BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Where does English come from?

You have heard many times your English teacher telling you the story of William the Conqueror and that 90% of English language comes from Latin!!!!

However, the English language is formed by many other words (cognates, false friends, loanwords... - BBC Learning English).

Here are some other documents for you to analyse about the English Language:

Well, it didn't. Here's a listening exercise to do about the feeling I didn't have when I realized you wouldn't find the answer there: The benefits of schadenfreude (6 Minute English, BBC Learning English). What kind of a word is 'schadenfreaude'?

  2. All of us use words taken from other languages every day, especially from the English language.
And also English borrows words from other languages.

However, there are some words that not all English speakers will know. This is because in each part of the world they use a different vocabulary. And each speaker of a language has its own vocabulary. For example, in New Zeland they will use a vocabulary in English of Maori origin, but, English speakers in Scotland may know more words of Scottish Gaelic origin.

I think I use a lot of words from English and from other languages without noticing. And so do most people.

  3. All of the people use a lot of different vocabulary every day, but they do not know where there are from, and, in most of the causes, the words that we always use, are from other different languages.

In English language, there are words called¨borrowed¨, and there are words like yoga or jungle which came into English from languages of South Asia. Another case is the English speakers who live in New Zeland. Here, there use words that came from Maori origin, like ahora. And in Scotland, they use words of Scottish Gaelic origin.

I think that this information about the origin of the words that we use every day is very interesting because in a sentence we can have words that have different provenance
