BEING A TEACHER....

BEING A TEACHER IS A DIFFICULT TASK NOWADAYS, SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS PIECE OF ADVICE BY BRUCE LEE:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Our rights to water

WATER!!!  WATER!!!  We need water almost for everything, we need water when we are thirsty, we need water to wash ourselves, we need water to produce energy, we need water to transport goods...

Water is so valuable in our planet and we constantly waste it in foolish things such as watering golf courses, leaving the tap open when we brush our teeth, letting the water run in fountains we can stop such as in the sports facilities here in Salobreña...

Only you can make me happy

The title of this song gave me a hint for this new post. What or who can make a person happy? For lovers the answer is obvious, as it is the case of the song, but there are many other circumstances.

That could be the case of a teacher and his students, a parent and his/her children, etc. However, it is not only people who can bring happiness, but also things or animals, for instance pets, money...

So what or who can make you happy?

You will make me really happy if you do these activities:

Here's my musical hint for today: Only you can make me happy by the band Surface  and here's a version with the lyrics for you to sing along...

EUROPE!!!!

After so many years of wars, especially the First and Second World wars, we managed to reach the summit with the European Union (EU). It wasn't an easy way, but when we thought he had sorted all the difficulties out, the Brexit came and the figure of Angela Merkel turned up to get over it successfully (Listening exercise for you to do: Angela Merkel ,6 Minute English, BBC Learning English) . Now this elderly German lady, who came from the cold (East Germany), is about to retire from politics.

Here some articles for you to read and video to watch:

Never too much!!!

It is never too much. You have to get the highest marks. There are loads of things still to do, to learn, to achieve in life, so "don't whine like a mule" (watch the video below).

I don't want to hear ever in class: "That's too much for us!!". Actually, students are used to "whining like mules",  as Morgan Freeman would say to Robin Hood in the film...

Mummy, one day I would like to play in the NBA if...

Every time I explain the hypothetical conditionals to my students I give them this example:

Let's imagine Pau Gasol talking to his mum when he was three years old. One day he comes to her and says: "Mumy, one day I would like to play in the NBA if I were taller and played basketball". The possibilities at that time were close to zero, but that's the difference with the impossible conditionals, there was a tiny chance that that child's dream came true.

And, actually, that dream came true and Pau Gasol became our G.O.A.T.S. (Greatest Of All Times in Spain) and he's a legend both for our basketball and for the history of the NBA.
