BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Year of challenges

Any New Year is full of challenges, but probably this one is even more (included the recovery from this amazing snowstorm all over Spain), especially for those students of mine in the level of Bachillerato.

What are your challenges for this year? Getting the highest marks, passing your B2, doing the university degree in the university you wish, getting over the pandemic....????

Or just eating healthier. Here's a listening exercise for you to do: Why can't we resist comfort food? (6 Minute English, BBC Learning English)

My personal challenges are, among others, making my students' academic challenges become a reality and going back to our old days' normality!!!!

  2. Facing challenges and challenges during our lives makes us stronger psychologically and be more responsible because it gives us the experience that we all need in our lives.

In adolescent children like me, from my point of view it is good to propose some purposes for tomorrow, I think it is good to start from scratch to plan our life even though by the time the day arrives everything is different. My purposes to follow This year it is to get a decent high school and then in the summer to get my motorcycle license since I love motorcycles.

One of the purposes that we have to have everyone now is to overcome this harsh pandemic, which is forcing us to change our way of life completely and is what it is doing with all the protocols to follow security measures, masks and everything.

I think that even challenging ourselves is a great challenge to make ourselves grow in every way but especially in the intellectual sense.

  4. Challenges are part of our everyday life. Facing up challenges makes us stronger and more responsible as it gives us the experience we need in life.

Challenges come in different forms. For some, the challenge is to get good grades in school, for others, it is winning the battle against a health problem. No matter what the problem is, it’s important to remember that there is almost always a solution to it.

My personal challenges this year are pretty obvious. As I am studying the second year of Bachillerato, my wish is to get the highest grades ever. That will help me sign up for the medical university that I wish to study at to become a very good surgeon. Besides, as I am going to be 18 this summer, I have to be more responsible, face situations with more maturity and make good decisions for my future.

What I do know for sure, is that everybody’s challenge this year is getting over the coronavirus pandemic. We have been living a year forced to maintain social distance, wear a mask and comply with a lot of rules. Fortunately, the vaccine against this virus is here and hopefully we will overcome this challenge soon.

To conclude, life is full of challenges. Challenging ouselves makes us stronger and more responsible and facing challenges is a way to prove ourselves what we are capable of.

  6. This year is more bad than last year, it has snowed in Madrid, there are many earthquakes in Granada, there are more infections of covid-19 because more people go out, ...
I would have loved it to snow in my city and go out to play with my family and friends if there were haven´t covid but here it is impossible for it to snow because we are in a coast town and that prevents snowing, on the other hand I have some challenges for this year for example riding horses again, doing exercise more, leading a health life and getting better marks, I hope all my challenges will come true.

My first challenge is follow all the rules to avoid becoming ill with COVID-19.
My second challenge is academic: I would like to improve my English grades, and all the subjects.
I would also like to play basketball matches again. This is not a challenge, but a hope.
Last but no least, I'd like to win the Formula 1 Championship Avanty, which you can watch on Twich:@avantyesports

  11. This year such strange things are happening, like last year. There are still more covid contagions, there have been many earthquakes in Granada, it has been snowing a lot in Madrid and there were people in their house without being able to go out, etc.

One of my challenges this year is to have good marks, and I think that is for the most part of the students too. And another challenge is get my b1, but i don't know if it could be reality.

This year is the year that more challenges we should have because we are living in a pandemic situation, and when the days are passing more strange things are happening.

  12. What is life if not challenges? In our daily life we usually have no choice but to face different challenges. They might be stressful and overwhelming but, if we look at the whole picture, we do realize that those challenges are key events that build our character and define who we are today.

Every single person has to overcome its own challenge. It could be a personal one, like deciding to step out of your comfort zone, an academic one, like pushing your own limits and getting better and better grades, or a challenge caused by this pandemic; due to circumstances given, many people have to survive through this hard time and to fight many problems like unemployment.

In my case, this year holds me one of the most decisive challenges I have ever experienced, selectivity. To successfully achieve my goals I must dedicate as much time and effort as I can.

Sometimes you have the temptation to abandon the challenge, when that happens you must keep in mind your motivation, in my case getting to my dream career, an then take a second and focus again, and never give up.

To sum up, Challenges are hard, but if you do your best and do not lose your hope you will probably make it.

  13. Challenges are around us every time. Overcoming them makes us stronger and helps us with future similar situations. For some people, their challenges are to get money, to buy a new home or a car. However, for other people is to fight an illness.

Around all of Spain, people have had a big challenge due to the COVID-19. Nevertheless, currently, we have other problems. There were snowfalls in most of the cities. It has shattered some infrastructures. And, I must add, the last earthquakes in the province of Granada. They have destroyed houses and buildings, too. Yet, it has affected the mental health of the people, as well.

Nowadays, my challenges are to get my French and English B1 and to pass the first year of Bachillerato. And of course, I wish both my acquaintances and I would have health.

In conclusion, challenges are present, but it depends on us how we choose to face them. I guess good humour and joy will always be better than being sad or pessimistic.

  15. This is a challenging year. It's my first year in Bachillerato, and I have to work really hard to get good grades. I must do my best to have a good average at the end of 2º Bachillerato, and get into the degree that I want.

It´s also a challenge to do more sport than I do, but with the coronavirus, it´s really difficult because the swimming pools and gyms are closed. I'll try going for a run on the beach or workout at home like I used to do during the quarantine. Although I hope the facilities will reopen soon!

The food that I eat is also something that should improve this year, so I should start eating healthier. I don't usually eat junk food, but I don't eat any fruit either, so I'll try do it more often. For me, it´s quite a challenge because I don´t like almost any type of fruit.

Finally, I will try to use my mobile phone less and to read more. I love reading, but lately, I hardly have time to do it. Also, I haven't found a good book for a long time. That is why I have proposed to do it. I hope I can achieve all the challenges that I have set for myself for this new year!

  16. This is a challenging year. It's my first year in bachillerato, and I know that I must to work hard to get good marks in this school year and in the next, because if not I can't enter in the universitary degree that I want (Inef). in the first quarter I got very good grades, and It's that I want to continue doing this quarter.

This year I decided to change the sport, because with the Covid I can't continue with the athletism as I want, because this year we can't start, and I have decided to play football, is one sport that I like and I play very good. I will like to continue running, but with the trainings of football and with the studies I can't.

This year has started a little bad, because my doctor has said that in one analytical that I made, I have one heart enzyme a little high nothing serious, but my doctor say that I must to slow down during the trainings and this is one thing that as one athlete as I who likes to give the maximum in each training, it's difficult to assimilate, but I must if I don't want have a heart attack. I like the sport and it's too difficult to slow down, but I don't have other.

Other things that I want to change is that I will try to use my mobile phone less and dedicate this time to other activities, I am not one person that uses a lot of the phone, but if I can use less, I think that will be better.

I hope that this year the situation that we are living improve and that we can return to the normality, but for that this happen we must to respect the restrictions that the experts says.

  17. The beginning of this year has been a bit strange. We started with the big snowfalls in Madrid that hadn't snowed so hard for 10 years. Also a few weeks ago there were many earthquakes in Granada that caused destruction in the city and in the surrounding towns. On January 6, protesters in support of Trump stormed the United States Capitol, and many more.

In summary, it hasn’t been one of the best beginnings to start a year as desired as 2021 after what happened last year, but I think we must be positive and for sure everything will improve.

My challenges this year are trying to get better grades and improve my English.

We always have challenges or goals that we want to meet at each beginning of the year and at the end see if we have met them or have worked and be proud of what you have done.
If you do not have challenges, life is very boring because you do things for nothing.
This beginning of 2021 has been very strange with the largest snowfall in the last 50 years in Madrid and the third wave that we have suffered but we must not stop we have to keep going.

When we thought that 2021 could not surprise us any more than 2020 had done, it started with a heavy snowfall in Madrid, some strong earthquakes in Granada and of course the rise of covid cases. The snowfall in Madrid I think was something very cool, although there were people who seemed to have forgotten that we are in a global pandemic making crowds of people.
I think life would be very boring without any setback or unexpected event, even if it's bad, sometimes we need certain things to happen to us that are not very pleasant to improve and overcome it.
My challenges for this year are get good grades and get a B1 degree in English.

  23. Challenges are often a motivation wake up every morning and go out and confront live, challenges are even the only thing some people live for being fuel for their lives.
I think everyone can relate with this at some point, a challenge is not only to have the job of your life or get through an illness, a challenge is something that allows you to grow and be a little bit better every day. With that definition in mind our current situation of pandemic and beginning of a new year with everyone out of their minds sounds like a pretty big challenge for me, I mean in the very first week we had a buffalo-dressed guy disrupting in the USA Capitol, the worst snowfall in Spain in fifty years and the “totally unexpected” third wave of the pandemic.

  25. The year 2021 didn´t start well, we all believed that it would start better. But in January in Madrid there was the biggest snowfall in his history. The city is completely paralyzed, in the news I saw that neither the road nor the street could be seen, only a large white blanket that stretched through the city could be seen. One of the images that surprised me the most was that a nurse walked fifteen kilometres through the snow to get to her hospital to work.
I don´t understand how this happened when meteorologists had been telling us what was going to happen for a week. I think was no a forecast even after weeks the city was still in chaos.

    1. Challenges are a crucial part of our lives, because thanks to them we have become the people we are today. Challenges make us stronger, as we face them day by day. Sometimes you may feel that there are too many challenges that life puts in our way, but when you overcome them you become much stronger than you could ever imagine.

On the one hand, overcoming challenges day by day helps you to be more demanding with yourself, to learn from your mistakes and not to commit them again. Challenges make people more interactive and make them have essential values. This also depends on the type of person, as there are people who face challenges in one way and there are people who face challenges in another way.

On the other hand, there are a number of challenges that are very hard, and some people are not capable of overcoming them. Well, in life there are a series of very difficult challenges, and although they are the ones you learn the most, they are also the reason why many people end up giving up.

To conclude, I think that what defines a person is how he or she faces the challenges that life puts on us every day. I also believe that challenges are a very effective way to grow as a person, since we are always learning as we walk the path to overcome them.

I think that will not be so bad but we will still have to put up with having to have a mask, having to disinfect ourselves all the time, not being able to get so close to people ...
but I think that little by little we will progress, especially with vaccines, there will be a lot less people who are infected and little by little we will be able to reach the end.

  33. Can you imagine how would be our life without challenges? Challenges are with us at all times and can be of many types and the challenges are there to face and overcome them, in addition this makes us stronger. Take challenges isn´t only good for your personal development, it can also help other people, they can be stressful or take our patience, but in the end comes the reward.

All the challenges that we have to overcome are for our personal growth, build our personality and learn. Each person has their own, some similar and others very different, so it is not known what each one carries inside of them. As there are so many, they can be of many types, such as academic, economic, etc. But if there is a challenge that each person has to overcome, it´s the pandemic that we are experimenting, which is making things so difficult.

I have had to face several challenges throughout my life and now I have to carry out the following: selectivity. Personally, I am not afraid of anything since I know that I am capable of get everything that I propose, although sometimes I have thrown in the towel I still try to get where I want. I have had to work hard to get where I am and there is still a lot of work to do, I have to study hard and do my best, although sometimes I doubt it, but I am calm since in the end everything I have worked for will have its reward.

To sum up, every people have their own challenges but if they propose it they will get everything. I believe that trusting you is the most important thing since you are the only person who is with you always, the one that can help or discourage you, that depends on you and greatly influences the results. Being sure of yourself helps you see the results even if they go little by little, but the important thing is that you see your progress and reward yourself for it

The challenges can give so much good things like bad things but we should be powerful in front of them. This year has been very difficult so much for the conditions like for the restrictions.

I think that the challenges are good for our. This year we have had that face very hard changes like for example the pandemic, online classes, restrictions...

On the other hand also I think that the challenges can give bad things like for example the last year we had that to make exams online, to be in our house unable to leave and many more things. For me the biggest challenge is pass this course for that the following year I can study what I like the most.

In conclusion, I could said that the life is complete the challenges and we must face them as best as possible. Overcoming them will make us stronger and be happier.

Challenges are sometimes difficult to achieve but other times they are the motivation we have every day to achieve our goals and to be able to get each one where we want. Having challenges makes you a better person every day.

Challenges exist to be overcome without fear and with courage and at the end of the goal that we have set ourselves, you will always see a reward for the effort we have put in.

Now, for example, we are all in a hard phase of study, in which we need to get the best possible grade from the high school average to access the career that we like or the module that we want to do but that is achieved based on effort and perseverance That is why there are challenges that make us more motivated to achieve our goal and overcome it.

To conclude, I think that overcoming our challenges, challenges or goals can make us a better and happier person.

  38. Environment is where we are living today and it must be the thing that we most appreciate. However, in the last 100 years the human people have insisted in breaking the system and little by little, we have created a serious ecological problem.

This is the result of years of deforestation the antique jungles and forests, the construction of industries that don’t respect the ambiental rules, the zero use of renewable energy and the use or contaminant energies, the furtive hunting, the toxic products that had contaminated rivers and seas, and the forest fire that start all the years, between other very many things.

The result of this is climate change, that produce extreme temperatures that alter the ecosystem and the natural cycles of different species and the cycle of the world affecting to ice in the north and south polar. As a result, this alteration do that the level of oceans are higher every year. It also produce the disappearance of exotic species, like birds that help humans with the repoblance of plants around the world.

Finally, I think that we must change this. We must help with the search of solutions for these problems, for example we can start to use the renewable energies and we can obligate the antiques fuel industries to close. We together should plant different trees of our regions for help to reconstruct the biodiversity. Moreover, we can walk to near places and use the cars only it is necessary.

  39. Challenges can be good to help us be more interested, but they can also be harmful if you do not know how to face them properly. This year in particular we have more challenges in our day to day, that we must learn to take them calmly and appropriately.

For example, in the field of COVID-19, our life has changed a lot. From the time of our free time to the workplace. In the institute this year everything has been different since we can hardly get together, due to the safety distance. This issue is a great global challenge, since in order to return to normality we must be fully involved and respect the rules that we have.

In the academic field, this year I have had and continue to have a great challenge, which is high school, in which we must be fully involved in order to get the best possible grades and get to study what each one wants. The change from last year to this has been very noticeable, both in the way of organization and in everything we have to do.

In conclusion, the challenges right now are very present. These challenges are good to overcome ourselves but we must know how to carry them out and that they do not exceed us.

We say that we have a challenge before us when we seek to achieve success in a certain subject. A personal challenge is a challenge that we impose on ourselves. It is a way of self-stimulation. The challenge does not apply to obtaining a minor achievement. It refers to a goal that involves effort, struggle, and tenacity.
