BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

GOOD NEWS: BBC Learning English's new site!!!!

BBC Learning English's new site

with his renewed section: 6 minute English

We have a listening exercise about this topic in our 2nd Bachillerato textbook. Here's another listening exercise (Random act of Kindness) and an article to read (Kinder children are more popular) that can help you to enrich your vocabulary.

You can also watch this video (Prison bank) to learn about the crime issue.

The rage in Spain that turned into a political party..... PODEMOS??

Some time ago we were in the middle of a most serious economic crisis and people went on demonstrations and took the streets. Two years later we have a new political party whose origins were probably in these street protests. What is your opinion about the issue?

Podemos hopes to cement rise of citizen politics in Spain after election success

We are living hard times in Spain, which is also the name of a novel written by Charles Dickens. Here you have got an article to read about how the world sees all these street riots, but remember the case of the hoodies some time ago in London or the problems they had in France.

Callejon: 'Spain dream come true'

Debutant Callejon looking to prove himself with Spain

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, another impressive match by our local player in yesterday's match Ajax Amsterdam-Real Madrid.
What two goals he scored with such a skill!  How beautifully he played! He's so fast when he's got the ball in his feet.

Read about him: JOSÉ CALLEJÓN    and the POST-MATCH CHRONICLE

Twitter and its origins

As you know, your English teacher has just opened an account in Twitter, which you can follow, of course. Are you into social networks? What are the pros and the cons? (What does this question really mean?)

What does 'tweet' mean? Discover the origin of this popular means of communication.

Interesting listening exercise to do.

THE ROMANS IN BRITAIN

Interesting video about Chester.
Click on Module 7 Unit 4 B    Actually, there's a mistake because it is Module 9 Unit 4B   At the end of the programme you've got the visit to Chester.

Lately, there have been some interesting films about the time when Romans were in Britain, and especially when they were attacked by the Picts and other tribes. As well, in our study trips to UK we have been able to visit some of these Roman sites (baths in Bath last year or the ancient castle in Chester, which comes from the Latin word 'castra, castrorum').

Here are some fascinating articles about the issue:

The fall of the Berlin Wall

Not long ago, actually 25 years ago, there were two Germanies and there was a wall between them.

Some articles to read about the issue:

Are there any examples in the world?

Are people still building this kind of walls nowadays?

And now listen to this song by Pink Floyd:  Another Brick in the Wall
