BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

For our own good!!

Unfortunately, some of our students have been, are and will be locked down for some time at home either because they are tested COVID-19 positive or because they have had a close contact with someone infected. So here we are all the staff at Mediterranean Sea School doing our best for the good of our students!!!

Here's an interesting document for you to read. Pay attention to all the vocabulary used and tell me which words you would add to our glossary:

  1. Many students get coronavirus because they are irresponsable , they don't respet the rules ( they go to parties with out a mask , don't respet the secure distance and there are a lot of people together ) .
The highschool is rare this year , there are a lot of class empty ,( the students have presencial class the middle of the day and the other middle of the day with the computer ) . The highschool is soo quite and there are less teacher .
The class is very strange, the teacher goes table to table put on alcohol gel , they can't touch anything and there are separate .

  3. This year is a difficult year for everyone due to the coronavirus.
There is also this third wave because many people like young people do not respect security measures because sometimes we do not remember the situation we are in.
The general conclusion is that everyone would have to try to respect all the rules, to get out of these difficult times. We can win to the coronavirus and continue with our life.

  4. In the last weeks many students have been in quarantine for having get the covid or for close contact with a positive.
Unfortunately, no matter how well you fulfill the rules, you still have the possibility of catching the covid but I also think that there are many people who are being quite irresponsible with the situation that we are having to live in. And that makes me very angry because there are many people who are suffering, or have lost their jobs, and many things like that, but there are people for everything, I guess.
And we have to continue to respect the rules and we will improve little by little.

I read about Pfizer's vaccine is 90% effective while Moderna's is 95% effective. I believe that the vaccine can help but it is not safe. Abel Martinez Padilla 2nd

  8. There are many students that have been staying in their houses because they have been infected with covid or they have been in contact with someone that has been infected, and this isn't good because when it's the turn to come back to high school you don't have any idea and you are late.

Having online classes is not the same as having them in high school, because you don't understand the things. During the quarantine we have been all people having online classes and we didn't learn the same, and we didn´t advance the same if we were in face to face classes.

I hope I don't have to live this situation, but I think that finally we will all catch it, because there are many people that don't comply with the rules. And the worst thing is that you can have bad luck and be infected, although you do things well.

  9. Since the end of Christmas, the cases of covid increase and more young people are infected, before teenagers were confined by direct contact with an infected but now they are confined because they are the infected.
When they have to confine themselves, they must teach online classes that are more difficult to learn than being in person and when you join it is more difficult to take the class.
In Spain the vaccine is getting very slow and we have very few, the hospitals are collapsed and that causes more people to die because they cannot be treated correctly, so we must follow the rules and be careful.

  10. The coronavirus has changed our lives since last year. Many people are infected. Now, we are at the third wave. The third and the second wave are overpassing the amount of people affected by the first wave. Today, in Andalusia, we have reached the highest number of people dead in all the pandemic.

I want to share my experience with you. My mother works as a home help assistant. The person she is assisting, who is around 90 years old, was infected, but fortunately, she didn’t get symptoms. Unlike my mother, she got infected. Last Friday, she was afraid, and she decided to go to had done a PCR. She was tested negative.

Yesterday, I was determined to go to high school. But first, my mother decided to have another PCR done. I was waiting in Salobreña inside my car when my father came, to tell me that my mother had tested positive. All my world got down because this afternoon I had my exams at the Official Language School. I could do them via the Internet. I must be at house for ten days.

In my opinion, there are people that for their job must be careful, but sometimes we can’t avoid them. On the other hand, some people prefer not to follow the precautions or the rules.

  11. Navalny is Putin´s main opponent. A few months ago Navalny was poisoned while he was on a plane and you can see on the news how he screamed in pain that the poisoning was causing him. Nobody admits it but most people think that it was a plan organized by Putin.
Navalny decided to return to Russia and last week he was sentenced to 3 years in prison. All this time I have seen how there were many people protesting in the streets of Moscow and in other cities of Russia something that isn´t usually seen. In these latest protests, more than 1.500 people were arrested, incluiding his wife.
Will this be the end of Putin? In my opinion no, he still has years left.

Confined students without the Coronavirus , they come to school soon, the best is use the mask and not only in school, outside, too, because you infect another people or your family, you are helping Covid-19 to infect more people. Then you can play, travel, go to the cinema, go to the park or concert, but you must put you the mask.

The infections are going up at high school and the teenegers are satying at home because they are tested covid 19 positive or because they have had a close contact with someone infected.Teenagers who can't go to class have to teach online from their homes and it isn't the same and that hurts you.
We have to go through these hard times that we live, keep going, continue studying as before , be careful and be responsible with what we do.
I hope this will end as soon as possible and be able to live as before or something more similar but it seems that for that there is still a long way to go and we will have to wait.

  17. In this latest wave of the coronavirus, those that are affecting them the most are adolescents, this is how covid-19 is attacking adolescents, this is known in cases of coronavirus in schools and institutes, so although there are already vaccines We can win now, no, because according to TV, only 1% of the Spanish population has been vaccinated and we are 47 million inhabitants, so we cannot relax.

Now when any student has to stay at home because he or she has had direct contact or the covid is going through, they have to teach the classes by video conference so that when the corresponding days pass and they have to return to the center they do not get lost with the explanations of the teachers.

We are going through bad times, because we are in the middle of a third wave of this unterminable pandeia but we cannot be distracted, the last push is left and with a little mentality we will get out of this as soon as possible.

  18. this third wave of infections caused by covid-19 has been more lethal than in March when the virus was in the first wave.
at the beginning of the term there were not as many infected people in high schools as there are now, as they are returning to 100% attendance in classes and there is more and more crowding, the security measures are not being taken accordingly, but not only by the students but also by the older people, as we are always blamed on the young people, here we are all to blame.
In my opinion, giving virtual lessons would be good, but it also has its bad side, because it makes it difficult for us to understand, we can only wait for the vaccine with the greatest possible caution.

  19. Covid-19 is still present in our lives, although many people has stopped taking precautions. With the holidays, some people has travel to another city and cases of positive for Covid have increased. However, many of them has result to be negative. What should we do if we are getting tested for Covid-19?

On the one hand, when we do a test and it turns out that it comes out negative, we should not stay calm because it could be that you are positive. A negative test do not mean yo do not carry the virus, it means that you did not have the virus during a specific time in the past. Moreover, there are many asymptomatic people that do not Know they have the virus and the can transmit easily to their families, friends or other people. Even the virus takes several days to incubate, so, the tests could not be effective instantly.

On the other hand, the experts say that the best way to avoid the doubts is the quarantine. If we want to stay safe and protect to our families, we should not go out and try to stay at home. Just go out in case of need. For instance, to go to the supermarket or to work. Besides that, try not to go to school or to move to another city if you are getting tested for Covid-19.

In conclusion, testing negative for coronavirus do not mean that you are in the clear, so, you should be careful. In my opinion, the best way to protect you and others is to stay at home and try to go out as little as possible.

  22. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The first case was identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The disease has since spread worldwide, leading to an ongoing pandemic.

Well this disease was totally unknown when it arrived to Spain in March 2020, we didn't know how to cure it. In these days we have a lot of information about Covid 19, we know how it act in the humans body.

Though, we have a lot of information about Covid 19, In Spain we have a lot of infection and we have to take measurements like close the cities, and we have night curfew.

But the infection of Covid 19 its really a lottery, because we have family, friends and have a work and we have always a close contact with these persons, so we have to take always the security epis, even so we can be infected by Covid, because we don't know, who have a close contact before with the persons whose we have after a close contact.

  23. The word “polyglot” is used to reference to someone that can talk various languages. The word comes from the union of the two words from ancient greek: “polis”, which means a large number of, and “glossa”, which means tongue.
Being a polyglot is very useful, because not only you would be able to travel to other countries without worrying if you will be able to understand the natives or not, but you will more likely to get hired over people that only speak one language.
Another thing is that if the languages you speak have the same roots of your mother language, or other languages you have already learned it could be easier for you to extrapolate that previous knowledge in order to learn languages in the future. For example: with some words having the same root, the use of word formation being similar, the alphabet or conjugations.

I was locked down for about two weeks, because I was diagnosed positive. The first one who was infected at home was my father, which was locked down a week before me. When he was locked, I couldn´t go to school, so I had my lessons online. A week later, I was positive, so I had to be loocked a week more. I was lucky, because I didn´t infect anyone, but others are generating sprouds, so we must be carefull.

Talking about online classes, I´m really grateful to my teachers, because thanks to them, I was able to follow more or less the lessons. I had nearly every class online, but others like PE or French wasn´t online, so I lost about 2 weeks of that classes. Regarding my health, I was very lucky, the illness was quite nice for me, so I didn´t have any problems. My parents had it a bit harder, with headaches and the lost of the smell and taste.

With this, I want to advice everyone, and tell them that this is a real problem, and that we can´t make a mess now, when we are reaching the goal. People is getting vaccined, which means that we are finally defeating the virus.

  29. If you are getting tested for Covid-19 before gathering with your family or friends or bacause you are going to travel , it is easy to believe that a negative test means you are risk-free of carrying the virus however, you could be wrong.

A negative test does not mean you do not carry the virus, rather it means you did not have the virus during a specific snapshot of time. And why does this happen?. Covid-19 tests are not sensitive enough to pick up traces of the virus the day after someone is infected and sometimes it can take more than a week to detect the virus.

Covid-19 has an incubation period of between two to fourteen days and many people start to develop symtoms within five days but for some people it could take it two weeks . So, you could take a Covid test , be negative and then develop symtoms. For that reason , the best thing you can do if you think you could take the virus or just if you were out for some days is to take quarantine.

I think that even you think you don´t have the virus , you should take the necessary measures to avoid infecting people.

It is very difficult to be confined and follow the classes online because you do not understand anything and when you arrive, you are late and you have to do many things.
There are many people who are infected because they do not comply with the rules, but there are others who do comply and sometimes have to pay for them. Even if you are very careful, you can get infected and infect your relatives but we must comply all the rules.

    1. As we already know, the main issue in these times is the Coronavirus, and we must be very aware of this issue. This virus came into our lives a year ago. Although we saw on the news that it was only affecting people in China, it took a very short time to reach our country.

Due to this situation in which we are still immersed, it is important to follow safety guidelines, and above all to be consistent and mature people, in order not to put our health or that of others at risk. For example, at my school we have safety regulations to prevent infections and that there are no more positive cases of coronavirus.

Also at my school, despite having strict regulations, there are people who have tested positive. Some of these people who have tested positive have been by contact with a family member or by some personal situation. But there are also people who have tested positive for being irresponsible and for not following safety regulations.

For these reasons, it is essential to stay safe and try to be as responsible as possible with the rules and with others in order to end this situation that we face every day.
Be responsible and help others, put yourself in their situation.

  36. Today we are faced with a great problem, the global pandemic of the coronavirus so we must be aware and be careful with it. The coronavirus has been around the world for more than a year, but when it arrived in Spain it was in March but the state of alarm was called in Spain on March 14, even seeing the situation that had previously existed in Italy.

At first it originated in China and we only saw news, we thought it was something that was far from us but it did not take long to reach Spain. It is a very complicated situation for which we must be responsible, both for our own good and for that of our family and friends and for this we have to follow the security measures. If we all do our part, this could happen faster and we can return to normal. Both the schools and the hospitality industry carry out a protocol to guarantee your safety and that of the people who are there.

But these measures are not miraculous since there are still people who continue to be infected. The regulations are strict but even so if everyone does not follow them the disease continues to spread, but not everyone is infected by irresponsibility, there are also people who have been in direct contact with an infected person before knowing it and have also become ill. The rules that we must follow are, for example, the use of masks, the safety distance and they also recommend the use of hydroalcoholic gel, following all these rules we can stabilize the curve until it goes down more and more.

In my opinion, I think that the life we had before we won´t have it again, since we have all become much more careful and even somewhat maniacal. I think that if we took off our masks it would be strange since we have gotten used to seeing ourselves with them on. I think that if all people followed the rules we could end this as soon as possible, it is annoying not see our family but the important thing is health, soon we will be able to embrace again. For me a great advance has been vaccines, the end is getting closer.

This year it is becoming very difficult for everyone but especially for the students since we are in high school and we have been confined almost the entire course and now it is more difficult to study, also it is not the same to give online classes than to attend class all the days.

This virus affects older people and can die, but adolescent people who do not have pathologies have less risk, but what it does is that if we catch COVID we have to stay at home for 15 days and people who have had direct contact with the infected person, you also have to stay at home until they give you the result if it is negative or positive.

I think that there are many tests that can be negative but they can be a false negative and in reality it is positive and the person believes that he is not infected and in fact he is and infects many more people such as his family or friends.

Hopefully this virus will soon leave our lives and we can continue with our old lives without a curfew or face masks or rules.

  38. The worldwide pandemic of the coronavirus is one of the biggest problems today, and we have to be careful because many people die during the day. covid arrived in spain in March and on the 14th a state of alarm was declared.

This virus originated in China, when an infected animal was eaten. Luckily I do not have any disease, and it is difficult for me to die, but we have to be careful and responsible because we have family and friends who could die. If we all help in this we will soon return to normality, because right now we have to carry out many measures and restrictions, such as the mandatory use of the mask, safety distance, there is a certain time to get to your house, etc. with all this we will get less infected and everything will be better.

In my opinion, it will be difficult to live as we did before. We have to thank the people who have researched and implemented the vaccines, because less people will die. I also think it will be rare to see your friends without a mask.
