BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Amazing story: Three tourists killed by lightning in Argentina!!!!

Have you ever heard such an amazing story ever before?

Read the story in these two articles and tell me your opinion and if you've ever heard something similar.

What would you do in case there were some lightnings? Here's some advice:  1   2   and the final solution: GET INTO  A CAR AND CLOSE DOORS AND WINDOWS!!!!  WHY? Read about the Faraday Cage.

Some activities for fun:   Weather quiz  & crossword on weather

  1. As the wise Confucius said: "If you tell me about it I forget, if you explain your me, I remember, if I do (I experiment) I learn." (more or les)
I learned, as Confucius taught us, the concept of "Faraday cage" and lived to tell the tale

  2. I think that thunderstorms are very dangerous for people, not only because they can kill people if lightning hit them, but they can also cause other disasters, like fires. Besides, they can break electrical networks or buildings in the city.

In my opinion, it’s very dangerous to be in an open field during a storm, since once, I read that the rays hit to the object that is higher. For this reason, if I were in an open field during an electrical storm, I would lay on the floor.
Hiding under a tree is also a dangerous option, because the lightning can hit it and cause a fire.

On the contrary, I think that going home is the safest option. Stay in the car is dangerous, too, although a bit less, since the antenna can attract the lightning, and the car could be hit by the lightning.

To sum up, from my point of view, during this type of stroms, we must avoid the open fields and the places where there are objects that can attract electricity.
Personally, I feel very scared when there is a thunderstorm, because sometimes you can’t be protected against the nature.

  3. A thunderstorm is a form of turbulent weather characterized by the presence of lightning and its acoustic effect on the Earth's atmosphere known as thunder. Thunderstorms are usually accompanied by strong winds, heavy rain and sometimes snow, sleet, hail, or no precipitation at all.

The place where thunderstorms are more common and stronger is in USA. The state of the USA where thunderstorms are the most frequent is Florida. It estimate that thunderstorm in the USA cause every year 93 deaths and 300 injuries. The percentages of deaths in Florida by thunders are 27% in open landscape, 13% under a tree, 25% in water, 6% using heavy equipment, 3% in golf course, 25% unknown or not reported.

In my opinion thunderstorm are very dangerous. Here, in the South of Spain there aren’t too many thunderstorms, so there aren’t many causes of thunders. If you are in a thunderstorm you should find a shelter to protect yourself. Also you should stay away from windows and from metal or electrical things. If you are outside you should avoid large open spaces and you should avoid trees and light post. Another important thing you should stay away from the water.

  4. What can we do if we are in the middle of a lighthing storm? It is said that the lighthings storms are very dangerous. There are some advices which we should follow in order to avoid damage.

Firstly, if you are at home, you must keep the windows and doors closed. In adiction to this, you don’t have to use the landline phone as Lightning can travel into the home from through any material that conducts electricity.

Secondly, Is very dangerous be in a open field in the middle of a lighthing storm. You have to stay away from isolated objects such as trees and light posts. In my father’s town, 35 years ago, a shepherd and his goats died hit by lightning. Another important advice isthe following, if you are in the car, avoid to touch metal things.

In conclusion, it’s seem to me that the lighthing storms are very dangerous so if you live in a lightning-prone area, you should be prepared in order to can avoid damages.

  5. Faraday effect is caused in which the electromagnetic field inside a conductor is zero balance, canceling the effect of passage of external fields. This is because, when the driver is subject to an external electromagnetic field is polarized, so that it is positively charged in the direction going electromagnetic field, and negatively charged in the opposite direction. Since the driver has been polarized, this generates an electric field equal in magnitude but opposite in direction to the magnetic field, then the sum of both fields within the conductor will be equal to 0.

  6. There are very interesting articles because they talk about the huge power and magnificence of the electric energy. A lightning can ba admirable manifestation of nature, but you must be carefully with that energy.

Some of these suggestions to survive to an electric storm I knew before, for example, I knew that refuge under a tree was not a good idea, but I didn't know that an electric storm could be dangerous including protected at your home. You must have very importan cautions.

I can say the comparative about the experiment of Benjamin Franklin to demostrate the conduct property of the electricity with a key hekd in a comet with the riddle pf the light properties, made of photons. Actual scientifies study the light properties as matter or energy, that is still an interrogating for the science today.

In conclusion, I can say that today we have a phenomenon of nature useful and admirable.

  7. Electricity is probably the most important things of today´s world. Without it, many of our technological innovations would not exist.

Although this energy is vital for our lives, it's one of those things that are only good in the right amounts, like food. Too much electricity can electrocute people and also can kill our machines.

But thanks to Michael Faraday, a brilliant 19th century scientist, and one of his most important inventions, the Faraday cage, we humans have developed lots of ways to control electricity and make it safer for our computers, cars and other inventions, even for us.

Faraday cages shield their contents from static electric fields. These cages often look distinct, but all Faraday cages take electrostatic charges, or even certain types of electromagnetic radiation, and distribute them around the exterior of the cage.

Faraday cage distributes that charge around the exterior face of the cage, it cancels electric charges in the cage's interior. To sum up, a Faraday cage is a conductor, which the charge remains on the external surface of the cage.

  8. Michael Faraday was a British physicist and chemist, known mainly for his discoveries of electromagnetic induction and the laws of electrolysis.

While he worked as an apprentice in a London bindery, he read books of scientific topics that led him to bind and especially on topics related to physics and chemistry. He attended H. Davy's lectures at the Royal Institution and sent to him, bound, the notes he had made, asking for a job. In 1812, Davy offered him a position as assistant, where he remained until 1820.

In 1827 he was appointed professor at the Royal Institution. In 1825 he discovered benzene in lighting gas. As from 1821 (the year he married), he devoted himself to the study of electricity and magnetism, where he was to achieve his greatest achievements: the first electric motor, and especially electromagnetic induction, which he demonstrated by building a precursor of today's electric transformer. In it he observed that by passing a direct current through the primary, the needle of a galvanometer connected to the secondary moves, and moves again in the opposite direction when the current is cut off.

In 1831 he built the first dynamo, that transforms a magnet's movement into an electric current induced in a coil. This experiment led him to introduce the concept of lines of force. In 1821 he plotted the magnetic field around a conductor through which an electric current flows.
