Learning English)

So how would we translate the expression 'to spark your interest' into Spanish?

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE QUARANTINE

 Wednesday, 20th May

Homework for today:

  • Do exercises on page 92 (Unit 7).

Have a look at the song below by Pharrell Williams, especially the version with lyrics and try to see what it means.

Here are some things to do based on the OLD THAT'S ENGLISH episodes you have watched these previous days:

1. You are the waiter. How do you offer a customer a table?

2. You are the customer. How do you ask the waiter for the menu?

3. You are the waiter. How do you ask the customer what they want to eat?

4. Tell me STARTERS in the menu.

5. Tell me MAIN COURSES in the menu.

6. Tell me DESSERTS in the menu.

7. Tell me DRINKS in the menu.

8. You are the customer. How do you ask the waiter for the bill?

Today there's no homework for fake students who did fake exams:

  • As a result of massive cheating in the exams we did on Thursday and, especially, on Monday, the results in the fake exams done by the fake students (mainly those who cheated) the results in them have been invalidated and a note to the parents has been published in PASEN.

Here's the original message sent to the families through PASEN >>>

I just ask the students to carry out a reflection on what they did and the hard times we are going through.

Let's revise with mmmEnglish the Prepositions of  PLACE 👉 IN / ON / AT / BY

Here's the second song connected with FREEDOM I present you. This one is by Pharrell Williams:

  1. Sometimes no words are needed and this is the case.
I could even refer to a Spanish saying that talks about dasies and pigs...but it is not worth the effort.
I could talk about time and putting everybody in their place. But I won't.
Somebody should be feeling ashamed and very, very embarrassed.
And I Just want to thank you, Alberto, for your being such a hard-working person,no matter who and no matter how.

  2. We actually have calmed COVID-19, but in phase 0 on the zone of Granada and Malaga we have problems and the government decided to keep us in this phase for one week more, and now we are in phase 1 near to pass to phase 2, we think.

I used this opportunity to meet with my friends and it was fantastic, but some people screw it again and, maybe, we have to wait another week to pass to phase 2, but I'm confortable with this phase because we can visit friends' houses and it's not bad. At least we have more things to do.
I hope we pass to the next phase of this quarantine.

In the future, I think that this would be better if we concentrated to the precautions. Maybe, in the summer, we could have a normally life and wait the results of COVID-19 at the hot weather.

  3. We have already passed of phase , they have been slow to let us pass of phase (granada, málaga) as they say we did not go through the number of infected people. However, we have already gone from 0 to 1 and it was possible that we would pass the next week to phase two, but they say that we have to stay one more week to go to the level of the other communities.
In this phase , I have been able to see friends who had not seen them for a long time. Although we do not pass , It will be fine in this phase and if we return to normality in this summer.

  4. Electricity is essential to live almost everything works with electricity: to make food (the vitro), to keep food fresh (fridge), to keep food frozen (freezer), to dry our hair (dryer), to combat the heat (fan), to combat the cold (radiator) and many more electronic devices for different functions.

We also have to give it the importance that it has because it allows us to see at night as well as to be able to drive our vehicles and respect the traffic lights.

Electricity, although we do not realize it, is very, very important in our life and thanks to it we have such a good life, in other countries where they do not have this magnificent invention of electricity, it does not have as many opportunities as we have, therefore I think that it is necessary to take advantage of it, but well used.

The bad thing about electricity is that it is a very expensive tax, we must use it only when it is necessary.
