BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

For the moment being

'For the moment being' (look up this interesting expression in LINGUEE) and try to use it in your comments.

For the moment being, the return to school has presented no problems at all. We will just have to still comply with all the Covid protocol and regulations and I am sure we will all sort out any difficulties we may come across. Anyway, the flock or herd imminuty required to reach a high level of safety is closer and closer with the vaccination of the younger population.

Again fantastic news!!! I have just learned that Mª Trini Ortiz (2º Bach last year) has passed her B1 exam  (Cambridge) CONGRATULATIONS to her!!!

  1. Can the year get worse? Suddenly bad things don't stop happening with the virus, the earthquakes, and now the volcano, what have we done wrong? why is the world punishing us in this way?

I don't stop hearing bad things in the news and that's terrible, I wish the volcano is the last bad thing at least in these year, we need to rest, being stressed and worried every day is surely not good for us. But talking about the volcano, what a mess, I put myself in the place of others and it's horrible let's see if we are lucky and it ends soon.

About natural disasters it's true that earthquakes and volcanoes are horrible, but the worst one for me it's a tsunami I think that if I heard on the news that a tsunami it's coming on I will faint at the moment. It's the natural disaster I like less because I thing that it is the one in which there is less probability of surviving, and that scared me.

  2. A few days ago a volcano erupted in La Palma. The volcano is causing serious damage, many people have had to be evacuated from their homes because the lava was going to reach their homes.

Not only it is destroying houses, it is also destroying everything in its path, that means that many people will lose their businesses and that all the land that the lava catches will be destroyed

I have seen on the news that the lava may reach the sea today. If the lava reaches the sea, it would be very dangerous because when the lava and the water mix, very toxic gases are emitted, these gases can kill you if you are exposed to them for a long time.

When that happens, the direction and strength of the wind is very important because it can carry those toxic gases to the island and many people would be affected.

  3. The volcano in the Palm island erupted on September 19th. After 50 years, it caused 25,000 small earthquakes and then the eruption of the volcano. Many of the consequences are: the destruction of many houses and forests, the loss of many animals and the toxic air expelled from the volcano that is dangerous to our health. 6. The La Palma volcano erupted on 19th September and it´s still active today. At first it seemed something spectacular and difficult to see in a country like Spain. A few days later, I realized that it was a catastrophe for that island.
It´s very sad to see how the lava continues to advance, burying houses and leaving people with nothing. As if that weren´t enoungh, the people in that area of the island aren´t only losing their homes, also their businesses such as banana plantations.
In last days the lava has reached the sea, has caused toxic gases and the most incredible thing is that a delta is forming, enlarging the island. I hope this will end soon and that all those affected with goverment help will have a home again.

  8. Like last year, this school year we still have to wear face masks and keep social distance, but many of us are already vaccinated so if we had the coronavirus we would have few symptoms or even we could be asymptomatic!

For me, this is going to be my last year because I'm studying 2° of Bachillerato. It is going to be a hard year because I'm going to study a lot of new subjects that I've never studied before, but all the effort I'm making will have its reward at the end of the year.

Nearly three weeks ago a volcano named Cumbre Vieja erupted in La Palma, one of the Canary islands. The volcano has caused much desolation because it has destroyed many buildings and there are many people who have lost their houses or businesses. Todoque is one of the villages affected by the volcano. There, the volcano has destroyed many buildings, like the school or the church. In fact, more that 85% of the building in Todoque have been buried by the lava!

From my point of view, we have to help all the people who have lost it all. There are many ways to help them. Some people has sent them clothes and toys while others prefer to donate them some money. My parents have some friends who live in the Canary Islands, and some of them are from La Palma. We're very worried because a few days ago we learnt that one of my parents friends had lost his house because of the eruption. Unfortunately the eruption isn't going to finish soon, so all that we can do is to wait for it to end and help the affected people.

The volcano is releasing a poisonous gas that can affect the health of people who breathe it.

We cannot do anything to solve this problem because it is a natural disaster, we can only wait for the volcano to stop pouring lava.

  11. We have already started a new school year, in our case it will be the last year in the secondary school, it will be really difficult, but we need to make an effort and finish well our studies at the secondary school. Last year was a bad and difficult year because of coronavirus, and we went through a lot of difficult situations, but we could cope with them, so I reckon that this year could be better than last year, so we can defeat the pandemia this year.

Nowadays, we see a lot of bad news on television that make our excitement fade away, for example we usually see on television all the bad news about Covid-19 and that there are still so many cases in Spain and there are people that die diary ans that they leave all their dreams, illussions and their family and friends behind in the world. That is really sad because these people that die should have had the same opportunities as the people that continue alive and they had dreams and some goals in their lives. But that's not all, now we have natural disasters.

To all the problems we already had, we must add the volcano in Las Palmas, a volcano that started to erupt three weeks ago and that is still erupting and whose rivers of lava are destroying all the houses and constructions that were on the sides of the volcano, so there are too many people that have lost their houses and must have been evacuated because they can't be there because of the lava. The volcano are also emiting poisonous gas that could affect the health of the people who breathe it, so it is very dangerous.

Finally, I think that we are living a really bad situation, but we can't do anything to solve this bad situation because it is a natural disaster, and we only can wait until the volcano stops its eruption and the governement will have to find a solution for all these people that are losing their houses and some are also losing their fields and jobs, because they worked in the fields.

  12. The new course has already started and for now it is going well but we will start with the exams right now. This is already my last year and the worst of all, because it is the most complicated although if you study every day you can get the course with a good grade, although this year will be very difficult but it is not so bad because there are many people If they are really having a hard time, these are the people who live on La Palma.

A few days ago something happened that had not happened in Spain for 50 years, and that is that a volcano erupted on La Palma, the volcano is still active today. The day this volcano erupted, they began to make many earthquakes, this was like a warning of everything that was going to happen. When all this started, they didn't know what to do and they were very scared because, as I said, the last volcano to erupt was about 50 years ago.

All the people who lived there had to take important things and run, since the volcano is breaking everything where it passes and this is a shame since these people have had to leave their whole lives behind, all the effort of many people was left destroyed. They are working very hard even though this is unstoppable and they can't do anything just watch everything he does and destroys. You can only leave the island by boat since it is all covered in ash and the planes do not leave since it is not safe.

Many people are helping these people who have lost everything, we should all be supporting with these people because they need us more than ever. These years have been very difficult since we had a pandemic, there was a storm that produced many problems, the largest fire in the history of Spain occurred in Malaga and now the volcano, I hope that in a while we can be fine but for to get out of all that we have to be all together.

  13. We have already started this new course and how I see, 2º Bach is a bit difficult, but with organization I think we can take it well. This is the last year we will be in the secondary school and after this, we are going to study at the career we like. This is, for sure, the worst year of all because with all the asignatures that we have to study and keeping on the information to pass the last exams with all that we see during the whole year, we are going crazy.

Nowadays, in Spain there aren't so much bad news about COVID since we have started to get all the people vaccinated. The COVID-19 will soon be forgotten and this means that we will be living our lifes like 2 years ago, without any masks or protocols in the highschools. It is a bit sad that before we get the solution of this virus, lot of people died and they didn't have the same opportunities like us to continue our lifes and dreams, but that's not the end, we have now some natural disasters and problems with the environment.

Actually, our biggest problem is the volcano that erupted after lots of years in La Palma. The people who lived behind the volcano thought that since the volcano has not been active for many years, they wouldn't have problems like this one, but, surprise!!!! The volcano erupted and all the houses and all the streets lie melted under the lava. These zones are uninhabitables and the people that left their houses only had 15 min to collect all the things they would like to take with them when evacuating.

To remedy this, people around Spain are donating millions of euros to restore these zones and clear the lava that destroyed all the lifes of these poor unfortunates. If you want, help for this cause and donate the amount of money you wanted just for giving them opportunities to carrying on their lifes.

  14. The eruption of the La Palma volcano was very striking in Spain, and all over the world I believe.
To this day, the volcano is still active and attacking everything it can.
It is sweeping the entire island, it has even reached the sea, and according to scientists, there are still active mouths. All the crops, the houses, the land, are being washed away by lava, and many families have lost everything. Practically, the eruption of this volcano is causing a lot of problems.
I just hope that this disaster will end soon and that all my support goes to the families and to the entire island

  15. These years have been hard for all of us where we had to adapt ourselves to the Coronavirus situation and change our way of life in many aspects. And if we didn´t have enough with the coronavirus the volcano on La Palma erupted a few weeks ago.
One morning I visited Twitter and saw everyone commenting on the situation on La Palma, at first I couldn't believe it but when I saw news about it I realized the difficult situation.
It seems to me a very sad situation because many people have lost their homes and have nowhere else to go, and they also had memories in their homes that they have lost forever. Other people have lost their businesses which will negatively affect the economy.

  16. Normality is closer and closer, there is already a large majority of the population with the vaccine but there is still a way to go as there are people who have not been. Wanted to vaccinate since they think that all this is a hoax but they really are people who are not aware of what there is because if they would be already vaccinated.

The return to the institute has been with less strict protocols than last year since this year it is a little more relaxed but still we should not relax since it would suppose that there could be another wave.

We still have to be very careful because even though the end is near there is still a long way to go and we must continue to comply with the rules that exist until this is over.

  17. A new school year has started, and I´m really determined! Finally, I can see the end of the road, the light at the end, but it won´t be easy. This will probably be the worst year of all. We are going to see a lot of things and the exams will be harder. But it´s not that bad, it could be worse, for example, with the situation on La Palma.

10 days ago, a volcano erupted in the Canary Islands, more specifically on the isle of La Palma. It has been 50 years since the last volcano erupted in Spain, so the situation has surprised everybody. The volcano is leaving a situation of destruction and sadness wherever it goes. The villagers are leaving their lives behind, all their memories, their feelings, everything they have lived, suddenly faded away.

As always, the worst situations make people show their best. People are volunteering, donating and collaborating to make people´s lives less sad, trying to fill the void the volcano has created in their hearts. That´s a beautiful fact of the humankind, they always show their best in the worst situations, it was the same with the pandemic, at the beginning, everyone was kind with each other, but at the end, the envy of the persons ruined everything, showing again what we are really like.

In summary, it is too soon to say how hard the volcano has affected the economy of the islands, the volcano is still damaging La Palma, so many things can still happen. We have to empathize with the people affected, they have lost everything, and if we can, we should all help them. But, above all, we have to continue with our lives, there´s a whole school year ahead, and we have to do our best!

  18. The people of La Palma are suffering a lot from the volcano, it has destroyed many houses and banana trees which caused the people who had banana trees to be left without them forever, and those that have remained intact are bad and probably toxic because of the volcano's ash . It's been a month since It woke up I hope it stops soon.

  19. These last years are happening many bad things,
like COVID, earthquake in Granada and now is happening
    volcano.These things are terrible.

From my point of view people are doing many bad things
and for this reason it happens
When the Earthquake occured I was very scared.
In Granada, lots of people lost their houses.
Fortunately, my cousin who lives there, he was safe.

But I think in the people who lost their houses and I felt very bad,
because they lost the thing more important in their lifes.

Now the volcano is happening, this is the worst thing that could happen because you don’t know if your house will be destroyed by lava.
I hope that in 2023 only good things will happen like end volcano.

  20. This is my last year that we will be in the institute, and after this course, we will go to study the career or module that we like. There is nothing left to finish this course, we are going to start the last quarter. This quarter is the most short but the hardest since every week we are going to have exams, and once we finish in June we have selectivity. We all think that it is the worst year and the hardest, but it is not as bad as everything that has happened

At the beginning of the 2021 academic year, the volcano located in the Cumbre Vieja Natural Park began to expel lava. The volcano was causing serious damage, many people had to be evacuated from their homes because the lava was reaching their homes, it also destroyed other buildings and businesses. The volcano also emitted poisonous gases that could affect the health of people who breathe it, so it was very dangerous. The day this volcano erupted they started making many earthquakes,

At the beginning of 2022, Russia began the invasion of Ukraine on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his troops to bomb and invade Ukraine. This war is leaving a situation of destruction and sadness.
Many people volunteer and collaborate to make people's lives less sad by welcoming them into their homes as they have had to flee their country because their homes and businesses are being bombed.

In short, many people are helping these people who have lost everything, we should all be supporting these people because they need us more than ever. These last few years have been very difficult since we had a pandemic from which we are already coming out of the dark tunnel and we are seeing the end, then the return began to erupt, the earthquakes, and now the war. We are experiencing a very bad situation, I hope that soon everything will be fine, but for this we must first collaborate together.
