Spanish students are said not to speak foreign languages very well and that is absolutely false, as I have had the chance of meeting Spaniards all over the world being able to speak even four languages fluently and without the need of having learned them at school. It was just the need to communicate what forced them to make the effort.
Here's a new section in BBC Learning English which deals with the issue:
Beating Speaking Anxiety: I'm scared of making mistakes (BBC Learning English) >>>>> How to fight the fear of mistakes
Keeping an eye on the issue...
Listening exercise for you to do: Scared to speak English? (6 Minute English, BBC Learning English)
And this is true as I could come to the conclusion when carrying out all my researches for my PhD, which you can download from one of the banners on the right of this page. That is why I encourage my students to make their own video sketches at home to reduce their anxiety to speak. Here are two examples of students from Mediterranean Sea Secondary School who made two excellent video sketches long ago (actually, it was in the late 20th century)...

British 'linguaphobia' has deepened since Brexit vote, say experts (The Guardian)

Here's my musical hint for today: Cry to me by Solomon Burke. And here's a version with the lyrics for you to sing along.

Here are some more activities for my students:

ResponderEliminarI learnt English by playing videogames when I was 3 years old,I had a PS3 with GTA V, and there is where all started. Since I went to school, the teachers told me and my mum about my high English level,I'm really proud of myself by playing since I was a kid. This all English level is thanks to games like GTA V,Red Dead Redemption II,And Mortal Kombat 11. Those games taught me English, and I'm not embarrased of telling this to you.

(Correction and addition)
We need to eat natural foods more than fast food because our bodies need proper nutrients to stay healthy and strong.Natural foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and home-cooked meals provide vitamins, minerals, and energy that help us focus, grow, and feel better overall.Fast food may be quick and tasty, but it is often high in sugar, salt, and unhealthy fats, which can cause health problems over time.Eating naturally helps improve our physical health, boosts our mood, and builds good habits that support long-term well-being.

Maintaining a well-trained brain is important for learning, focus, and mental health. We can keep our brains active by reading, solving problems, and learning new skills regularly.Challenging ourselves helps improve memory and critical thinking.Getting enough sleep, eating healthy foods, and exercising also support brain function.Reducing screen time and staying organized improves concentration. When we consistently practice good habits and stay curious, our brains remain flexible, sharp, and better prepared to handle challenges in school and everyday life with confidence, balance, and long-term success.
