Chinese Calendar is a calendar of lunisolar type, is based on observations of the Moon and the Sun, but mainly of the Moon.
ResponderEliminarIn antiquity the Chinese knew only the duration of the solar year, which it considered of 366 whole days. This refutes the belief existing in some European and American books, where it's affirmed that the Chinese had dark notions of the celestial movement. His astronomy wasn't more than a set of simple observations without the slightest scientific spirit, a mere astrology forced to produce time and events. The ancient Chinese lunar calendar is divided into 12 months, some 30 days and some 29, to compensate for the fact that the lunar month has 29 days, 12 hours, 44.05 minutes.
A few days ago, we saw in the news the big celebration of the Chinese New Year, which is the rooster. Each year many people move to their homes to celebrate the Chinese New Year with their families, it's one of the biggest celebrations for them, one of the most striking features is their way of celebrating because they believe that the more people there will be more prosperity for the family, the elders are the ones who must give the first bite of the banquet and with a drink they propose a toast to the elders, one by one, wishing them a long life. If you don't hear the noise of the firecrackers it seems that there isn't party, in the imperial time each family was throwing firecrackers the first day of the New Year to frighten the evil spirits and attract good luck.
To sum up, I find this way of celebrating the New Year very interesting, since our celebration has nothing to do with China. On the other hand I consider that all cultures are the same although some cultures are more interesting than others, but we must all respect each other and live in peace.

As well, it is marked by the lunisolar Chinese calendar, so the date changes from year to year. It usually takes place the day before of the New Year and continues until the 15th day. Each year is characterised by one of the twelve animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac. This year it is the Year of the Rooster, the 10th animal in the cycle. On the contrary, this celebration also takes place in London, which is one of the biggest outside Asia. Thousands of people go to London’s Chinatown, where a parade traditionally takes place to celebrate it.
Finally, I think that the Chinese New Year is such a great and beautiful festival. One of my friends bought an article in internet that came from China and the seller replied her politely that they were celebrating the New Year so he would send the goods later.
